Picked up a little tool and some carbide bits. Looks like the head and intake system will be shedding some extra weight.

Got my roller cam today. Old cam, New (used roller cam), and then roller rockers.

Lower intake before porting.

Fuel rail off.

Stock.

Starting to dig in.

What the hell is he doing to that oil pan?

And what does the transmission have to do with it?

Oh. Makes sense now.

transmission on its way in.

Neutral.

First gear might be a bit tight as is.

More porting.

The remains.

As is, I need to hammer back on the top of the transmission tunnel to get that extra 1/2" of clearance so the shifter is in a decent position. Overall, progress is good and I expect the mounts to take shape next week.

I know it seems a bit odd to you, and it very well should. The 2.3 Intake has an empty upper intake feeding into that flat surface 4-port system.A professionally ported intake has the exact same design as what I was going for. However, I still need to do some more work on it to really open it up.A la,

more progress made in this thread than any other project on nico.

how do you plan to smooth out your port job? I really think you're gonnaend up having to take it somewhere to get it evened out and flow tested.

not that I doubt your ability to do it, but it would be better if you did.

Moving the wiring harness to avoid getting worn through by tire rub.

Right side fender on.

How the hell am I supposed to open the door? They screwed up making this fender. I ordered up a new one and will trade this one in as defective.

Left side fits fine.

All done for today.

I think I might paint the car right after the suspension is together. I have to wait for money to do the engine work, so I might as well get the Tremclad job done during the wait time.

Got some bushings installed. Hoping to have it rolling soon so I can move it to a clean spot to paint it.

I tried to get some "silver" rust paint. Apparently I grabbed "Aluminium"

New fender came in today. Fits better than the other, but still needs some adjustment.

Oh man i feel your pain...my dad and I restored a 1979 CJ 5 jeep and when we bought it for 150$ we trailered it home it had a tree growing through the middle of it, it we managed to fix all the rust...get her painted and all new interior peices, we got her running but due to the long period of sitting it most of the seals and gaskets replaced, it leaks like a siv atm, so i know ur pain man, i really like how the project has came along, dont let the nay-sayers get you down man.

For the tension rod bushings? A lot of lube, a big flat piece of steel, and rubber hammer.

For the RUCA? I used a long bolt and made a sort of press out of it. I had to use a flat head screw driver to "persuade" the bushing to slide into the RUCA.

In an attempt to get the wheels on the car and getting it rolling around, today is pure suspension work.

Rear multi-link getting some bushings.

My sweet *** bushing press system.

Three more in the hub.

The mutli-link ready to go back in (Toe arms had to be replaced - one was bent) and tension rods for the front.

Your ingenuity astounds me, particularly with the pressing.

That must've been a huge PiTA.

You should have your own show, like "Monster Garage" or somesuch, only it'd be way better.

Got the lower control arm and the sprindle apart for the rear. Nissan claims that the rear balljoints are unreplaceable, however, there is information that says B13 Sentra front balljoints will work.

I'm going to test this out. The ball joints are clearly replaceable as they are held in with snap rings. Hopefully I can put some pictures up that will solve this once and for all.

Burned out the old bushings.

Old rear balljoint vs. 1993 Nissan Sentra (B13) front balljoint

Apparently the control arm sleeve is supposed to come out like this.

In the real world, they came out like this.

Getting ready to drain the diff. I fear the worst due to the previous ownership.

Jesus! It's still clean-ish!

A little mettalic material on the drain plug.

Clean is a subjective word.

Quick spray from some Simple Green grease killer.

Subframe time.

Pressing in new balljoint.

Ready to roll.

All the links in place.

Rear spindle in place.

Mounted coilover.

All done for today.

Get some sideskirts and fender flares so you don't have to worry about the bondo/patch job being perfect.

Nice progress!

So I take it the B13 ball joint fit? Anything we should know about how you put it together as far as getting the thingy down over it? It looks shorter between the ball portion and the threads than the s13 piece. Hopefully that made sense.

Well, the major problem is that the S13 balljoint is 38mm in diamater. The B13 balljoint is 39mm. Although this seems like a small difference, it will be a pain in the *** to get it to just press in like normal.

I had to break out the torches and heat (to make it exapand) the lower control arm while I pressed in the joint. I tried with no heat and it wouldn't budge. Add some oxy-acetylene and things get moving.

I also measured height between the two balljoints. The B13 joint is about 5mm shorter at the top. However, there are lots of threads to get the nut ontop of and room to put the cotter pin through.

That is outstanding. Looks like you found the answer to what they have said is not possible. Wonder if something similar will work for the S14.
