I like the kind of subs who like being tied up and spanked. :D

With regards to the thread though, I have a PPI 10" and I like it a lot. Nice and clear, it has taken all the power that I've thrown at it and it still hits clean.

Not even "diamond" gonna mention the Diamond TDX, or even the old MACDADDY'S. O.K. Slightly on the pricey side but much quality than the W7, in the same range. I have also used the M6 subs.

I wouldn't go with audiobahn for s.q. But for durability for sure.. I still don't know what would hit hard lows and have the s.q in other ranges for the price..

I guess I'll have to stick around for some time before buying.

I would stick my two Cerwin Vega 15in 3-way house speakers in my back seat. These things are rated at 108Db 1w/1m and have a frequency response down to 15Hz. Hehehe. I could power them with a 50W x 4 Head unit and still get over 120Db. Isn't that amazing. I'd spend a total of $200 and still be able to pound the $hit out of anybody within 20ft. And the best thing is, they don't sound like $hit, like most car stereo systems with subs do. I hate the whole "boom boom" crap. But, if they insist on messing with me, I'll send them away with their tail between their legs

Anywho. For dedicated car subs. I would probably make an array of 8 15in or 18in subs from either legacy or Pyramid. I love their stuff. I can get an 18in driver for $45. . Now that's my kind of price.

Now, for single drivers, I would probably go with a 15in or 18in Cerwin Vega Mag series. They produce great SQ, and arn't too "boomy".

Just my $0.02

WTF, no one likes Kicker here? Kicker subs are very nice for the price (unless you want L7's, jesus). my friend had a Comp VR 10 in a ported box, running at 700W (yes, 700 watts on a 600W max subwoofer) and he hit 140 dB. the sub never blew either, he had it over a year before selling it to me.

right now im finishing my custom box to fit 3 of those Comp VR 10's in the hatch of my 240 along with a 2400W amplifier. its going pound like hell.

so come on, what with these cheap **** subs, like legacy and sony...

I like Infinity Kappa Perfect. Been using them for the past 8 years now. Used to bump with Soundstream & JLs. For the price you can't beat Infinity.

You guys are talking about good quality subs right? Well audiobahn should stay off of there. It is almost as bad as Sony stuff. The rms ratings on it are only thermal ratings and do not determine the SPL that thing can dish out. Audiobahns aren't loud nor have good SQ. They are probably what is good at places like circuit city and such (reminds me of BOSE), but should not be considered in the same category as subs you buy from professional audio stores. I agree with that one guy who mentioned RE XXX subs. If you want quality subs go with that, Adire Brahmas, or ID MAX. Just to give you a hint for those of you who have never heard of these subs, the RE XXX sub is considered one class higher than JL W7's. SPL is decent with these subs and SQ is excellent.

i don't suppose i have been exposed to THAT many subs, but i've heard all of the mainstream ones and some others. i really liked the older mb quart premium series sub. i say older, but i don't think they have changed over the years. the last time i listened to them was around mid way through 2001. i like those a lot but i LOVE my bostons. they are pretty comparable, maybe the mb quarts are a little cleaner, maybe the bostons handle more power, but all in all they are pretty evenly matched and i like them both. i only wish i could listen to higher end stuff to really see the difference. simm i think probably gets to listen to the best and the brightest. i'm jealous, but i can't imagine what i'm missing out on, because i really like the stuff i have listened to and mentioned above.

Call me old fashioned, but the Precision Power Pro series subs (flat carbon fiber and nomex weave piston) rocked. Yeah Austin, have had and heard so many different subs in all different kinds of sizes and configurations... but the PPI Pros had it all. Unfortunately they are nearly extinct. If I were buying tomorrow, I would have to consider a 12 inch Brahma or a proper sub from Image Dynamics.

I have an 12' Alpine Type S, but after hearing my friends JL 10w6.

I gotta go with JL now

But don't get me wrong Alpine, Kicker, JL, Eclipse, PPI and Orion are the best subs out there.
