Part of the problem is probably your tires. Even if they are All season tires doesn't mean they'll get the job done. Rogue's AWD system is good, but not great. Someone compared it to the Skyline's AWD system, but its totally different.

Check out this link and it'll will explain AWD systems to why Subaru's are superior in that field versus competitors. Hope this helps

There ya go.. a useful answer from someone who actually has EXPERIENCE in your situation. Use the setup philipa has and I'm sure you'll be fine. Even though winter's pretty much over with, remember it for next year.

Hi ADK... I checked out your video (loved hearing your wife's laughs at the end). Simply put, you need winter tires. I have an 09' Rogue SL AWD with Michelin X-Ice Xi2 tires. I live in northwestern New Brunswick, Canada where we get a lot of snow and freezing rain conditions. I love how my Rogue handles in snow - it's sure-footed, nimble, gets lots of traction and inspires confidence. Although I have to be careful in slushy conditions, 99% of the time winter is not a problem (and we get a ton of snow, 2' in a recent storm alone, for example).

All season tires should not be used in winter driving conditions. A good set of winter tires are as important to good traction and safe driving as an AWD system. When I saw your driveway, I'd bet you would not have had problems with winter tires. My dad has a steeper driveway which I climb easily on snow or ice.

Here's a video I made a few weeks ago during a morning drive in snow: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJv1rX2x7f4
