my co worker trisha taught me how to drive a stick:

she took me to a parking lot, thinking she was gonna teach me there..she drove the car and stop it right at the parking lot exit, she put the car in neutral, got out, told me to get in the driver side. i refused. there was already traffic building behind us, she wasn't about to go back in the driver side, so i was forced to switch.

long story short, i drove to her house through traffic. about 6 blocks away. took me about 15 minutes.

My dad taught me to drive stick in his company truck: Dodge Ram 2500HD Flatbed dually with a 6 speed transmission and granny gear (start in 2nd when not towing).

That turbo V8 6.4L? Diesel was a BEAST!

Started driving sticks when I was 13... Drove a auto for the first time some 5 years ago (or when I was 28 or so)...

It takes a couple of miles to recalibrate NOT to use the left leg. It takes some discipline to avoid going for the clutch when stopping (and hitting the brake with the left leg with full strength sending your head to the steering wheel). :D

By the way, anyone has a clue why usually the brake pedal on autos is so freaking HUGE?!

It was probably the 5.9L Cummins I6. Fords diesel is a V8. All other truck afaik are straight 6's.

And yes, torque is delicious

I'd guess its cause theres nothing else in the way down there so they want to make it as big as possible (gives the idiots who just jam there foot in the direction of the firewall when they need to stop in a hurry a better chance of success).

Yeah, makes sence... It also gives a chance for the "stick" drivers to make a fool of themselves...

Well, it only takes 25 seconds to make 25 crosses... So you still had 24.5 minutes for the essay

Just messing with you... Hope it turns out ok.

yea, she didn't answer and i got a text saying she is on the phone with the shipping company right now. she never called me back, i called and she didn't answer.

i went ahead and called the shipping company to check the status, the order is placed. but not paid yet. they say they'll call her for me and call me back.

hadn't heard back from both.

Did you write inthe memo space on the check what it was for? That, along with the threads you posted, would give you proof saying that you bought it in the event that she stiffs you. I'd call her again.

well i've missed a few posts i see...

HI GUYS!!

so Ive had an interesting few days! I went ahead and taught Seth how to drive stick and I decided to teach him how to get the car going with the clutch alone cuz i thought if you can get used to doing that, the rest should be cake! and it sure was! we practiced for lik 20 mins in a parking lot then i had him drive me home =) he stalled before he left which was funny but he's got it! yay!

then i went to AC for 3 nights and won $400 at p0ker but then lost 280 =/ booo...but it paid for half the trip so its all gooood...i'm totally hungover at work right now. Also my car wont start! i was having some problems with a terminal and i got a new one and it was ok and now it wont start. it was cranking though! i gave it jump either way and nothing. i have to get it towed on mon to the mechanic..sooo not happpy about this. =/

PTU (power transistor unit, if the recall hasn't been done), AKA ignitor, or the CAS unit/connections. That's the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of starting problems.

Since you said it will crank I'd try the CAS first. It's easy to find just pop the hood and look at the timing belt covers. It's the silver circle unit on the right timing cover. Check the connections on it and see if they are clean.

Cleaning it or replacing it. As far as the PTU goes, if it is black, it hasn't had the recall done on it, and the dealer will do it for free.

Although at first glance, it doesn't sound like the PTU since that issue was heat related. Her car doesn't even fire up so.... But bad contacts to the PTU could do that I guess...

:cry

I'm sure it'll be ok. Probably just a fuse or relay.
