Apparently the 240 still isn't popular enough for Import Tuner to get the models right.

"It wasn't a hardcore performance piece by any stretch and, to make matters worse, Zoll had purchased the LE model, which lacked the mantle of sporty amenities afforded on the top-of-the-line SE, like five-lug hubs and a limited-slip differential."

My understanding was that the LE wasn't available until '97 and was actually just a SE with a buncha luxury options.

I stopped reading the article after that.

But my dad had to be himself and get me an Explorer....Well know he says i can get what i always wanted a 240!!! I would have to agree with NISMODAVE - where he says there hard to find a modded or clean 240 around this area....there 2 240sx's in our town.....there both beat to hell .......so im sorry if im jumping on the band wagon...but i had no chocie i got into it when i was looking for a car!! and no im not a ricer.....actually i hate rice thats all that is around here .....i hate it!!! :D but it will be nice cause it wont take much to beat them!

Damn all of you.... :)

I wish drifting would stay down low, no one would bother us that much on roads, and no one would go around and say "LOOK THATS A SILVIA DRIFT" I had my car for 2 years, and no one even knew what the hell drifting was around here (NY), I saw maybe like 5 240's, Now i see so many posers getting 240s and putting these huge wings on them, its freaggin sicking me. I wish the whole "RICE A Rony" would go back in to style. So people would leave us alone and let us drift in peace!

and to top that all of. God forbid if a put Silvia emblem on the rear trunk where its suppose to be. Now you get trashed oh its not silvia, and what not" oh shuve it up yours" I had that emblem changed since the day i baught my 240, As soon as i got home after i baught the car i ordered the Silvia emblem. Back then no one would say anything, now all of a sudden it rice if you have a silvia emblem. (get real) Chasis is S14 everything else is just a trim!

Face it, this was bound to happen. I have been around import performance for over 5 years and those first 2 years I spent alot of time hooping up Fox mustang coupes(lightest of the mustangs from the mid 80s till the 90s). I still have my love for mustangs as they were my first true love but i was astonished by ths 200sx silvias across the globe as ive been a subscriber to Japanese Performance mag sold throughout Europe and the UK. That mag was shown to me by a fellow mustang racer you also raced his MKIV supra TT. So gradually ive noticed that every so often people get a 240 but just because it was cheap then it goes from there. Then some get stupid ideas to rice the ****ing thing out. JESUS AGE CHRIST. I WISH I COULD MURDER THESE PEOPLE! but mainly it was to get back and forth then it started. Like with every great thing there has to be a catashtrophe.

Im getting ready to open Nurv Racing in September as of the moment and have had a few friends who became recent owners of 240 out for a show look on a s13 but couldnt find anything of the like so they ask me figuring I know. All I can say is there is a reason alot of rice crap isnt around for the 240 as there is for the Honda/Acura crownd and the now exploding Saturn groups, Nissan cars are performance cars. Tiny, mighty, light weight, and make you think again about how fast some honda is.

im blabbering, tired, and frustrated with hondas today... but you know what i mean :)

Nurv, I agree completely, the trend was pretty inevitable. Drifting was popular in Japan and it was just a matter of time before trends there and here trickle into each others markets. 240's in my neck of the woods are skyrocketing in price because of kids buying them up like they're crack whores buying from a local dealer.

My original plan was to get a z32 but after doing more searching on the maintainence costs decided on an s14 but eventually got an s13 since I figured I'd be able to get this and that for the s13 to make it comparable if not better than the s14. Fast forward 3 almost 4 years later with my fastback and it's strange to see some punk who would have driven a civic or integra looking at me in his 240 mugging at me as if he had something to prove. Not quite the image of 240sx owners I had previously but I guess times are changing.

honestly, I first got into the 240sx thing back when i was in 5th-6thgrade, and that was because I saw the Veilside kit for the S13. Time progressed as well as my knowledge for all things nissan. Im going into 11th grade this year. Before my love for nissans came, I had wanted an EK9 with a B18C with spoon and mugen everywhere, or an Si.

I have been into cars since 8th grade or so (im in 11th) and that was when I had a friend with a B16 CRX...I didn't want a honda, but I wanted a sleek looking car....freshmen year, first day of school, i get outta my dads car facing a black S13 hatch. I didn't know what it was, but I went back later and found that lo and behold, it was a nissan (had another friend with a 215K mile+ 300zx) and ever since I have wanted one. I never read mags or talked about cars with anyone. I really don't care for popularity at all, I am planning on keeping my 240 sleek and stock, exterior wise at least ;)

Well ive been into 240's almost to years now but didnt get mine until oct of last year. I was on them cause of wat they could be made into. Not jus cuz of an Sr but like all the JDM parts that you can get. I have a 91 240 hatch and i love my car. i wanna do a full 180sx/S15 look for it. get the taillights and wing and then the front be an S15. As for the engine goes i was thinking of an S15 SR if possible but im thinking of using the 2.4L KA and turboing that up. I say we all as Loyal nissan 240sx owners let nissan know we want a new updated 240sx.

That would've been great if we got the S15 here in the states but the sales figures just wouldnt be right. Well take back. Nissan should've brought the S15 Silvia Spec R in 2003 to counter the Lancer Evolution VIII and the Subaru WRX STi. I imagine Nissan have not forgotten us enthusiasts. In time there will be resolve. ::crosses fingers:: I HOPE! :D

i don't understand why people are being negative with the popularity of the 240. I'm 24 now and i've seen a ton of trends come and go and i don't see the 240 being a trend that will go away due to the popularity of drifting and birth of organized events such as D1 and formula D. I think its great. Not only are parts becoming more readily available but when i finally decide to sell my 240 i'll probably be able to get a good amount for it.

Events my AZZ, in NY there is nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry im just pised off! About that, the freagging West coast gets to have all the nice events, while the east coastm gets a practice drift runs on an english town parking lot (thanks to DG Trials) at least for that, But other then that I dont see any D1 Drift Events in the east coast untill 2006.

i agree with u comletely about the lack o f competitive events for non-profesionals on the east coast. But what i am saying is that at least there are (as few as they may be) these events now where as a 2 years ago people were still finding a hide-away parking lot to practice in. Regardless of where the events are, at least there are events.
