Even when they try to change, they are too ignorant to do it right. Read this thread

http://www.j-body.org/forums/r...31015

This is the best quote from it about an SR..."P.S. For people who are not ignorant and want to know some facts. Engine itself with accessories dynoes at 429 Horsepower at the crank with my stage two kit without intercooler @ 16 PSI. Still have not installed in tank fuel pump, fuel rail, 740 cc fuel injectors, and really cranked up the boost yet (going for 22psi sometime this weeek)."

My post is on page 3 (with the kitty in the sig)

Other than pointless Import vs. Domestic arguments, the best part of that whole thread was the first post.

What do you suppose a "laughing stalk" looks like? Does it look like an eyestalk, only much funnier? :D

the "laughing stalk" is the turn signal stalk on most gm cars that had intermittent wipers , every time you turn on your turn signal the damned wipepers go off , i forget off hand what caused it but it had soemthing to do with all of those contacts inside that swicth , one stalk for cruise, wipers, washer, turn signals and hi/low beam

my deville is one fo the first 100k+ GMs that ive seen that doesnt have this problem

the 240 sx's look like a$$......sorry just my opinion. And I would never spend $15,000 on an 11 yr old car. Yeah it will have 300 HP, but it wont be reliable.

Anyways have fun.....................

BWAHAHAHAHAHA what the hell does this guy know?

And at the end of the day you have to face your women and realize you are driving a Cavalier or a Sun Fire. The 240 is a hell of a lot sexier of a car than a J Body and it is a sportier car! I think reliability is a factor on any tuned or modified car. You can say the same thing about their modified cars. The simple fact is, look at the origin of each car. I like the origins of the 240 over the Cavalier. Heck, if it weren’t for the rally inspired origins of the Impreza, I would have a seriously hard time buying one. I think you are making the right decision.

BTW-When I owned a Nissan 240sx, my wife wanted the drive the car more than my WRX. I personally like the WRX over the 240, but I think that says something that she kept stealing the car to drive it.

All I know is that J-bodies are not reliable. The whole reason I was a member of that forum was because 2.5 years ago I had a cavalier that had just about everything you could do to it, and it still sucked. I bought the car new in 99 and by the time I got rid of it I had put about 45k miles on it. During that time I had to replace the brakes 5 FUKIN TIMES because the rotors would warp and the pads would literally explode (seriously, they would blow to pieces randomly) At about 30k miles the transmission started missing gears and nott shifting right and I took it to a dealership and told them about it, but they voided my warranty because they said my intake ruined the transmission. What kind of crap is that? I looked into it a bit further with the help of an independent auto trans shop and was told that one of the belts inside the transmission came off or something and was rubbing this other dealie and causing it to get hot and not shift. He said it would cost approx $1500 for a rebuild and $2500 for a new transmission. I said fook that and dropped that piece.

Now I have a 240 and the only time it ever "broke down" on me was when I ran it out of gas... in a chevy dealership's parking lot :D

well, that's how many american-made cars are now. Companies know that if they design cars to die quickly, you'll have to buy a new one, thats why nothing lasts as long as it did back in the day.

Actually the contrary. Girls like them and they are fun to drive. Two different things. Though J-Bodies are chick cars. I always see chicks driving Grand Ams, Cavs and Sunfires.

I see a lot of hot chicks driving the S14.

fun to drive indeed though, in a way it's like a modern mustang, wasn't the S13 marketed at secretary types over here? I know the Mustang was when it first came out way back...

correct MR1der. Around Nissan dealerships the 240 was refered to as the 'secritarys car'. Men drove 300s women drove 240s.

Oh darn.. my car was designed to be appealing to women.. let me sell it quick and buy an american disposable economy car!

seems most american cars right now could easily be deemed a "girlie" car though, like the Cavalier, if ever a girl car, that's it....well maybe the neon

but when you look at it, just like the mustang, the quickly evolved to something far better than just a x chromosome commute machine didn't it?

There is a girl here in town w/ a '95 se auto. quote from her: "I wouldnt' trade this car for the world. its so much fun and entertaining to drive!" yes, her words. She loves her car alot, and I can tell by the way she talks about it.
