Very cool! Definitely good to meet another geek! Gotta love being a geek as it lets me afford my toys

I've been doing networking for about 10 years now. Started getting heavily into Cisco in about 2001 (right when the bubble burst). I actually ended up teaching CCIE Bootcamps and writing training material for a couple of years so I've had a pretty varied networking history

I've got a few certs:

CCIE #8642 R/SCCNPCCNACCVPCCSPCCDPMCSE - Microsoft CertRCSP - Riverbed Cert

Some other miscellaneous 4 letter ones for wireless, Avaya, and Juniper...

How about you, how long have you been in networking?

Nice, I really like the Riverbed products. I honestly think that in this product segment they are even better than Cisco

Hearing that also makes me want to get into a discussion about what the backend does consist of: routers, switches, firewalls, IPS, load balancers, disaster recovery, etc... but I'll spare all the non geeks

CCIE =

That's my next cert!!...I had to put it on hold until I finished my BAS. Currently I only have the CCNP, CCNA, and the CCNA-S. My primary system that I monitor/maintain is a large Promina .NET network. I've been doing this for about 4 years outside of my Air Force training in Comm. (I was a tech controller for 3 years).

LOL!

Let me know when you start studying for the CCIE again. I have some material that might help you out some - it's probably a little outdated since I wrote it but could still help.

Currently I coordinate accident scenes and chemical spills all across North America, however I'm gearing up to pour over 8 years of monitored driving data to determine which safety technologies need to be implemented and their economic viability for my company.

SVTCOBRA I tell my students all the time that they may not believe me, but they may just need some math skills later on in life. I have a degree in business, teacher certification(2 years of education classes), and a masters in curriculum and instruction.

I got a minor in business which included 1.5 years of accounting classes. Having a good understanding of Algebra makes accounting SO much easier!!! Got A's in all of my accounting classes.

I loved my higher level accounting classes, but the first ones were SO boring. (Debit, credit, blah, blah, blah) My wife almost got here degree in accounting, but she went into the medical field instead.

True, but I did enjoy seeing how math was actually being used in real world situations - depreciation/loans/costs of manufacturing/profit. Cost Accounting to me was my favorite accounting class. What I enjoy about my work is helping out my accounting co-workers (internal customers) find solutions to their daily problems/challenges/manager's requests. I've mainly supported/developed financial applications involving asset management, cash management, general ledger, shareholder management, corporate budgeting. All of which involve detail accounting - and of course math.

I got out of most of the programming stuff. My last job was sql and cobol database programming. This job is mostly creating reports through Cognos tools and access, as well as running reports through a database type system, but I don't maintain that system just fetch data through it. So basically functional side with a little 'other' mixed in.

All clinics and doctors have to go through me to retrieve reports. As well as I maintain sets of daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports that are sent out. Then I also train some others who we give access to some of the cognos tools.

To add to the math convo, I started as an Accounting major, but switched to Information Systems my last semester. Believe I lack 3-4 classes from the Accounting degree, but probably won't get it. Apparently there are a lot of numbers people in here.

I'm taking accounting now for some summer classes... actually, I'm finishing up an accounting project right now...

I'm not sure I can really explain how accounting makes me feel, but if I were to try my best I would say it like this: Accounting makes me want to go skydiving without a parachute...

I'm a Corporate Law major (Business Management major/Pre-Law Minor) and I hate this accounting crap...

Took 1 year of business law as part of my bus minor and loved the class. Mainly, the cases that the lawyer teaching the class told us about.
