Hey guys,

This one is meant for the 2.5ers so all you 3.5 guys can finally be jealous of the 2.5 haha.

As you all know we have been working on developing a turbo kit for the 2007+ Altima coupe and sedan 2.5's. We are finished with development and are just waiting on some final dyno numbers, cost analysis, and a bit more endurance testing. The kit is now being moved over to the Sentra that we have here for further testing and development on that car. The other benefit to this is that the Sentra has a manual gearbox which will allow us to do some more fine tuning as well as get accurate power numbers.

Here is the question. How many people are GENUINELY interested in purchasing something like this? And, what price range would be acceptable? Also, how soon would you be ready to buy the kit?

The information that I am going to post in the poll is only speculation. The prices are not necessarily what the final cost will be. However, because we are going to be using this information to determine what we do with the kit we need HONEST answers. Please do not say that you would buy the kit because your buddy wants one and your voting for him as well. We need HONEST answers.

When filling out the poll, keep in mind that these kits will be between $3,500.00-$4,000.00. They will be non-intercooled with the possible option of upgrading to an intercooler at a later date. They will come pre-tuned with a piggy-back ECU. They will not be CARB legal. At this time we do not have an exact number for horsepower or torque gains but we expect very promising improvements.

Thanks for your time!

Kyle

I think many of the 2.5 owners, including myself, would like to put some miles on the car first before investing in a turbo. Maybe at 30k +

9 months to a year sounds good.

if i had extra 3-4k i would have bought 3.5. but it's still cool as hell, who knows maybe in the future when my financial situation improves i'll be able to afford one.

I would definitely be interested in a turbo within 9-12 months depending on the cost of install/total cost of parts (4-4500 is reasonable), total HP gains, fit and finish...

Also, the amount of noise it generates and adjustability would be important given that the car is my daily driver.

I think id honestly purchase it after my powertrain warranty 30k mile warranty runs out. But it honestly depends on how much hp it will produce and if it will be available for the CVT.

This will be available for the CVT. All of the development on the Altima was started on the CVT transmission.

it'll be good to know at what PSI its running at. i think the most the stock block of the prev gen QR can take is 5. but who knows about the new one? maybe 8? also did you guys actaully test drive it around and see how the CVT was at WOT with a turbo

is it just not carb legal when it 1st goes on sale or it will never be carb legal? when you guys do finally develop a kit for the 3.5 will it be carb legal? (i didn't vote or anything to corrupt the poles)

Good questions. Currently the kit will be set to 5 psi. We think this is a safe level of boost for a non-intercooled turbo kit on the 2.5 L.

This kit will never be CARB legal. It is near impossible to get CARB legality with aftermarket turbo kits...Just look at all the turbo kits for the Z's and G's that aren't even close to street legal.

well even though i live in cali, i dont have to do annual smog tests. i think thats only required from the bay area and south...up here in Humboldt you only need to smog your car before you sell it which is a good thing for me....but if i ever get around to getting this it wont be for a while because i want to see how other people's transmission hold up...and then i may consider (if i have money that is, but given the fact that i'm a college student i have no money for this now) but its still a great price for a turbo IMO

So does that mean it wouldn't pass a NY Inspection?

I want it now! But honestly, I'd be up for this after the 30,000 mile/3 year warranty runs out. By that time, it should be clear how well the car's power train holds up. Maybe by that time, there will be better internals for the QR25, allowing this (or another) kit to make more power, making all of us want to spend more of our hard-earned money! Also, what turbo is being used? I remember seeing pictures from when this first went into development, and it looked like a Garrett GT28 was being used; if so, that should be perfect for this engine... The major deciding factor, for myself as for many others, will of course be the cost. I am keeping my car relatively stock for now, because I have 2 years of free oil changes at my dealership, and I don't want them giving me any hassles because of after market parts (they already nagged at me about my Injen intake). After thats up, I plan on starting on more mechanical mods (suspension, wheels/tires, exhaust...) Mentioning the exhaust, what would be used with this kit?mcheddadi, you might like this...Sorry for the long post, too.

This is great, but I had a couple questions; why is it non-intercooled? There's a lot of room under the hood of 2.5's, we can certainly add an intercooler:) will it effect the driveability of the car, esp with the piggy back ecu? and last...will there be any need to do any mods to the drive line to accommodate it? The price of $3500 sounds good for a full kit.

If I had the extra $$ I'd get one as soon as they are available. What would come witht the kit? That would determine what I would pay for it. Im thinking the avg price would be $3-4k.

Mr Music... that sucks what a ****ty dealer... screw the free oil changes! do em yourself and mod away! my dealership embraces my ride!

I put a lot of miles on (almost 12k since august) and i also think that itd be something id do AFTER the warranty on the engine expires (that time would also allow more internals).. But then again i wish i could find the post where i said i wasnt interested in performance (pre fujita, eibach and nismo catback lol) Who knows i may buy it at launch date...

I didnt vote however, as i want to give honest #s

Well, being kind of broke doesn't the situation either. I have more important things to worry about. But, I definitely wouldn't mind doing changing my own oil (not like I don't know how).

Yeah traffic in GA sucks, that is why I moved to some apartments 4 miles away from where I work.

The turbo for the 2.5 is going to be sweet!!
