Eh, not so much. Superchargers are usually reserved for 6cyl and above, due to the leeching effect on the engine. I mean, don't get me wrong, Its been on production cars (Mini Cooper S, Merc 230 Kompressor), but they didn't have impressive numbers. Both under 190hp. Just saying, as far as forced induction goes, 4cyl are far more efficient with a turbo vs a supercharger.
Yeah thats what I was afraid of. Do you think the leeching effect would be bad? I guess for a car like the mini with about 130 or 140 hp, 190 is a good gain, but not when you pay that price for it.

I know the VQ35 is a great engine and is really tough, but I also know the 2.5 isnt so tough. I dont think it could really handle over 275hp.

i love the idea of putting a turbo in my car but honestly if i were to throw down around 5k for hp and tq gains I think i would have to also consider an engine swap for the 3.5

The 2.5 has 175hp stockcompared to the 3.5 with 270hp stock

i think i would rather just go with a 95hp gain rather than a 40hp gain with risks.

however if i were to get the turbo i would say anywhere from 9-12months

It would cost you far more to swap out everything you need to drop in a 3.5

A turbo sounds great but doesnt that add a buttload of extra wear on the engine? And I know that they arent that reliable sometimes. I would love the extra power but not if its gonna take a couple years off my engine's life.

Oh and as far as everyone is concerned with Dyno results for mods... Why cant yall just test it with an MT???

If i had the money and it wasn't my daily driver i would definatly do it. But all in all without a ECU this is dumb bc come on we top out at 113? So pointless.

I cant afford this either right now. i might get it in a couple years once my coupe is paid off, and whos knows by then, or even in a couple months, there could be an ECU reflash that removes the govenor.

there are all these threads about new products that i REALLY want to see made in production. i can't afford a turbo at the moment (and probably not for a long time), but i would to see fellow coupes with a turbo. but who knows, in a couple years maybe ill have a few extra Gs to spend..

No

I think they said there wasnt enough interest to invest the R&D into it. I did find a place online tho that custom fabs turbo kits. And its in...... Central Florida...lol

I definetly would be down to put money for this. I didnt have the money at the time to get the 3.5 so now im about to trade this 2.5 in for the 3.5 cause i got the money but if you guys could actually develop the turbo for the 2.5 that would be sweet and id definetly buy it. Im sick of the 3.5ers smoking me lol. Kyle or Josh do you guys have any estimate numbers on HP gains and what would it take for you to develop this cause im sure a lot of people that would buy it just arent speaking up

We posted a "gauging interest" thread about a year ago and found that there was just not enough of a market to warrant the tooling and manufacturing cost. Pricing estimates were right around 5K retail and there just didn't seem to be enough interest to support it so we killed the project.

i think you should start a new "gauging interest thread" something tells me it might go differently this time around

The thing is... the interest has been there... the people that are interested, most of them cant afford to put down 3-5k at the drop of a hat, i know id have to save for a while myself... hense why there is no kit for us 2.5ers yet.

sorry to bring back a dead thread but i really think if stillen was to redo this poll they would get different answers. I for one am extremely interested in a turbo and there are now multiple threads in the coupe form about turbos.

X2 or if you already have a lot of knowledge on turbo setups you can always piece one up together.

I would love to buy a turbo in like a year or so when my factory warranty runs out. $3,500 is more reasonable to me I guess but I would rather it be inter cooled. Props about MD inspection is that you do 1 inspection when you first buy the car then your good forever (or until you sell it). so carb emissions don't matter to me. The main thing that I would want, is my altima can still be a daily driver with the turbo, receive decent gas mileage still, but yet still has that power of a beast that the turbo unleashes! But I'm just one guy.

i also think they should bring back the interest thread.
