OK So I picked up the Turbo.

It's a:Hotside- Turbonetics 20359T3 .82 A/r (Trim unknown)

Coldside- GarrettT04E .60 A/r (Trim unknown)Was told it was a .60 trimDefinetly bigger than my other T3/T04E either .48 or .50 trim.

CHRA- Believe its a GarrettWater and OilCould be Single Ball Bearing

No shaft play in or out. A little shaft play side to side.Spins freely stays spinning for a while, one reason why I belive it is a BB.

But with this huge .82 A/R Turbine that's going to make more lag correct.(the .82 and the .48 or .63 look almost the same, haven't measure either yet though.)

But I'm going to strap it on and see how she'll work with my motor.

Don't think those specs are for this turbo though, it might be the specs on his current turbo.

I think you mean MX-5... MX-6 is FWD. I saw that and was like 'WTF?'

Either way, I think your turbo sounds pretty slick. I can't wait to hear your results!

Yeah welll he gets the extra MX-1 because he's awesome behind the wheel. LOL

Anyone know What size the Fittings are on a Garrett T3/T4???? (Water & Oil)

Want to hook it up this weekend, but it didn't come with lines.

Oil feed: 1/8" NPTOil drain: standard RB20/25 2 bolt flange with 2" spacing IIRC. Function 7 makes two drain flanges, one with 1/2" NPT female port and the other with a AN-10 male fitting, search ebay for T3 drain flange.

Coolant feed: 3/8" NPTCoolant Drain: 3/8" NPT

I'll send you a file with the Earls PN#s and diagram I'm going to use when I do my AN lines if you like? It'll save you a few minutes at ANplumbing.com

Oh ok awesome!!!You are the man once again!!!

I already have the oil lines then, and I just need the Coolant lines.Nice.

I know the Coolant Return is 14mm x 1.25.So what I'm going to do for now.Is try to see if I can get these fittings with barbed nipples on it.Because I wanna fire it up this weekend.

I think the coolant feed and drain ports are 3/8" npt. I'll check in a bit

Are you going to usa a m14x1.5 to 1/2NPT coupler for the cooland feed on the block? Or are you re-using the banjo fittings and hardlines?

Yeah they are 3/8 NPT

I went to Home depot and got a male to Female 90* then got a male 3/8npt to male nipple (don't remember what size)I did that for both sides of the turbo.

For the block I bought the M14x1.5 banjo to male nipple and just used a heater hose from pepboys.

turbo coolant/oil supplies are not pipe thread...pipe thread might work but it is not right.most garrett turbos i have seen use the same fittings as the stock nissan turbos.

Really... HmmmmCause I screwed them in with no problem.I made sure because someone told me that they fit. And I was skeptical so I made sure to be very careful.

But either way they work pretty well.The better way would be I guess to use the stock banjo bolt and order the banjo fitting to nipple or whatever you want.

Either way they are a pretty easy install.

OK, so I got my ITM welded. No more boost leak from there.Changed out my fouled plugs.Fired up the car, played with the BOV and she was running good.

But after taking a couple rides in my buddy's rb20 with a 25 turbo, I'm kinda jealous of his car.

My car's not insured so I couldn't take her out on the street, but I did take her around my neighborhood.

I'm a bit disappointed, although I don't have a tach hooked up and I have yet to set the timing exactly.

When I step on the gas you have to wait about 5-6 secs for the car to spool up then take off.

I'm gonna hook up my electronics (BC, TT and Tach) and set my timing correctly.Then see how the car feels.

But... I'm thinking when I change my manifold/fix my broken stud. I'm gonna change my turbine housing.

What size housing should I get?And the housing has to be machined for the wheel I'm using correct? Or do I order a housing that fits my wheel?

itll probably be easier to order a housing thatll fit your wheel.

check out atp turbo. they have a huge selection of garrett turbine and compressor sides

OK problem!!!!

I've plotted the compressor map for my turbo....T3/T04E

Compressor: TO4E compressor 60 trim .60 A/RTurbine: T3 Stage II .82 A/R

Plotted for both 15 psi (WG minimum) and 22 PSI (shooting for about 400hp)

Problem is that at 15psi 3K, & 4K are out of the efficiency islands, but on the SURGE side.

And at 22psi 3k, 4k & 5k are to the left of the surge line.

I do understand that I'm not going to have 22 psi at 3K or even 4K.But by 5K I would hope to have full boost. Take a look of the Compressor map that I plotted.Maybe I did it wrong.I used this excel sheet I found on Bimmer Forums.I couldn't find the Sheet that MELLO had, so if anyone has it please forward it to me!!

It's been a while but did u have a intake manifold? how much boost were u running? The way your turbo is ramping up is a little like my SC61. Did you try to tune the timing maps if it is the Same T3/T4?

Yeah I have a Top Hat motorsports upper plenum. I dunno if it flows but it works for my IC piping.

Yeah how much bigger is a SC61 vs mine?
The tune was a mixture of Carl's tune and a SAFC tune.
But I never had a chance to have Carl retune it after the dyno.

I'm actually going to change my Exhaust mani and the Turbine Housing to a .63.
This turbo is way too laggy for me. I prefer response.
But she's a beast on the highway!!

Where are you dyno's? Link me?

The exhaust wheel in the SC61 is a Stage 4 I think, in a .63 housing. The size of the exhaust exit out of the housing is 3".

I didn't print out my last dyno session but I didn't have my boost controller hooked up then and rom issues at the time.

My SC61 is laggy the boost response is a little better but it's no quick response just a highway killer.

Yeah looking at the dyno the SC61 must be much bigger than the T3/to4E.
At 4600 your at 100whp -----me: 170whp
At 5400 your at 200whp -----me: 240whp
But from 5600 to redline your car is a Beast!!!

What's your setup?

I'm only looking for 375-400whp but hopefully this .63 turbine housing will help me in the response dept.

I'm running .068 over, 3 angle valve job, everything else is stock.
Tophat ITM
Ebay Stock type Exhaust mani
t3/to4e 60 trim
640cc injectors
N60 - Maxima maf (at the moment), some dbag sold it as a N62
small IC 24x9x3
Chipped ECU

Nice setup!!! how is the Nistune?
Yeah I want cams but I already changed the valve springs to regular Z32 ones.
So I'd have to go for Pon cams.
Stock bottom end?

I can't wait till I get the new housing and Z32 maf and add some boost. Thinking around 20lbs
I have a Kazama copy I'm going to put on as well. Hopefully it'll hold up ok and line up with everything else.

Nistune is easy to use but I chose the path less traveled when I went with the Ford Lightning MAF blow through. My Rev limit is @ 8k but problems keep poping up so I can't seem to get a full boost pass @ 18psi. Stock bottom end also.

sweet, glad you finally got a dyno...looks like you need a bit more timing on top end to take advantage of the setup.

Any input on why he can't go to 8k rpms on 18psi Carl?

Carl - Yeah I can't wait to get the smaller housing and next manifold on.
Hopefully that timing will help me out a bit

My next problem will be a diff some wider rubber.
I'm only rocking some 225's all around

Julio - Not sure why he never took the car to 8K but I would only guess because the Tach wasn't hooked up at the time???
Carl set my rev limit to 8 or 8200 i believe.
But it looks like the powerband was falling off at 7K any way.
I bet a mild set of cams would help me out some!!
