I was on the ohio turn pike and I almost hit the bottom of the gauge cluster. I don't know how fast that is due to the cluster markings stop at 110. I also had no speed cut due to the auto to manual conversion and the J30 lsd with a slightly longer gearing. Nick

Not sure about the s13s, but s14s have a fuel cut at 118. I have read about it and experienced it first hand :)

yes there is a cut off at 110. theres ways to get around it. on your ecu harness there is a green wire with a yellow stripe. it is the 7 wire down. cut it. then a couple of things might happen

1)no cruise control2) check engine light might come on3) you have no limit as to how fast you can go

There is always a limit. I have heard of my car being limited by aerodynamics. But I have yet to get to that point.

most people will never touch the aerodynamic limit of their car. but its my understanding that once you get there no matter what you drive it feels like a brick on toy car wheels

hehe... so how true is the rumor of swapping ecu's from automatics which arguably don't have a governor?

don't mean to sound too skeptical, but can anyone else verify this?

(s13 w/kade) i put my needle on the tripmeter, i estimate ~120ish, then the fuel cut kicked in. so maybe 118 like the s14

I get mine up to 115 or so and a hand comes out of the steering wheel and slaps me..

Feels like the thing hits a wall it just like drops to 70 - 80mph

Anywho.. car feels like is gliding on air @ 110

I hit about 135mph in fifth @ about 6700rpms. I was getting chased by my friends turbo VW. He said he was hitting 135 and he wasn't gaining on me.

I drive a '97 auto and have pushed the speedo past 120mph and it was still pulling when the needle topped out at the odometer reset.

who cares? almost all stock speedos are not accurate past 100mph anyways so unless you have been clocked with a radar gun there is no way of telling. Sitting there at 5 grand on the tach trying to go faster isnt any fun, I'd rather be averaging 30 mph at an autocross meet.

Everybody is just sharing their experiences, obviously some people care. Yes they may be off a little or alot in some rim/tire setups. No need to share negative opinions, and yes off topic autocrossing is fun and less dangerious. Nick

Im not trying to put down anyone, But this topic has been discussed MANY times and there really isnt any point to it. Nothing pisses me off more than some arsehole flying by me at 100+ and endangering my life and my passengers' lives just because he wants to see how fast his car goes. If you live in the middle of no-where and you can go that fast on roads, great, have fun. I admit, im guilty of driving 100+, and i realize how foolish i was to do so, and i dont condone others doing it either.

I take extra precautions when I'm approaching other cars at 100+. I make sure I keep both hands on the camera.

Sometimes people should keep things to themself. Yes many people realize its stupid. I also believe moderators should keep profanity down and not use it themselves. Nick

Not very, you cant use an ecu from and auto on a manual.

574-240sx, except that j-spec is 100% correct. And it has been discussed many time.

The 240sx has a 118mph speed limiter. I've bounced off it in my old 240 a few times at the racetrack (VIR), but never on the street. You gotta make sure no one is right behind you when you hit it because trust me it works. But if you disconnect the speed limiter, my guess is you'll top out about 130. But there are a lot of factors that may reduce it: headwind, uphill instead of downhill, those oversized wings and certain body kits, windows down.

Entity: that was great.
