Yet another example of how much of a badass tg can be lmao. That's hilarious.

Eh, depends on exactly what is being done. Get an itemized list. If they offer you a fuel filter, turn it down, buy your own, and install it yourself. It's 3 screws right on top of the engine bay. Get a list and post it up and we'll tell you what you can do yourself. A LOT of "tune up" items are easily replaced.

Vanessa, I honestly recommend you doing the "tune-up" yourself. You can do the spark plugs and the fuel filter. It's not that hard and you will feel good about it. Now for a set of NGK PFR series plugs on an NA it's gonna be about 65 bucks. The fuel filter is about 12 or so. Really I don't know what else there is to tune-up.

But yeah, you can do it, you don't need many tools either.

10mm socket, phillips screwdriver...... maybe a 10mm wrench. I honestly can't think of any other tools you may need. Maybe a pair of pliers.

It all depends on the mechanic I guess... If it's a new car in the house, a good mechanic would be helpful because during the tune-up, he could detect other issues that would go by a not so well trained eye.

But yes, if it just routine maintenance (spark plugs, filters, oil, etc) it is easy enough to be done by a lady with the right tools...

Regarding the suspension... Maybe your shocks are on the way out... Also the type of tires do influence (if they have very stiff sidewalls) but that shouldn't be very noticeable on your tires (stock tires have high profile). On low profile tires it would be much more noticeable.I would bet on the shocks. There are machines to diagnose that... On a mechanic...

Don't forget about the hard liquor (to chill you out and keep you from killing/breaking things)

Do you mean the difference between a pump gas (street driving) tune and a race gas (track/high performance) tune?

i will definitely try my best to be patient. the thing though is that there's a lot of pressure at the same time. you see his car finally gave out and he had to rent a car for the past week and he can't afford that anymore!! so he really needs to pick it up and drive on his own that same day. lol....no pressure.

haha well hopefully he is a quick learner. tell him to watch you drive..... and not to be afraid.. he is in control not the car..... i think that is what people fear.... that something bad will happen..... practice in open parking lot then move to small non-busy streets.... practice launching from a complete stop... that is the most challenging part.....

First gear is definitely the hardest part. He's watched me a lot and has googled how a manual transmission works so he's prepared in theory. now he just has to practice. I drove on my own after one lesson and although it was a rough ride i did it lol so i'm hoping he's able to do the same.

He googled how a manual transmission works in attempts to learn how to drive one?

Oh, I forgot two things: you need a socket extension (at least 2 inches long) and a spark plug socket. THAT is all you need.

So, I went to my first local meet Saturday night. Tbh, it was alright. I was kind of the new guy as I just joined the forum like a week before the meet. Most of the guys weren't all that friendly either. I'll probably give it another shot before I jump to conclusions. Overall, we had like 27 people I think? We went to a party place with go carts, minigolf, rockclimbing, lazer tag etc. There was one other Z there, and tbh, he didn't really seem like an enthusiast. The guy with the black FD that's backing up in one of the pictures was probably the coolest guy there lol.

That's kind of how it is sometimes with meets and all that. People just don't really talk to someone when they don't know what all they are into. I'm sure the people there will open up not too long after.

When first learning the car and going hands on with it breaking somthing is always on your mind. But honestly I recommended that you do it becuase you can't break anything very easily doing what you are doing. Changing Spark plugs on our cars is quite easy.
