I don't understand why anybody would say carfax is a joke. I want to do all the research I can before I buy a car. Obviously you don't make a final decision based on what carfax tells you but shoot it helps!

i think the ripoff is having the potential buyer pay for it. a seller should have available. it would be a onetime pay of $30 for them (which they'd get back once car is sold) and would make them seem a million times more reliable as a seller.

I bought a autocheck account it was 30 or 40 dollars and i get unlimited use. I feel like it was definitely worth it. I mean, when I was searching for my car for a few weeks before I bought my Z I looked at like 8 or 9 cars, all sold privately.

It is good piece of mind knowing where the car has been registered, how many times the title had been transferred, if it was ever stolen, and it even tells you about some maintenance stuff and when it passed or failed state inspections.

There is nothing that substitutes taking the car to an experienced, trustworthy mechanic though. Just my .02

i wanna cry!!! my Z has been in the shop for 2 days! it was supposed to be ready today and when i went to leave it wouldnt turn on again!!!! apparently the wires were all rotten and he had to replace them but now he has to look at all the wiring again to see if there's anything else rotten or broken or what not! i'm wanna cryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

i also changed my front brakes and my calipers were frozen from all the rust so i had to get new oness..
