I haven't seen this thread up since I have joined, but maybe this was already discussed? I don't know..but what do you guys do for a living to afford your cars? I know, I know...I'm talking about besides being a p0rn star and stuff like that...

As for me, I'm a Financial Analyst for the Federal Reserve. Even though we are an entity of a Government agency, it's scary about the possibility of losing our jobs even in this economy. There's going to be layoffs announced very soon...argh.

So, what do you do?

Project Mngr and Asst. Store Manager for an industrial supply company. We sell pipe and valves to people like Exxon, Chevron, Shell. So when gas prices are high we actually have more business and that makes my pockets happy. Every time my wife complains about high gas prices I remind her about the additional commissions I make from lots of sales.

Yes sir, I have considered myself a professional job seeker. I am going to start in the insurance industry this coming week as something to do for money temporarily. I have applied to hundreds of jobs over the past few months, nothing. Thursday, I applied to 9. My dad told me months ago that he wouldn't want to be in my shoes, coming right out of college in these times.

As an econ major, I can't imagine how the Fed is going to be laying people off right now. I would imagine they would be doing the opposite along with the Treasury.

That's what I thought too. The latest rumors are the we're laying off around 20 or so employees. I know that doesn't sound much; but to us, it's a lot and unheard of. Hopefully, they'll just start giving out early retirement.

I am an adjunct professor of management. I teach both graduate and undergraduate business students. I have a doctorate in business administration, which is required to teach graduate courses. I am also an analyst in the world of HR as my full time job---I deal with compensation and all the complications of creating jobs, writing job descriptions, deciding who gets paid what, and how much, who gets promoted or who gets a stipend, and why.

I am not in the employment/recruitment side of the HR house. But I will look around and see.
