12.5 and your engine will run too lean, which is what one of my friend's cars did.
Yup, sticky 1 key. Glad he didn't go BOOM!

I know you guys don't like to hear about my kills, so I will post it here since you guys don't read in here anyways...
Today coming home from work I saw a TransAm. I am not sure of the year but it appear to be newer, probably a 98 or something? I got behind him and he got on his car. I got on my car to catch up. He pointed his arm out the window so I assumed he was saying go that way. At the stop light we turned left. As soon as we got around the turn he hit it. I was behind from the start because I was behind him. He got into the other lane and I pulled hard in 2nd and got a little past in 3rd and pulled away in 4th. When I slowed down and he passed me, he gave me a head nod. I did the same. Another V8 bites the dust.
Also I lit up a Chevy Cavlier only using 1st gear. This car was a piece of work...It was black with 2 gold stripes. It also had wheels and what looked like after market breaks. Not sure if he had suspension or not but the car seemed lower than normal. The best part is I could see he had gauges...I assume they are fake because he had stock exhaust...He got cocky so I lit him up. Before today, it had been a couple of weeks since I got on my car. I think the Z needed to stretch her legs.

Not all V8 owners are arrogant douche's though.
My buddy owns a 2000ish WS6 TransAm and he knows my car will rip him a new one lol. Congrats on the kill though!

Yeah, this guy seemed pretty cool. I think he wanted to have fun just like I did. Those TransAms are fast cars though...

Edit: and it sounded nice :) I would like to see that car against my friends 2010 GT. That would have been pretty close.

lol So I pulled into my driveway a bit ago and that TransAm pulled up to my driveway. He was like remember the other day? I was like yeah? He said its crazy, I live right up the street. I said sweet. He was like what do you have under that thing? I said it's just a 300zx TT with a few upgrades. He asked if I was whinding it out. I said I was takin up to about 6,400-6,500. He was like oh ok so you were getting on it a bit. He said he has a rebuilt corvette motor. He said what it was but I don't remember it. But I told him if he ever wanted to talk cars to stop over. He said cool, sounds good. Looks like I found a new friend :)
I will let you guys know the motor of his car next time I see him.

Just an update...I have been talking to Seb at SZ and after talking about prices for parts and labor I won't be doing an engine pull. This means no MSP manifolds for me. I still plan on doing everything else and should see some nice gains. I will be maximizing everything except the exhaust. In the future when I do pull the motor maybe I will throw some slightly larger turbos also.
Also my TPs just got shipped today. They should be installed no later than Friday.

I know you're making progress man and that's awesome...every step feels so good doesn't it?

Man I wish I could help you pull the engine out of that thing. I know you wanted it bad.

Gotta go with priorities tho

Yea...Seb was saying like 3,400 just for labor with my first plan...that doesn't leave enough for parts and a tune. Maybe I will just wait to pull the motor in the future and do turbos and cams then. The more stuff I can buy before next summer the better. Maybe I can get the Selin set, radiator and oil cooler before my bonus.
But as a plus I can do the larger intercoolers/piping/throttle bodies which I wouldn't have been able to do before. I think 400 is still in reach without the exhaust manifold but if not, then it's a future project. The car isn't going anywhere.

By the way did you get my last PM?

the tune is a generic, off-the-shelf tune, for what it's worth. so probably another 400-600 to get them to tune it for you?

and also, when you get cams, it's recommended to get new lifters too.

Add another $300ish to that list for Valve Springs. A lot of upgraded cams require you to buy new ones.

that's included as part of the 1,300, cams by themselves are maybe 800.

camshafts...i don't think you really need, Kevin, for your goal --- you saw the stock turbos' blog on specialty-z making 425rwhp+ running a stock block and stock camshafts.

My mistake. And most cams I see are generally $990. So yeah, $1300 sounds about right.

Kevin, if you're going to get upgraded cams, I would suggest porting your heads to get maximum airflow.
Of course this probably doesn't coincide with your plans, just a suggestion.

Ok I guess I will scrap the cam idea. I would still like to look into BDE Intake Cam Gears and Tomei Exhaust Cam Gears.

the bde cam gears are pretty cool, to avoid the vtc cam gear noise...the tomei is for playing around with your powerband, from what i understand...how much is instant gratification, i don't know.
