and of course very nice build, i cannot wait to see the final product. But then again, when are our cars ever done?

17x9.5 p45rs are the plan for wheels. as for suspension, as you can see the full es bushing kit is on with pineapple subframe bushings and kyb struts with eibach springs. the plan is for coilovers down the road but i haven't made up my mind yet, pbm is sick, but stance is good too and on the other hand i've always been a tein fan......and you can see how the decision can be hard. pbm rucas will be in before the car is running. no 5 lug conversion in the plans. i'm happy 4 lug and even if i get z32 brakes i'll probably stay 4 lug

so update time, lets see last time we left off the last real progress was switching the tophats on the front struts and working on the front wheel wells. since then i've gotten the front wheels wells finished....and just a reminder, heres how it looked before

now of course you saw the teaser pic i postedand i'm surprised no one asked about the rad support, but the long and the short of it is i came home from work on saturday and it was fairly warm out for the winter months so i decided to make use of the warmth. i started working on little things on the black car; removing the rad, removing the ic and piping. as i start prepping for engine removal i'm thinking of ways to make yanking the engine easy since i have to do it outside. i decided the best way would be to cut the rad support off and just wheel the car back after the engine is on the cherry picker. i took a break and shortly didderson showed up. we both got back to work removing small things under the hood and undoing plugs etc. After awhile we were running out of stuff to remove, so i looked at tom and said, "if you have a little more time to spare, let's just rip this ***** right out". so on an impulse we set up the cherry picker and pulled the engine out. i will admit it fought a little since i didn't remove the dp first, but it still came right out. heres how everything looked in the middle of undoing it

didderson removing the motor mounts

the engine separated from the car

and the bay afterwards

the dp and turbo outlet came off easily outside of the car

we then cleaned up and parked it under a tarp for the night.

earlier in the day when it was still light out, i made my way to parents to work on my car to find my dad moving things around and wheeling my s13 in the garage.

with it pulled over the pit, i could get to anything underneath it very easily. here's the rear sway bar hooked up with the new endlinks

it's not perfect under there yet, but heres a general look at how everything is looking

with the wheel wells done i installed the flcas, tension rods, kyb's and wheels

looking very comfy inside

crazy camber

with the engine still sitting outside, i removed the turbo ad manifold and took everything inside to work on it.

i removed turbo from the manifold and cleaned up the turbo itself using the parts washer

before

after

heres both manifolds next to each other

now since the aftermarket manifold is a cheap one and i don't want it to crack, i've made a cut between each runner they can expand at their own rates and reduce cracking.

i found out its damn near impossible to find studs to go into the manifold unless you want to drop like $30 for 4 studs. so i just bought bolts of the same size and threaded them through using locktite and put a nut with loctite on BOTH sides of the flanges ( i have the pics still on my camera). unfortunately one of the lines got messed up so i will be ordering steel braided lines shortly.

with the car inside i used up the last of my fatmat and made it as far as the rear seats. since my dad used the rest of mine, i had him order a 50ft roll of the stuff. heres where i left off

the rest of the pics are still on the camera so i'll be posting those later. i'll also wait til then to update farther. i'm getting tired of typing all this out, but heres a pic of how the engine is sitting now

i'll go into details later, but over the past few days wiring has been the main focus. mrgreeneyes was over til 3am saturday night and 4am last night (or this morning technically). suffice it to say he is the man and besides his wiring skills, thats his stand my engine is sitting on. thanks keegan! i hope you enjoyed the update nico

hah if i sold you my se wheels i'd have nothing to roll on. besides these are the ones that clear z brakes. the engine will be completely stock internally and only have a few bolt ons. fmic, ssqv, avcr, and yeah the manifold and lines. eventually i'll upgrade the turbo and build my spare head then just swap it on (less down time)

i looked on that site but the only studs i found were 30mm and i was worried that'd be a little short. it's ok, it's all taken care of now. i removed the rad support to easily remove the engine

^ You don't bumnah. I mean if what your asking is DO you have to cut the rad support to remove the engine. Then no, you can easily remove it without resorting to this.

Drift boy I gave away my SE's to IlovemyRHS13 quite a few months ago lol. Maybe u can pester him for some! JK he uses em.

Lookin good haven't seen the update that I know you sent me by phone yet but that engine left a bloody mess when we were done! I'm sure your dad noticed the driveway being all mucked up ya?

I'm not gonna rag on u for the engine paint, but I have my reasons lol, Nice job on the turbo though.

What did u cut the manifold with?GG i def. will be over maybe thurs to see the wiringgg

lol yeah i knew you'd hate the paint tom, but i wanted to do it and kyle and keegan backed me so i gave into peer pressure . the paint was actually done by kyle as well as the pulleys. with nothing to work on on his camaro he's been working on the s13 alot. he helped disassemble and clean everything and he started paining the engine and **** while i did the brackets and smaller parts. and when me and keegan were doing wiring, he put the back half of the interior in and wired my rear speakers.

bumnah, totally not necessary to cut the rad support, but it makes life easier so why not?

No my question/statement was. The radiator support doesn't just unbolt. I thought it was spot welded on.

Are you going to weld it back on? I certainly hope you wouldn't use bolts to put it back on.

I can't comprehend why you'd cut it off since the motor comes out so easily even with it in place.....
