stock-wise, i've gotten up to 118 before it cut out. i was trying to go faster than 180km/h to prove an international friend wrong, it was scary as a butt when i braked though. everything started shaking and i think the brakes wouldn't kick in. i think it may be balance or something

this may have been discussed bunches of times before so you might get flamed

i drive s14 btw

and i'm sure you could go faster without the limiter

I was shocked that she even went that fast in traffic (not thick but there) I dared her and she went for it...go figure...those are pretty good cars though....at the time she had like 170,000miles on it and now near 175 thousand miles......

Mine says 385k, but the odo is broken, it stoped for awhile around 230k, then started counting by tens of 1000's..

What did you have done to your Civic?? You had to have quite a bit done to get to 145, cuz stock they only do 126-130 or so.

i use to walk my friends 2000 Si from about a car and a halfs length ahead until i hit 110 then i had to call the quits, then i found out that there is this wire that you cut at the ECU that removes the speed limiter. . . first day I got it i know i had to have been going faster then 130 (no way to know for sure) . . but since then I havent tried it again but its good to know I can go past 110 now if I ever felt like it.

185mph, 305kph in my porsche, 270kph in my old m3, m5. but the 240 is governed at 190kph, it feels nice, its very stable.

I read somewhere (possibly on these forums) that u could cut a wire from a sensor in the transmission that goes to the speedometer and ecu and it will eliminate the electronic limiter. is this true? and if not does anyone kno of a device that can be bought to eliminate the limiter?

i think u may be able to put an ecu from an automatic into one on a 5speed and it will work, tho the check engine light will always be blinking, forgot if u have to reset it or have something in the ecu fixed to cure that problem

240sx speed governor is set at 118mph. I've bounced off it a few times in my old 240sx at the track (never on the street). FAQ has some good threads on disconnecting it.

140 on I-17 northbound towards Flagstaff. Still had plenty of pedal and was still pulling. She's supposed to be good up to 160 but the road gets AWFUL narrow at that speed...

this topic comes up every once in awhile . . . speed junkys . . . but supposedly the transmission trick messes up something and causes problems . . . the method i used is you cut a wire at the ecu its a yellow with green stripe wire. If you look up at the Apexi Multichecker Install its the wire on the schematic they tell you to cut and use for the speedlimiter removal. . . only diffrence is if you just cut it it takes away the speed limiter at 110 but there is still another limiter at 4500-5000 RPMS in 5th gear which should still get you to 130 -145 mph from what im told, I actually dont know how fast ive gone since I still have the stock speedo but i know its way past 110 that the speedo reads.
