God forbid these people ever have to endure a REAL crisis. They act like they were inconvenienced on purpose.
Sounds to me like Carnival is going WAY above and beyond in compensating them.
OH THE HUMANITY!!!!!!!!!!!!At one point, the ship ran out of food, he said, and "they started making mayo sandwiches."

Add a slice of tomato and you've got a Kentucky Club!93coupe wrote:Damn, I was thinking this thread was about the Altima Coupe forum.
I almost puked when I read "mayo sandwiches".
I disagree. If you paid a few thousand for a weeks cruise using up a chunk of your annual vacation time and that kinda problem happened, would you be content with Carnival saying, "Oops sorry, shiat happens, have a nice day?"AZhitman wrote:http://www.cnn.com/2010/TRAVEL/11/12/cr ... tml?hpt=T2

I thought what Carnival did by offering their next cruise free was appropriate and not excessive. What would you have done?
From what I read, the crew received a lot of praise for taking care of the passengers despite the challenging conditions. They deserve a bonus.
Actually, you don't get to make that call. Read your ticket next time you go on a cruise. They're under no obligation to give you Jack S***. There's a "s*** happens" clause.ScorchedNX2K wrote:+1 Bubba, no way I would accept anything less than full reimbursement for my trouble.
No, I didn't. It would be nice, and I'd be very appreciative of the cruise line's efforts to make things right.ScorchedNX2K wrote:Are you saying you'd be ok without a refund AZ?
I disagree. EVERYONE on the ship was inconvenienced, including the crew. I have no tolerance for people who think their situation is any more important than that of their peers, and I despise whiners.ScorchedNX2K wrote:They are well within their right to be "crybabies" about the whole affair.

Meh, s*** happens. I mean, you can't prevent everything from happening, that's why they call this kind of thing an "accident". I'd be stoked if that happened to me. Why? They just got COMPLETELY reimbursed for travel and their tickets, AND received a free cruise. They all just made a couple grand. I'll take the weeks worth of vacation hit for a couple grand in my pocket.ScorchedNX2K wrote:The problem is they payed a lot for the opportunity. There are certain expectations when you pay that much money. Hot water and A/C on a cruise are kind of necessary. Cruises are a service industry, these people payed for a service they didn't receive and as consumers they have an obligation to make sure the cruise line upholds their end of the bargain...and complaining is a way to do that. Your last point doesn't matter as the crew are paid to be there.
Yeah some of them were melodramatic about the affair and I'd be more than a little pissed if I had taken that week from my vacation time.
"A lot" is relative. To some, it was a drop in the bucket. To others, it may have been their life savings. It doesn't matter. No one is "special". No one cares how much they PAID.ScorchedNX2K wrote:The problem is they payed a lot for the opportunity.
Again, the money is irrelevant. I'd bet SOMEONE on that ship didn't pay a dime - maybe they WON a cruise? So, should they be treated differently?ScorchedNX2K wrote:There are certain expectations when you pay that much money.
Sure they are. Until there's a fire and the power goes out.ScorchedNX2K wrote:Hot water and A/C on a cruise are kind of necessary.

The passengers have NO "obligation" to anyone, so I don't know what you're talking about.ScorchedNX2K wrote:...as consumers they have an obligation to make sure the cruise line upholds their end of the bargain
