+1 for the matte black on the sides.... I think that would look crazy. Hmmmmm matte black side accents on a superblack coupe? ... HMMMMM

I originally said I like the dark grey on the precision grey. Somone post some decent side shots and I will photoshop it.

As far as the matte on the super black, I don't think that would look to good. maybe like a medium shade or dark shade of grey would work. Or even a blk/red carbon fiber pattern might look good. But the photoshop god will haft to do carbon fiber patterns. I havent figured out how to make my own swatches yet.

Damn, I hadn't even thought about that! I completely forgot that the R8 comes in black...all the ones out here are of the typical white variety!

...this micro-mod might be on my to-do list! Thanks dl_yuenuoc for the heads up!

sparktree-- amazing work man.

I really dig the sides on your precision grey coupe. Don't think it'd look well with my dark slate though.

thanks for posting-- definitely cool!

Max,

That's not actually Precision Grey, it's Radiant Silver.

As for the side panel vinyl, I like it... but I think because our car's contours are not the same as the r8, the vinyl should really continue through the rockers to the bottom of the car. I'm not saying vinyl the whole rocker, just continue the line through it.

Something like this...

Just got bored and decided to mess with photoshop. Pretty sure know one will like it, and I would never put this on my car, but you can see it anyways.

I like the sidepanels, I would take off the nismo sticker on your wheel, but other than that looks good.

The CF idea is really interesting. Anyone have any good pics of their black coupe to photochop some CF vinyls down the side? I'd really like to see what that looks like.

Hrm, that color looks a tad off.. I know it was a quick PS but it still looks kinda nice. Is there anyway I could FULLY remove the vinyl if i ddint like the end result? Like i dont want any black residue stuck on the roof..

When discussing vinyl, theres all different sorts of quality...

Calendared VS Cast is one of the big discussions...

Manufacturers... Oracal, 3m, Avery...

Then within each manufacturer, which product line...

It depends on how long you want it to last, and how much you want to pay...

For the roof, to be a single piece (bats roof overlays are 2-piece) it needs to be a 60" roll that the vinyl comes from, and it will be expensive to have someone get you that... It may be most cost effective to have it painted....

I cant tell you more unless you tell me more!

I would like to start by thanking you Brian, for taking the time to help me.

Quality would be great, as most likely will only do it once. A silver would be too striking, perhaps a carbon fiber (although more expensive) would be desired. I know you are a connoisseur in this field, what is your best advice ... along with a quote, if you can assist ?

Thank you, yet again

I dont stock this type of stuff Daan... do you have a local "sign shop" that makes storefront lettering etc?

I personally like Oracal products (they are from germany, any vinyl made in the USA cant have as good of an adherent as an import) and their "Oracal 751 Premium Cast" would probably be a nice choice for this type of application, the life of vinyl is cut down on horizontal applications like this where its in the sun all day. If you wanted to splurge, get the Oracal 951.

Go into your local sign shop and tell them your idea, see what they say.
