Just wanted to add my two cents, EXCELLENT job and a big wow! I'm so envious that you're so far along. I hope I can get my KAT to be as clean as yours. Besides the time, I know you;re speding some big bucks building it the way your going having checked the cost on your options. I know that the Ground Zero Mani is one of the more expensive mani's out there, besides the Full Race's version and the Xcessive intake system is a shiney penny too. I steered away for it because of the very issues you had t odeal with the IAVC, fortunately it's under the plenom so it won't be so visible. How have you dealt with all the other vacum lines inherent on the KADE intake side? Great work soemthing to be proud or for sure...

Several reasons for keeping the IACV, some of which have been touched on.

Keeping the throttle "cracked open" doesn't resolve the idle issues, nor does it allow the car to run properly during cold starts.

It also doesn't allow normal deceleration such as one experiences on a freeway offramp, and downshifting through every single gear is for ricers and clowns.

A car that stalls, even ONCE, is an unsafe car - I don't jury-rig anything.

I PERSONALLY took EVERY SINGLE bolt, nut, washer and connector on this engine, cleaned it on a wire wheel, zinc-plated it, and polished it.

Plating kit from Eastwood was like $70 - Well worth it.

Remember - This car represents 240sx Club of America.

What a beast. I once thought about doing that to all my bolts, and then realized I was too lazy and lacked patience.

I always wanted to buy that. So it works well then?

The engine is looking great so far. I'm really in awe at how clean it is and that you haven't spared any expense on making the motor perfect. I don't know if it was mentioned earlier, but what are your plans for the drivetrain?

Drivetrain plans?

Planning on letting this engine have a leisurely life, approx 8-10 lbs of boost, ACT S/S clutch, OEM flywheel, OEM driveshaft, 4.36 VLSD. Pretty much the way it was before...

Was wondering if you had the throttle body bored out to take advantage of the Xcessive intake, can't tell from the photos?

Not at present - I need to do some research on the effect of throttle body modifications on TPS.

As long as the TPS settings are the same, you're golden. But there isn't any sense in upgrading the TB unless your IC piping is larger in diameter.

That's what I thought. And I'm running relatively small IC piping (at least on the hot side).

Charlie, thanks.... Since this thing is gonna be THE traveling billboard for 240sxConvertible.com and 240sx.org, it HAS to be done right.

And yeah, I *might* turn up the boost this winter.

No need to flip it upside down anymore Anthony. Xcessive changed the design slightly. Greg actually got the first run of the new batch.

Greg, lookin great....

The brass barbed fittings on the intake manifold might cause the vacuum hose to hit the hood or sit too close to it...i would definitely go for some 90 degree ones (whether its from a local parts store or something like McMaster.com)

thats exactly what i was thinking about those fittings. def get some 90s as i can tell the hoses will be hitting the hood. looks good though.
