thank you lol. its nice because i bought this with my own $$ and will pay insurance for it, while "my" other car is actually my moms, so when this needs working on, i can drive my "other" car instead lol

yup another tiny and pointless update, but i gotta keep the few viewers i have of this thread entertained! lol

car is coming home Saturday for sure, im going to air up the tires, bleed the brakes and get it out of the backyard where i have it so when it rains this weekend i dont tear up the ground and shiz.

im GUESSING that i'll have some pics of something removed by next Tuesday.

You and me both on that last set of stuff to do. My brakes are shot, and I have these monstrous AP racing brakes (BBK for a z32 TT) in my garage, but to use them I need lines, 20mm spacers, and longer wheel studs. Its a financial trap, so I have been avoiding it. Can't hold out much longer though.

The Car is back HOME! after 5 grueling months of lonleyness, she was astounded to see me, and boost happily ONCE lol (low coolant)..

The exhaust manifold is what started going on today. it took my friend an I around 4 hours to get the manifold off, turbo on new manifold, and a quick test fit. alot of time was taken up by dumb mistakes (trying to loosen a bolt my turning it right )

the install will commence tomorrow, with the bending of the stock lines. I think we figured that we should install the manifold bare, then put the lines on the turbo and then attach the turbo to the manifold while making some bending adjustments to the lines that i HOPE will reach. ^^a little input would be nice on this, just so i dont kink any lines or anything..

Pics TOMORROW of the new setup. The radiator or FPR are next!

Attach the manifold, turbo, O2 pipe, Oil feed line, and the inside coolant line as an assembly. Also attach the outside coolant line to the block before you drop all of that in.

I hope that makes sense.

Ok, sorry no pics yet, i've been working on it the past 2 days and ran into a few little problems.

1). the catback doesn't line up with the downpipe (i think the downpipe is wrong). i'll just take this to get the pipe extended, bent, and welded at a local muffler shop.

2). i got the coolant feed/return and the oil feed hooked up. the oil drain i had to fabricate by cutting the old and using 5/8" heater hose to connect it.

3). radiator fan is TO BIG to fit on the side of the radiator i wanted (i have to put it on the engine bay side.. )

4). i had a HELL of a time getting the front driver side caliper back on..took 3 hours!

now the good stuff

1) the exhaust WILL fit after i take it to a muffler shop and EVERYTHING looks super clean and badass

2) radiator fits great once i move the fan

3) gauges and turbo timer installed with ease and looks terrific

4) replaced all the brakes, and FIXED my leaking cylinder the pads were s*** in the rear from me using the ebrake as a brake when towing it home back in the day and the piston just needed to be pushed back in. but ($76 for all around pads/rotors)

im not promising pics by today, but i am promising the DAY i get everything done, ALL pics will be up, and a small video of it running. Thanks for all the help from everyone in the past.. to CA18DET

well everyone, the turbo install is COMPLETE, the oil line was a PITA to fab up, but i got it done with the 5/8" heater hose. i fixed the radiator fan on the engine bay side and it looks amazing.

im done with all that shiz, so now im starting on the FPR. IIRC, all i need to remove is the idle control on the manifold, the two brackets, and the bolts holding the rail down correct?

i do have an important question though. On the turbo coolant lines, there are the washers for the banjo bolts. i didn't realize it till last night after it was put on, that a few of the washers were missing..should i be overly worried about leaking coolant if they are tigthened down really good? i know they are there for a reason, im just curious.

alright thanks, i'll get at that tomorrow morning..it shouldn't be too bad now, just time consuming..

i'll take a pic of the oil return tomorrow also..its kind of "ghetto", but i think it'll work ok. what did everybody else do for the oil return to get it to fit?

thanks for the info. would a local auto store carry oil resistant line? i've heard of people using heater hose for transmission lines and not having them leak, just swell and sweat?

well usually over time the oil deteriate the rubber and itll swell or rip..

jegs should have some. maybe napa.. u might be able to find power steering return hose in the size u need, transmission line wont be that big.

just hate to have ur return line bust and loose oil and blow up.. itll work for a lil while but just wanted u to be aware of it.

i COMPLETELY understand lol i dont want anything happening to my baby. i was thinking power steering hose also. i'll probably go to my local Autozone and pick some up. thanks again.

im going to take the time today to go over all my connections on the turbo, get some washers and connect the water lines, and then i will start on the fuel rail.

well i went out this morning at 9am and took the turbo off again (which is MUCh easier now than it was the 1st time ). i found that some of the coolant lines WERE NOT tightened down tight, so its a good thing i went back and did this. the washers are all good now, as is the oil drain. i used the breather hose off a KA24E. its durable, and since "blow-by" passes through it, i think it'll be able to hold up over time..also it fits PERFECT!

i have to purchase a caliper mounting bracket though. one of the front ones is messed up. the top caliper mounting hole sticks out really far, and i can't get the caliper on without it locking up the wheel. so i'll probably go use a hammer for a bit on it, then if it doesn't work, i'll buy a new used one from someone on here.

i MIGHT have to rebuild my rear caliper. i bought the kit, but im wondering if fluid is just leaking from the brake line banjo..so i'll have my momba press the pedal as i look. she's such a ricer

last thing is the FPR. i started it yesterday by removing the idle air control and loosening a couple bolts on the fuel rail. im not going to be doing the butterfly removal or KADE TB yet, as my $$ has run out and there would be a few things i'd need and i'd rather spend the little money i do have on insurance and gas

more pics will come soon. Thanks everybody!

well, as promised here are some final pics of some stuff. im not rebuilding my caliper right now, im going to see if it leaks as im not really sure if it is anymore or not. im not doing the tie rod boots because my tool i bought to do it pretty much bends when im trying to seperate the tie rod end from the knuckle...cheap chinese bastards (it was only $2 tho lol)

i did put the new shifter cover on so heres a pic of that..

i think i said before i did the FPR, so heres a pic of that. it was MUCH quicker when installing it. also got my Fuel pressure gauge on.

other than that, im waiting on my caliper bracket and just have to put on the oil filter adapter and connect the two wires for the oil temp. and press. gauges and im done.. should i use teflon tape on the threads for the sensors? i was told NOT to use teflon on oil fittings as it could dissolve and get into the system and cause problems?

here are some final engine bay pics..i think it looks pretty..this car is going to cause a whole bunch of talk around my city

trick to tie rods, beat the knuckle with a hammer give it a few solid hits and the tie rod will pop right out :P..

thats how i do em no seperator.

just hit the knuckle where the tie rod goes with a hammer 3-5 times hard and then lift the tie rod right out of the knuckle.

well im done..for now loli did everything but rebuild the rear caliper (which i think i need to do), and replace the tie rod boots. the oil filter was a PITA to get off (i have pics) but the Oil Filter sandwich is a good fit. all the gauges work good, fuel pressure is a little high (40psi), and the radiator leaks a little coolant (from drain plug, just going using stock radiator drain plug)

im VERY happy with the way everything turned out. when i first started it, it was blowing white smoke EVERYWHERE, but it was from the cold rainy weather. also, the oil pressure dipped a little from around 70psi on initial startup, to around 30psi after warmup..is this normal or should i be checking something? just want to be sure.

vac is still around 17 or 18..and oil temp got to around 125*F in a decent time. a/f ratio is much better (according to autometer phantom narrow band). but there was one thing i couldn't put my finger on..

there was a "rainbow" underneath my car after i moved it, like it was gas, but it doesn't smell like gas? all the lines are secured and the FPR and injectors are not leaking. it looked to be around where the fuel filter would be. what else causes rainbows on wet pavement other than gas?

other than that, its PERFECT. it boost good, but i went nowhere fast due to wet pavement..i just have to do the radiator thing, and get all the air out of the cooling system as it started to overheat just sitting there..so im guessing its an air pocket. no leaks from any of the turbo lines as of yet either, but i will keep a close eye on everything this next month before i take it to the track. pics and a vid coming in a little bit..i have to go eat..im very hungry
