To be clear Duffman, post up your offest. Looks like you have the 5 lug FNs so would be higher offset than the +12 P45/Grid that most are talking about.

so 275's are overkill on a ka?? i just got p45's and they came with 215/40 up front which are really stretched and i don't like because am not slammed... and they have 235/45 in the rears which kind of look like a baloon to me...lol i was planing on 235/40 up front and 275/35 in the back.... yes?? no?? too much?? am only on lowered springs and i want the widest tire i can fit, the specs on the p45s are the usual 17x9 +12 offset

I just have the 235 all aound on my p45, but wanted to rotate, not sure what I can even fit on the rear with coilovers. Front definitely doesn't need to be larger than 235 due to rubbing issues.

got it! so 235's are good in the front, what about the rears? would 275's slow me down? cost me more gas mileage?

I like the way 235/40 and 255/40 looks for a decent fitting staggered setup. 275 would look silly on a 9j

Depends on sidewall. I have 265/30 on a 8.5 wheel and doesn't look too big. Most people are running 275/30 on it. But its a 19" and on a G35. But for an S13, yeah I'd stick with 255/40, I may go up to that when I need new tires, because my 235 in the rear can't handle 1st gear boost very well.

why would it look silly?? :( and wouldn't 255/40 have a pretty big sidewall?? the 235/45's rubbed in the back of my car... and a 255/40 is an even bigger tire with an even bigger sidewall...

255/40 has a smaller diameter and smaller sidewall than 235/45. Personally I think 275/x fits best on a +10", but that's just me. I feel like anything extra width turns into sidewall, but like biggie already said, it really depends on sidewall and wheel diameter.

got it chief then i'll probably stick to 255.... gotta go back to tire rack and re learn how to read tire sizes, i thought the 40 was the percentage of the 255 that turns into side wall

It is. 255 x 0.40 < 235 x 0.45

i never knew this!

for some reason i thought that a 40 sidewall was a 40 sidewall no matter what it was on

also for some reason the sidewall on 275 30 looks thinner than the side wall on a 195 40

i mean if you do the math they should come out to be roughly the same...

although i heard this was true i never really could fathom it...anybody got a reason as to why they look different? is it me just being a horrible judge haha

Each tire is also going to be a little different on sidewall though too. So you'd have to be looking at the same brand and model of tire to compare correctly.

oh ok that would explain it...cause i always figured that the sidewall was never really an exact measurement

thanks for the input that helps haha

Heres 225/45/17 again but with Federal tires instead of falkens.

VERY little stretch
