HAHA Smith sup again. I can't believe somebody actually dredged up this old timer thread. Well here's some more clarification. Senko I'm glad you have "claimed" to do some investigation/work with Omega. However I totally disbelieve everything you have said. Let's start with some quotes shall we?
Omega skylines does not import cars to the US, they import them to canada and then ship them through to the US from there thus they save you money on the shipping cost and port fees, and you dont have to worry about your car being "crushed" the way this works is becuase shippibng to canada is cheaper then shipping to the US, by a lot.
This is sorta funny because if Omega was going through a true UNITED STATES REGISTERED IMPORTER, why in the hell would they have to ship it to Canada first? The RI can legally import any car into the US. Also wouldn't it logically cost TWICE as much to ship a car from Japan into Canada, then from Canada into the US? Oh, and do you also realize you are then technically importing the car twice?
and yes it is a registered RI, and if your wondering the difference in cost, its becuase Motorex's RI had to spend the money for those first few times to figure out what works. but now the information is there. and other RIs, can reap the benfits.
First off, Motorex doesn't "have" an RI....Motorex IS an RI! You obviously don't know what an RI really is and you probably have never read Motorex's FAQ on their website which fully explains the history of Motorex and the legal processes which they had to go through. Other RI's aren't just suddenly going to reap the benefits. Just because a company is an RI does not mean they can magically get any car you want right away and legalize it for you in one month. Have you ever called a REAL RI and asked them their policies?
Omegaimports and their RI, found a loophole in the shipping agreement with canada (which is why they can give you a 6 month cert) that has to do with a canadian transplant to the us which states "you have 6 months to register your car legally in the US and have all the necessary mods made" and the way they work this is they actually register the cars to their address in canada when they arrive there. this is also the reason your car wont be crushed, becuase it is registered to canada, all you have to do if you cant get it legalized is drive it back to canada, drop it off with the omega skylines address there, and you avoid having it crushed.
I don't really want to quote your idiocy anymore but here's the lowdown. Omega can not legally import any Skyline into Canada unless it is 15 years or older. So there is no way they are getting a 1996 GTS-T into Canada LEGALLY. If for some reason they do get it into Canada, next they claim to ship it into the US. Did you know Canada is another country? So by shipping the car from Canada into the US you are importing it again, illegally. Now let's say miraculousy the car gets to your house in the US. Now you have to legalize it. The only place that can legalize a Skyline is Motorex. They are going to realize the car was illegally imported and either report you or charge you around $25,000 more (on top of what you originally paid to Omega) and hold the car for 2 months while they legalize it for you. So in the long run it would have been cheaper, faster, and 100% legal to have just bought a better, nicer Skyline from Motorex in the first place.
Quote »Next, if the "crash test data" is "open to the public" can you please supply me with a link in your next post. This would make for some interesting reading. Last I heard, MotoRex has gone to great lengths to secure the methods/practices and hard data they acquired after running crash tests... Also known as an industry secret. That's how companies maintain exclusivity and make a profit.[/quote]
Senko, I am re-quoting SmithSR because I totally agree with everything he has asked and said. If this "sharing" of crash-test data is true please prove it. Motorex has spent the money to be fully LEGAL and they intend to stay that way. They paid the money to crash test and EPA test the motors why should they just share it for free? Yes in the "ideal" world such would be true, but business is business and Motorex is a good one at that! This is also another reason why I totally distrust Omega is because they are blatantly lying on their website and they are preying on the misinformed consumers to make money.
SO, long post short...Senko it's your money, but hopefully will you learn it won't be well spent through Omega.
