Do you have this pic in a higher resolution, maybe? I'd love to read the text, maybe they wrote something about the chassis strengthening.

I want a T-top... But not on a 240. For some reason, all those pics look unredeemably fugly to me. I much rather have one of these:

I think you are going to need as much support as a convertible. The rear pillars are not going to do much with out the roof. I think you best option for strength is a custom 6 pt rollcage if you want the targa top and handling performance. The amount of material you would need to strengthen the frame near the frame rails is huge vs less material farther away from the frame.

If you calculatie bending stress there are three components that effect the bending stress.

stress = (bending moment * c)/inchs to the power of 4

the bending moment is the acutal bending force.c is the distance to the outer most fiber away from the center of the member in bending.Inchs to te power of 4 is the most important. It is a calculated by taking into account how much material is available to resist bending and where that material is relative to the bending center line.

Point is the more material you have farther out the greater the inch4 is and the lower the bending stress therefore cage . . . .

ive been considering thison my 90 hatch for a while now... some thoughts ive considered are are finding a delsol targa set up and cutting it out and modifing it to fit mine? or possibly a z31 like some one else suggested. i have a z32 parts car for my tt swap that i could consceivably cut out... my issue is i would have to modify the striping to be uniform all the way accross instead of split in the middle... also i could possibly some how reskin(with the pre-existing 240roof metal) the z32 t tops... im maily intereseted in weather proofing it, making it look lagit which will require much metal fab i fear, and locking mechanism...

my very un researched plan so far is to either disassemble the z32 unit and bastardize it all on the the peice i cut from the 240 OR cut and paste the whole application from the z to the 240 and in the process just fiberglassing the t's together... but im sure that if that process was made extremly more simple by just cutting and pasting the whole application and leaving it a t top instead of doing and actual targe then it would be hard for me to expend the extra effort.... any ideas???

suggested suggestions would be does any one know how the locking mechanism work and how the are attached to a z32...is that something i can just unbolt or will i have to cut? Is the roof on a 240 just sheet metal or what? Did anyone get ahold the contact info for that german company that supposedly did a few conversions.... Has any one seen a t topped 240 andif so post the pic??? i may just cut it and clean it up a bit with sheet metal and leave it roadster style.... but its my dd for now so

I'm surprised no one is worried about aerodynamics, I'm sure it would be cool to cruise around town, but when you get it out on the highway i dont know where all that air would go. The del sol has the rear glass that goes down that lets the air flow out.
