In that issue he actually ran a 13.0-something with the car and corrected it down to high 12s. Their car's nice, but you could get more power out of the motor without spending the kind of money they did, if you thought it out. Remember that they're a magazine with much better funding for parts than most of us, so they'll spend $300 or more on a Landspeed cat rather than go to the exhaust shop and get one for as cheap as possible like the rest of us mortals :D

Sure after a while of driving a car you can drive and even drag it w/o looking at the tach but right after a swap? especially with an SR20 valvetrain, i for one would just be more cautious. Maybe i've just heard too many over-revved SR20 death stories.

heh, you guys have gone really far with this thread.

The whole reason why I responded in the first place was that the RB guys were doing their general "SR's suck" thing... Big deal. But the way it was written and then some of the responses were in need of a response. You talked like you knew everything, then swapped one SR, then said basically that SR's suck. For those of us who have driven countless SR's, CA's, RB's, and even KA's... I can tell you they don't.

There's obviously nothing wrong with putting an RB into a 240sx, I think its great. I personally wouldn't do the work unless it was for an RB26DETT or RB25DET. I've had a lot of bad experiences with RB20's, and though I've never driven on in a 240sx, I've driven them in Skylines and raced many of them... and they're not impressive. (The Mad Scientist is excluded, he's got some sort of car mojo that makes them fast as soon as he touches the thing. I'll never understand that. His GTS-T kept up with my stock SR without a problem.)

The gatorade bottle for a catch can (Powerade?? don't you know your sports drinks apart?? Heh heh) Well, you want to make sure its vented somewhere. I left the cap off and taped the hose into the mouth of the bottle with room for air to vent past it. The purpose of this is to prevent recycling oil that blows by into the intake. You plug the hole in the intake and vent the valve cover to a can. There are many aftermarket cans available... I used to have one before the Gatorade bottle, but I mounted my electromotive ignition in its place... so I had to get a new one. While waiting for one to fall in my lap, I put the gatorade bottle in to keep from spewing oil onto the ground from an open hose.

Sorry we're getting off-topic, but I want to respond to questions asked.

Yes, I installed the standalone myself. I had a few friends helping me out who have electromotive experience on rotaries. I had another rotary buddy who taught me how to tune and got my car running initially. Ever since the first day out on the street, its been 100% tuned by me.

I'm a firm believer that half of drag racing is building a fast car. There's a lot more research, discussion, testing, fabricating, etc... that goes into it than there is actual driving time. I spend as much time as possible making it faster and as little time as possible driving it. (hopefully 10 seconds very soon :ylsuper )

Oh, and to the administator, I thought your statement about the site was very respectable. I see where you're coming from, and sorry I am one of the people who bash it.

It's not the one with the "mickey-mouse ears" endtanks, but normal-looking endtanks with the inlet and outlet slanted backwards at about a 30-degree angle. I'll have to check with my friend, he used to work at a Volvo repair shop and could probably give me the part # from memory :D

I've seen the Mickey Mouse endtank Saab ICs before. I might consider a Volvo IC if an NPR or Hino IC becomes hard to source or hard to fit. The plastic tanks are supposed to be good up to 20psi or something.
