Did you find just one harness or one for both sides? We have another thread going on this but were going back and forth on if the 2.5 is pre-wired and last I read it wasn't. Where exactly was this located and is it only one hook up?

Why did you get some Chinese kit when you could've had the kit I linked you to from a reliable manufacturer (XenTec) for a lower price.

Hmm I like the look and the price of those XenTec lights. Thanks for re-igniting the desire in me 2 buy some HID's guys....

If you might recall, I almost bought them a while back, but then some mechanic told me that they run the possibility of melting the stock headlight casing, and he also said it's likely to get fined by the police for having them. I've figured out by now that the police thing is not really true, there are people driving around with cheap bright blue HIDs around here.............. But how about the melting the stock casing thing? That concerns me still.

Please let me know what u think.

p.s. - aftermarket HID's (5000K) don't matter when taking the annual inspection test, correct?

thx!!

well i did not hear any input on what exactly was a good brand and what wasnt. I just saw suggestions on where to get them. I dont claim to be an expert in HIDs but I highly doubt that the one I bought is crap either. WTF, cant people be just happy for someone. So, i guess for now ill just drive around with my chinese HIDs.. . btw, they so far have been very professional with constant emails on the status of my order...so im not too worried about it. Ive seen more popular companys not show the same courtesy. UGH...sorry if i took your post the wrong way..

Anyways, to answer pcpowers q: you DONT have to worry about melting the housing as they only run on 35W instead of 55W. They run cooler than halogen. So you shouldnt worry about that.

Uhmm...Those kits are made in China too! What makes them that much more reliable than the next company? I've had my X-Light HID's and they've been just as reliable for the past 5 months than anything I could've bought elsewhere.

Just because they ship from the US, or is an American company, doesn't mean they're made here. I'd say it's safe to say that probably 90-95% of the kits out there are made in China.

Go check most of your household goods and you'll see that a good portion of them were either made in China, or at least has parts and/or labor from China. It's just a matter of economics. Cheaper land, labor and resources, equals more profit. A good amount of "American" companies have factories set-up in China, Philipines, Taiwan, etc because of the cheaper costs and lessened government regulations.

BTW Shift, I'm not trying to start anything with you. Just stating that most HID kits are made in China. I personally try to steer clear of Chinese made products myself because of the poor quality control and health issues that seem to be commonplace in that country's manufacturing/production techniques.

Passenger harness is attached to the bottom outside part of the windshield fluid reservoir and the driver's side harness; im not sure because it didn't even occur to me to look since I was preoccupied with getting the HID's in and stuff...but there is a harness attached to the bottom half of the bumper if u look underneath where the radiator rests on....i suspect that would have to do with the fogs? Unless theres prewiring for something else that the 3.5 has and the 2.5 doesn't...but I'm not sure what.....

Hey guys,

Ok cool, from one dood's response, worrying about the headlight casing melting is not an issue. I know that someone on this board once mentioned it is a possibility though...

Anyhow, is there any issue w/ passing the annual inspection test? Seems like the inspection sticker place just plugs in his equipment to the car, and it auto-reads all the specs from the CPU..... Think the aftermarket HID's will cause any issues w/ that?

thx!

Here's my 5000K below. They're considered a "diamond" white. They look much better in person. Trust me, go with 5000K. I installed 6000K on my friends car because she insisted on them. I tried for a week to talk her out of it, but she was dead set on them because her friend told her it would look good. Well guess what? They were too blue for her and now she wants to order 5000K and wants me to install them for her, again. I told her she should've listened to me in the first place and now she's going to have to wait for me to free up time for the installation.

Yes, it does have a slight blue tint. It's more like factory HID's without the rainbow effect.

Well, luckily HID's are perhaps the second easiest modification, aside from an intake maybe.

Here you go: zerothread?id=293744 I did this a long time ago and I can assure you, it's pretty simple.

5000k (left) vs 6000k(right) - they are from the same manufacturer with the same ballast

I was leaning towards 5000K HID Kit, but after seeing this pic, I like 6000k more.

Does your installation presume a prewiring? And where did you buy the HID? How much?thx

If you read the entire thread, you'll see that it's basically a plug-and-play deal. The hardest thing to do will be finding a mount position for your ballasts.

actually the 5000k (above left) does not show the true color of itHere's a picture of 5000k on Scion Tc w/ projectors

I will definitely go with 5000k since I read that many people are regretting of having 6000k instead of 5000k

Yup I'd suggest the same if you want a nice CLEAN install with proper areas to mount the ballast and tie up the wiring in either corners of the bumper....thats what I did and you cant see a single wire OR ballast....it looks factory.

so i ended up going through the wheel well. everything was going perfectly fine until i pulled a wire too hard and it came off. It ended up getting pretty late so i decided to wait till tommorow to fix it. Already go one side just need the passengers side. Tommorow will be a good day, i can already tell
