Provided your car is level just fill the transmission until it starts to pour out the fill hole, apprx 2.5 bottles.

I don't see why a penetrant oil like PB Blaster would hurt it at all.

Reason i wanted to change my transmission fluid was becuase it would be cheap while I used a better oil.

Here's what i've spend so far:

1. 82 piece toolbox $55

2. breaker bar $25

3. redline oil 3 bottles $25

4. special pliers to take out the snap rings on shifter $10

5. PB blaster $2.50

total so far: $117.5

breaker bar and 82 piece toolbox is going back for sure, i just don't need them.

Still my fill plug is stuck there, but look what happened.

Today i went to goodyear to balance my right front wheel, since it has lost the small balancer weight. Well, they balanced it and all.

while in there, mechanic called me in, showed me my tires which badly needed replacement, DUHH, like i didn't know that. there goes the thank you for drifting.

anywayss, i asked them, and they tried to loosen up the transmission fill plug. after 2 minutes of pullling and trying differnt wrenches, it came loose.

Phhewww. Life is good. Here's the good part. Goodyear did all this for free. when it was time to pay, i put my credit card on register, and guy was like, since you got your previous 4 tires from us, its free.

i was like, are you serious???? WOW! Now thats a service, it doesn't cost much, but hey, as a customer, my soul was impressed upto the heaven.

So, this coming February i'm changing my tires, and guess where i'm going to get it done. Goodyear!!

Hopefully tomorrow redline mt-90 will be delivered at advance auto parts so i can pick it up.

Life can be good too.

If your fluid is old and/or if it still shifts hard after driving 10 miles or so, then change it. transmission warms up after 10-15 miles, and it should shift better. if you not satisfied shifting at that point while transmission still warm, then switch to redline mt-90. good stuff.

I'm gonna make a new thread and post pics, for people WHO WANTS TO KNOW. some do it in a bit, but hey, this was new to me and i did it.

check out new thread named "changind transmission fluid / oil on s13."
