That's a LOT of money for such a small part. I bet you can find more creative ways to add some bling to your engine bay.

Post a picture of what your engine bay looks like currently, and we'll throw out some ideas for you.

well, first you need to clean up the engine bay after that here is some JDM tyte blingness I would add:

1. Alluminum coolant resivoir2. Oil catch tank3. "cold air intake" alluminum pipe4. metal heat sheild for brake booster5. put a little conical filter on the valve cover breather6. paint the valve cover7. cooling plate8. NISMO oil and radiator cap9. steel braid covers for lines

It should look pretty sweet after that! those are also my plans btw haha

Blue silicon hoses will look sweet, that's my current engine bay mod in progress right now.

I think everything that you, and others have mentioned so far will definitely make it look cool. Make sure you keep that engine bay sparkling clean from now on though, haha

I think a header would look cool too.

I got one of those AG pulleys and it is really nice. it makes the car "feel" faster because I dont have to be pushing the pedal to the floor to get it to go anywere. its real nice combined with my z32/350z rotors and my b&m shifter. its pretty nice to just improve on the small driver inputs that you use every time you drive the car.

Great starter's list Krash! Family's always asking, "What do you want for Father's Day, birthday, x-mas, etc." Now here's a list you can give them for "relatively" inexpensive items that we might not buy for ourselves but would love to have.

sigh...

"20% better response" has absolutely nothing to do with engine performance. Get your critical thinking caps out...

The only things they can change on the pulley are weight (due to material) and ratio (how far you need to push the pedal to how much the throttle body opens).

How much differences is a couple of ounces going to make? As far as the force required to actually push the gas pedal - none whatsoever. The resistance in the pedal is mostly from the spring on the throttle body and then some friction in the cable. Those don't change at all with this new pulley so the actual pedal force is going to be 99% or more unchanged.

In the overall scheme of total weight reduction, you might save a few grams. Worth the money? You decide.

The only thing this little upgrade has to offer is changing the ratio between pedal travel and throttle body opening. Assuming this "20% better response" actually has some sort of meaning, I'm guessing you only have to push the pedal 80% as far to get to WOT compared to stock.

If that's true, you know what happens if you mash the throttle to the floor with too much force? You're going to snap the throttle cable. Unless you adjust the gas pedal to either stop going down once you reach WOT or adjust the cable and pedal such that the pedal is still at the floor at WOT, this isn't going to work.

In conclusion: rice.

That being said, I've never seen or used one of these things in my life. I could be a little off base, but this is just my opinions based on my experience and reasoning. Take it for what it's worth.

RJ, if you want to spiffy-up your engine bay, start by cleaning it. Then do some of the stuff Krash suggested.

DeX is dead on.. You're not going to see any performance gains from that pulley. But it's clear that is not your goal here, so we'll go easy on you.

Instead of spending $90 on that thing, I'd take your pulley off and just spray paint it with the color of your choice. Sure it won't look quite as good as anodized metal, but it's such a small piece, nobody will know unless they look really really close.

Here's some suggestions from your's truly: Glitzy and Shiny metallic do not necessarily make for great clean engine bays, unless you add clean and simple with them. Even a stock engine bay can be beautiful if it's clean and glossy. Some of the best engine bays in the world are the ones that are simple. Get rid of excess wiring, piping, and parts that are not needed.

1.) Clean the heck out of that engine bay!

2.) Get a nice cold air intake pipe. It will clean up the bay by replacing old dusty plastic with nice metal, but more than that, it will "clean up" the engine bay by simplifying things, removing excess tubes and hoses and making things look more organized. Then you can route your air filter down toward the wheel well and get it out of sight. Plus this will actually net you a few hp by getting you some cooler temp air.

3.) Plug wires and silicon hoses are great plans... good idea!

4.) Aluminum overflow tank is nice, but I'd go with one of the round tube ones from this thread. zer...age=3

5.) Send your valve cover off to NICO's resident powder coater.zerothread/336346

6.) Rotorimp strut tower bar. It will look nice, but this is 90% for performance gains. It will really tighten up the front end and solidify the car a bit more. zerothread/270421

7.) Polish the intake manifold runners and the exhaust manifold heat shield. Get a dremmel or some rotary tool and set aside a couple hours to polish the heck out of the intake manifold runners and heat shield. If you wanted to you could just get some high temp silver paint for the heat shield.

8.) Cooling panel. Probably not very cost effective, but looks awesome on 94_240sx car.

9.) Strut tower plates from 94_240sx's car:

10.) Read more from 94_240sx's thread:zer...age=1

Good luck and happy modding!!!

If really 'super cheap' you let me know.

Oh and someone needs to get to work on a cheap Alum cooling panel.

As far as the parts go, I'll try to remember... when you see updates on my thread with me removing parts that won't work with a Holset.... Remind me.

Regarding the cooling panel... I fully agree. There's a guy on ebay who was selling the underplates and cooling panels. Both Nemo and myself contacted this guy asking to mass produce for Nico and he pretty much blew us off. So Nemo "contracted" someone else to make the underplates. They turned out GREAT.

I'll buy one from that guy on ebay and send it to Nemo if his source will make those too... I don't have the time to find someone to make them up here and then ship out parts. If someone wants to get on this, I'll contribute for sure.

I meant to say Agency Power, that is the brand of the TB pulley. and yeah I had my doubts about it also but I picked it up off a wrecked 240 for $20 and was very impressed with it. it just makes the car feel less 4 bangerish obviously it doesnt make any additional HP or torque but you will notice a lot less of happening to put your foot in it all the time. I dont think it is worth the $90 or what ever though.

-RJ-, if you think about it a little more, this is the exact opposite of performance gain...

You have 20% less throttle control. Performance wise or not, that's just straight stupid.

lol that would be awesome but i think the most someone would get is a sticker or some lug nuts.

speaking of which my lug key broke so now i cant take off my rims

is there a site that sells just keys? i bought these lugs with spacers and the guy i bought it from doesnt know where it came from

do you know what brand they are? then you could just go pick up a new set of lugs from that company, which would include teh key. Unless theyre McGard locks or something, then you should probably contact the company. anyway, theres always a workaround, it's impossible to keep your wheels safe unless you keep your car in a garage

go to a sears and get the locking lug nut remover sockets.

I have them, they work great! I lost my key and needed to go get them. Costed like 25 or so for 3 sockets that work for like 6 different sizes of lugs.

That makes me feel good about the security of my locking lugs. Any old Joe can go down to sears and get cheap set of keys/sockets to yank my wheels. BOOOO!!!!!

That's why you get the special kyoei "magnetic" dency locking wheel locks - top piece of lugnut will spin & spin w/o loosening the lock unless key is inserted. Some special propertie in the lug nut & key (not normal magnets) allows you to open lug nut - of course, I'm sure there is a way around it, but much much harder - of course, also much much harder if you lose that piece that opens the lug nuts.

Am I the king of search or what? :P... sometimes...
