In August 2007 i bought a gray 1992 Nissan 240SX Fastback SE. It is a 5 speed, had 208,000 miles on it when i got it for $3000. I'm sure that it sounds pretty steep for a stock 240sx but it is very well maintained, and in very good shape. There is no rust on the frame rails or anywhere on the car except for underneath the foam spoiler on the hatch. This is what she looked like when i got her:I didn't have much money so i didn't do much at all..eventually replaced the rusty hatch with a new one: And lowered her a little (just a little because i used free kyb/sportlines):In April 2009 she was hit:So a friend said i could use his old dirty garage for $50 a month:I was sad, but it made me go out and get another daily, so that i could park and build her. I started a small collection of parts:

I know it doesn't look like a build thread yet, but this is just the start. The hard part will be turning the pile of parts on my floor into a running car. All of the parts i've collected are in preparation for my plans of doing the super cliche SR20 swap. I FINALLY came across the money i needed for the motor/trans/ecu/harness and it is being delivered to me today! I have to wait at the garage between one and five and ups will be dropping it off. I ordered from JSA Motors, i had heard good things i hope it arrives in good condition. ill post up some pics when they get here. I'm sure that throughout this long process i will have numerous questions and problems to ask for your assistance with. Especially considering the fact that this is my first build/engine swap. After the motor is in i will put a couple suspension arms and bushings on.

Heh i guess i just call everyone friend, but it is actually my little brothers friends dads place lol hes a truck driver and hes hardly ever home so he doesn't use it, and just wants an extra $50 a month to buy alcohol with..? I don't know anyone else with one and working on my car in the driveway blows. $50 a month is a good deal though but its not like he was using it so i see what you mean...hopefully i won't have it there too much longer anyways.

I cheaped out on the exhaust. The manifold, elbow, and catback are all ISIS parts from enjuku, the downpipe is megan.

The SR came in today. I paid $35 extra for residential shipping and $35 for liftgate service and the guy gets there and tells me he can't back into my driveway (this was a shorty truck like 16 wheels) and he has to drop it off in the street anyways. Im like...? WTF? If i had known that i would have saved myself $70 and just had it delivered to the dealership i used to work at. Anyways i borrowed a pallet jack from work and rolled it an eighth mile up the gravel driveway. Also forgot my camera so i only have a cell phone picture of it until i go back tomorrow. The spark plug cover dealio has no screws but no biggie. Never seen an engine swap before so i guess everything looks normal? lol I did notice that one of the belts that was on it was the wrong size, so i can only expect that the rest of the engine was treated with as much care. Oh well bish better run.It was raining and nasty so i came home. I wish i had time off work to put it in, and money for the random s*** i'll need, but im sure that could be said of everyone here. Got home and the coilovers were here to! Too bad the car doesn't move or else i would be more excited about them lol.Ill be back tomorrow with camera pictures and probably some questions.

Yeah i keep hearing that Ill have to resell it to another sucker and get an avcr sometime, but a lot of people are recommending manual bc's too, and those are a lot cheaper. Still deciding what i'll do. I just assumed Greddy was selling quality stuff but i've seen a bunch of boost spike stories now and only like 1 out of 20 people will recommend b spec 2. I should have done some more searching on that one lol.

other than the little things you need to get your sr running, you have everything you need...

i always liked it when people gathered parts to build up instead of little by little

nice build-to-be thread

should be a nice finished car in the end

that blue fan you bought...why don't you just use the stock fan/e-fans? I've heard some fans that look like that and they sound like helicopters lol

That's good to hear, i was wondering how loud it would be, as it is also a perma cool fan. Inexpensive, high cfm's, adjustable t-stat, cool looking...i was sold. The stock fan i took off my hatch was never loud when it ran but my daily pig coupe sounds like a f***ing freight train. (I dont know what a freight train sounds like, but truck drivers look over at me my fan is so loud.) Its sohc though i dont know if that makes a difference.

Small Update, need more time off work:The garage im working in is all leaky, and moist/mildewy so it's almost as bad as keeping my car outside anyways, and there are LOTS of spiders and critters to keep me company. This is the puddle i mop up every day when i get there: Oh well, unwrapped the SR:Took trans off so i could get at flywheel:Flywheel - BeforeFlywheel - After resurfacingDecided to take the KA out for steering problems diag. and engine bay prep. Look at the metal shavings on this KA trans. drain plug, gross. Good thing it's being relieved of its duties:Preparations:Success! Pulled my first engine! And i didn't even f*** anything up! Lol the challenge will be putting one in, i know. Sad Looking 240,000 KA24DE:Going to clean up/paint this nastyness:Snapped this on my way out, its how she sits tonight:

Thanks for stopping by my thread, i need to fix whatever is keeping the car from steering (intermediate shaft or rack or something) and paint the bay, and then drop the SR in with all my new parts on it. Pretty broke till after Christmas so i hope nothing expensive comes up. I'll have to wait for tires and paint till then too. )=

looking good so far. good luck with getting the sr up and running.

as for the fan, yeah you won't hear it at all. when i first installed mine we just wired it straight to the ignition since we didnt have a temp sensor and relay for it. and even with it being on all the time i never gave it a thought or heard it. i traded a pig lip to get mine and its pretty nice. and if you're fan is louder then your engine you're doing it wrong

i use the duel flexalite electric fans. i used to have them hooked up with a temp sensor but i ended up just hooking it up to ignition power to stay on all the time. fans are pretty loud though but they are some strong fans and i live in southern california so it is usually pretty warm here, plus i just installed a koyo N flow radiator so that should als help with the cooling.

i here there is a certain ford taurus electric fan that is supposed to be realy strong that can be had at a junk yard for cheap.everything looks good though, keep it up.

Got the engine bay pretty much cleared out today, but ran out of time and called it a night, so i haven't cleaned it up at all. Needs some degreaser then some paint. I think it will be black, but i haven't decided if i'm repainting the car gray in which case i might want to respray it gray.Oh and when people delete their AC, where did you guys get some bolts to block off the ac holes through the firewall? What size?

Pretty cool build so far. You selling or sold the KA? or parting out? I could use the exhaust cam if your parting. Oh, and props for finding a cool girl, all mine does when I work on my car is b****.
