"A conservative group that had called on supporters to boycott Wal-Mart’s post-Thanksgiving day sales to protest the retailer’s support of gay-rights groups withdrew its objections Tuesday, saying the company had agreed to stay away from controversial causes.
The American Family Association, which had been asking supporters to stay away from Wal-Mart on Friday and Saturday — two of the busiest shopping days of the year — said it was pleased by a statement the company issued Tuesday." - quoted from msnbc link
Target has always given 5% to the community. I'm sure that some of these causes are things that their customers might disagree with. This time they gave to a cause that benefits the business-related community... it really is no big deal. The liberals are trying to blow this out of proportion. Let's hope it backfires!Looneybomber wrote:Wow. Why would a retailer get involved with politicians/politics? You're gonna make more people unhappy then those you make happy.

It isn't. Some people are just so miserable in their pathetic little lives that they feel like they have to drag everyone else down to their level.Dattebayo wrote:Why the hell is it anyone's business what a company did with it's money when they gave it out legally?

Target and Ross, two stores that I have a high dependence on.nissangirl74 wrote: +1 for Target having great clothes at great prices. That's where I got almost all of Priss and Saraya's school clothes this year.
Minnesota, Target's home state, does need help in the business dept. Their unemployment is high.wingFeather wrote:Target has always given 5% to the community. Yeah, keep it up. Their stock dropped 1 point Friday to 50.81. I want to see it back into the 60's like it was pre-recession.wingFeather wrote:I was at Target today, to support them by buying things. The place was PACKED like Black Friday

We got your number IB. If the boycott was coming from conservatives/Christians/Republicans I know you'd increase your Target spending.IBCoupe wrote:Eh. Political boycotts/shopping sprees are equally dumb. I'll shop at Target if the opportunity and need arise.
Nope. The nearest Target is across the river. There's a Wal-Mart just a few blocks away.wingFeather wrote:We got your number IB. If the boycott was coming from conservatives/Christians/Republicans I know you'd increase your Target spending.
They might not want to pay benefits for gay couples. That's a potentially *large* additional expense for a national retailer like Target.Looneybomber wrote:Wow. Why would a retailer get involved with politicians/politics? You're gonna make more people unhappy then those you make happy.
