I bought a 96 pathy with low miles (for a 96) for cheap back in august. Im new to car repair and want to replace my suspension (front struts, rear shocks and spring, ball joints, end links...ect). I am at a loss in terms of parts, lots of shock/strut brands. I spend a lot of time on mountains roads and logging roads, I live in a very rural area with poorly maintained roads (part of the reason I bought an older car). Any advice on what to look for or tips for replacing the suspension are welcome.

Also try taking a stroll thru Rockauto.com. There is a good selection of parts, and they are separated between economy, standard or daily driver, and heavy duty. That should help give you an idea of what's out there.

If you hunt around on the internet you can usually find a 5 percent off code which helps offset shipping.

If you do a lot of offroad, I would avoid the economy class suspension parts. Those are more for the urban paved road environment. They are generally light duty parts.

I guess the "death sway" or wobble is probably the most common issue you hear about. That is caused by bad bushings in the rear upper and lower links / control arms, and mostly noticed at highway speeds. Lots of info on here about that!
