Tokyo drift was shot mainly in LA. they just added a bunch of lights and such to make you think it was downtown tokyo. it was alot easier to shut down LA then it would be to shut down TokyoTroubleBound wrote:
Oh damn. Guess i should actually know what im talking about/research before i spew some more nonsense. Thats pretty sweet though, it just looked fake maybe it was just the camera/lighting/angle, and he was like 2 in from front and back bumper at same time all the way up that was pretty good. But then i just think that Rhys should have been in the movie, heh they could have made him look a little younger or something. He was a good pick for the part since he was stuntman prior to driftman. Thanks for pointing that out though really didn't think someone did that, is it on the special features or something? Who got to drift the cars through tokyo was that more american drifters like Rhys or did they use him and some japs that were there? That would be sweet to do in a city like tokyo.
Oh okay they had me fooled. Not like ive ever been to tokyo heh i imagined it looked something like that, still be cool drifting in LA. So were the japanese people in the movie really from japan or were they japanese americans? That somehow made me like tokyo drift even less, i mean, they couldn't even fly to tokyo? Probably restrictions on what hollywood is allowed to do for movies in other countries though, should have called it the fast and furious los angeles drift.zerodameaon wrote:

They said the guy had a "98 240 with an illegal mod..." The illegal mod was most likely a vin plate swap (s15 registered as an s14). That is what I assumed they meant anyway...ERIC s.-14 wrote:They called the s15 a 240sx, lol
QFT, you beat me too it- good call.simmode1 wrote:Like someone else in the thread said, I'm gonna choose to believe they were implying that the VIN's were switched to show up on DMV records as a '98 240sx rather than an actually illegal s15. You can tell they've been doing their homework. This movie and Toyko Drift have been far more technically accurate than the first 2 movies...
No. You are wrong, did you even see the movie? He clearly pulled up to a house which had a silver s15 parked outside, unless they did a full front, side, and rear end conversion on an s13 than you are wrong.240dx wrote:The silver silvia was an s13.5 in the movie
Save us the hassle of replying to your posts and go watch the 'Behind the Scene' stuff...TroubleBound wrote:Oh okay they had me fooled. Lol... you too.93240cooool wrote:
no lol, it was a blacktop sr....
it came out of a s15 silvia...
Rhys was in the movie. Not only did he do alot of the stunt driving, but he makes a cameo on the airplane the kid takes to get to Japan. If you know what Rhys looks like, he's really easy to spot as the only other white guy on the flight... lolTroubleBound wrote:

fast and furious = EPIC FAIL = NO
tokyo drift = better than the rest, slightly better cars, better plot, better characters, overall much better film, but still FAIL.

for those of you who are defending this film or even this entire franchise... i feel ashamed. especially to those of you who shelled out ten or so bucks to watch this crap.
