Good stuff.

If you need a SMIC setup. I've got one. Everything except for the hot pipe.

Hit me up.

Goodluck!

Thanks, Yeah I'd rebuild it if i owned a garage but i'm not going to pay to leave it here for the few years it would take me to save. I've actually never sold anything online though so parting it out might be annoying. I imagine shipping a cam to CA would be expensive too, but if you want to pay shipping+part i'm sure something could be arranged, my email is [email protected].

Thanks, I got a crappy CXRacing(ebay) fmic in my parts pile somewhere, it was one of the few parts that's packaged up so damn tight i was too lazy to take it out of the box until it's getting installed. I appreciate the offer though. I like your garage/suspension/build, I'm glad someone in VA hasn't molested their S13.

I haven't got much done cause i only spend 5-10 hours a week at the garage cause work sucks, but i have a vacation oct. 14th so hopefully i'll get a lot done in the 6 days i'm off. Oh and i take too many pictures. She's so anxious with her new engine sitting right in front of her. KA Parts littering the floor:And the progress pic

So that black circular metalness attached to the brake master cylinder, there is a little bit of surface rust on the underside of it. Did you guys (is it okay to) sand it down and paint it? Oh and do people usually paint the steering rack cause mine doesn't look flashy, i know the top side of it will be hidden by the engine but i want it to look nice around.

the round metal thing is the brake booster and sanding and painting it is fine.

if you want to spray the rack go for it, i sprayed mine while i spraying the bay just cuz i was hitting up the x member too. i wouldn't waste my time removing it to be thorough with it

If it's got rust on it, it's probably got brake fluid leaking on it. May want to get that checked/fixed.

Oh that makes sense cause the rust does look like its in the shape of a fluid leak. Thanks for the advice i don't want my new paint to rust cause i didn't fix the problem just covered it up.

What kind of sandpaper did you use? I'm in the process of sanding my bay but I don't know squat about body work.

I used 3M strips i got from Napa, i haven't finished but i started off with 180 grit and then im going to do 400 that i have before i primer and paint. But i wouldn't take my word for it, i have no previous body experience whatsoever, just what i've read here on Nico heh.

Yeah im dumb i went to the garage to work on the car some more and noticed the numbers on the paper. I don't know where i came up with those other numbers, but i DID star off with 80 grit as well. I did the whole bay with 80 grit and got it down to metal where i could. Then im going back over it with 180 and then washing it and tack clothing it before i hit it with the primer. Sorry about that i don't know what i was thinking. And its best to keep the floor wet and garage door closed, but keep the area ventilated with like a fan or something while painting.

Forgot to post the pic of the East Bear knockoff lip i had sitting around forever to go with the chuki bumper. Got the turbo bolted up to the new manifold and the turbo elbow:Finally got the engine off of that pallet and onto an engine stand. And i replaced the thermostat for the nismo one. OEM-76.5°C vs. Nismo-62°CAnd umm i found this little wound up coil of thin metal inside of the thermostat housing it doesn't look like it belongs, what the hell is it/where did it come from?

Yeah didn't do a lot cause its nasty here in VA and the garage leaks ):What Redtop?Graytop seems weird but everyone has red and ive seen a few with white (Didderson) and it seems hard to keep clean and black looks like the blacktop so i decided on gray. It will match the exterior of the car anyways. Did i say gray? I meant Cast Coat Iron

Tossed in the motor and trans mounts today. Didn't realize how different the trans mounts looked. Also reattached the exhaust manifold/turbo.I don't know how healthy cams/valves are supposed to look, but i snapped a couple pics with the cover off:While i had the cover off i tossed in the new plugs. Its starting to look like an engine again. Painted the little valve cover hardware black too, it was old and crusty. I might paint the "intercooler turbo" piece cause there is some sharpie from when it was shipped that wont come off. It didn't come with any bolts to hold it in i'll have to get some )=Thats all for now, i'm waiting on an oil pressure gauge sending unit adapter and putting the new clutch/TO bearing on and then i can drop it in. Ill be doing the wiring this week in my room.

Looking good. I'm debating on getting that lip. Some lip + chuki sides + the ever so elusive 2 piece hatch valences = sex.

Engine bay looks good. I didn't read so sorry if you mentioned it, but what did you use for paint?

I kind of did a quick ghetto test fit but my bumper is all cracked up so i didn't really get a good idea of how flush it would be, but it didn't look to be too far off. I should test fit it on the new bumper i got just haven't had a chance.
Chris28 wrote:what did you use for paint?
I used duplicolor primer and duplicolor gloss black acrylic enamel. It was like $40 for the paint and sandpaper and tack cloths.
baron_harkkonen wrote:How long did it take you to sand/prep your bay?
I did it over the course of two days, like 4 hours each day probably. I didnt go too crazy with the sanding but it still came out pretty well.

I finally got around to doing more to the car. Coming along i suppose.Got an oil pressure gauge sending unit adapter from NISsport so i could retain the stock oil pressure light. Brought the wiring harnesses home cause i got no internet at the garage. That would kick a** if i did. Dash plug:Extending O2+MAF+Power steering switch:Chassis plugs:Switches/plugs removed from SR harness:Lower harness didnt need modified so i just cleaned it and retaped everything:Cleaned up the rest of the engine harness with some more tape and sleeving, no exposed wires in the bay. Wiring harness is done yay!Spent like 4 hours taking off all the tape/paper/plastic from painting the bay. Looks better now that i did. Then i took off the front bumper in preparation for the (failed) front mount install. That and the damaged quarter that will be replaced. The subframe is damaged worse than i thought it was from the accident. It was hard to tell with the fender on. Oh well, i love my car it will be unbent.(I hope)Randoms(Cuase i didnt take enough already heh sorry) Engine is is the car! Not hooked up to anything though...i was tired as hell at 2am when i got it in. just the trans and motor mounts bolted in. Shifters all lined up ready to go..can't wait to install the cusco collar on the new shortshifter.Glad i opted to replace the exhaust, this ish is lookin crusty. Might take the silencer out depending on how it sounds.... So now i have to hard part of getting everything to wire up and hook up, heh which is where the questions come in. Thanks for any help or advice you guys might be able to give, thanks for stopping by my thread.

Sorry if my gajillion pics killed anyones computer or interest.
