Hmmm... I dunno. I've put a good solid 30k miles on the CTS, and did a trip from N. Scottsdale to Sedona and back in an STS rental with my parents when they came to visit.

When you have the 18 inch wheel pack, you automatically have to have the sport suspension. Makes it feel amazingly crisp and like a car in the 2,xxx lb range.

The STS feels like you're floating on a cloud. Seriously lol. STS is for grandma. CTS/CTS-V is for dude who likes a sporty sedan. :chuckle:

No seat time in Infiniti models... I'm sure they are amazing. :)

I absolutely love the 'synergy green' color. I really want to see it on an S30. Maybe that's just me.

And for the even dumber comment, what happens to those funds that are earmarked if they aren't used? Are they just folded back into the budget and therefor reduce the deficit slightly? Like I said, this is my retarded comment for the day. I hope it's the only one...

Edit: I should clarify that I understand how budgets generally work, but is there something that I may be unaware of in this bailout? Like, could those funds be used somewhere else?

side note:

one of my good friends is a high speed racing instructor at Mid Ohio raceway. His mentor is a guy named Jack Baruth...

this was his car.

only one in the world.

dad picked up the latest MB E-Class this summer. Ive never driven a car that drives so much like a tank at speeds. Im fairly certain you could drive through brick walls and wouldnt notice. That being said, its no sports car.

I actually like the styling of the rear... Cars are like women, though. We all have different tastes in looks.

One amazing thing about high performance v8-sedans is that you can be cruising and one moment, then jam the throttle and get a kick in the pants like none other. I fk'in LOVE v8 cars.

CTS-V is just...

Nothing like a Merc tank. :chuckle: Too bad they hemorrhage value and have insanely terrible reliability.

For your 50k, wait to buy the 3-years old model and save yourself insane losses. The economy has shifted significantly and you don't want to be losing s*** of money... even if you have great cashflow.

eh, the E isnt nearly as bad as say the S. That being said, there really isnt a car in that segment that the same statement couldnt be made about.

Yep, financing a brand new car is always done at a premium. :yesnod

Think about this. 2005 CL-55 sticker price was a little over $120k. In 2008, easily found used for $55k. :ohno:

I've even had my eye on the XLR... might be a nice depreciated choice a couple years down the line.

If my pattern holds true (bought a $54,800 car on its 9th birthday for $16,800 with 45K miles), I should be able to snag an XLR for around $25K in a few years.

I've been looking at $30,000 Ferraris on AutoTrader, lately.

If I do well enough in school, I might start looking at putting an extra $10,000 down on one.

Like my grandfather said,"Italian cars are built for speed, German cars are built to last."

Here is a little comparo Edmunds did a few years ago with a Ferrari and a minivan.

it being a toyota, it will come in beige, and have unexpected quality issues. i guess with the ferrari you know that its gonna have problems from the get go, so there isnt a false sense of security.

i spent all morning today researching car options. ive got mid 20s to play with i think. current top options are:
2011 Sonata SE Turbo
2011 Nissan Juke SL AWD
VW GTI

Im not sure yet if i want to go the used route:
G35x 2007-2008
2009-2010 Acura TSX/RDX
Current Gen Maxima

I have to make a decision by feb. Anything I should look into other than whats mentioned? Needs: FWD/AWD, Decent Gas Milage, Not built like crap, not too flashy because ill be working in baltimore.

Consumer Reports says you should maybe consider the Mercury Milan:
Image

The 4-cylinder version starts at $22,000, V6 at almost $27,000 and the Hybrid at just over $28,000.

If you want a stick shift, you'll be stuck with the I4 base. If you want a shiftable automatic, you'll be stuck with the V6 base.

But I wants it. The only reason I'd buy a new car is if there aren't any available used. Like the Toyobaru Coupe.

Ah, the inability to forego immediate gratification... Should serve you well in marriage. ;)

I thought "you people" were supposed to be frugal? :poke:

You'll be like my brother who paid $22K for a new Chevy HHR, or one of my ex's who paid $18K for the first PT Cruiser in the state. :)

Then again, you'll be "ballin' outta control" when you're a big shot fat cat attorney. ;)

What do you mean "you people?" ;)

I had respect for the design of both the HHR and the PT Cruiser (the same guy also did the new Malibu, which I also like from an aesthetic standard). They've got a nifty almost-retro thing going on. That said, I wouldn't buy either.

But I want this car, and have ever since word of it first came out. A test drive could change my mind once its production form is released, but 'til then, I'm gonna want it.

I'll also keep my ears open for substantiation of the rumor that Nissan'll be ressurecting the 240 line to compete with the Toyobaru and the I4 Genesis Coupe. That might lead me to stick with the burger.
