My dad took pictures of my legs, bruises on my arms, and this big bruise/scrape I got on my chest near my collarbone. Those pics are on his camera, and I don't know how to use it. My mom took one picture of my right hand for me since it's all swollen and bruised, and that's the only one I have on my camera. It's ironic that you'd ask though, because when I was posting accident pics, she came up behind me and asked "you're not posting any pictures of you, are you?". She's a little neurotic. She says I shouldn't let any guys see me going in or out of Victoria's Secret because they'll "get fixated" on me.GEO wrote:s14 girl, any pics of your wounds?
We'll definitely be hitting up her insurance company for money. I'm claiming anything I can't get out of the car and my wheels. I wish I could get reimbursed for the $2000 paint job I had done less than a year ago, but I doubt that. I will probably be using parts off my car, but I'll be starting fresh with another 240. It's hard to let mine go, I have a big emotional attachment, since it was my first car and I taught myself everything I know by working on it. But it will be cool to start again and create something new.USsil80 wrote:wow just thank who ever that you are ok... aleast now you could hit up on some insurance money... mybe sue for any money invested that you can't get from the insurance comapny... and then when you are better time to rebuild...if that is an option????????(hope so you did a hot job on that s14)
I only took it there mainly so I'd have access to tools and a lift to work on the car myself. Unfortunately it was my only option around here at the time, and I quickly saw that the people who worked there didn't know what they needed to know, at least not about what I was doing with my car. They actually wired my taillights so that when I braked, my reverse lights came on! I agree with you though, it does piss me off that something worse could have happened, and it makes me feel that much more lucky.gniknave wrote:
You might want to look into that a little more. I'd be pretty pissed at that fact if I was in your shoes. If they did it wrong, it's up to THEM to do it right, or send it somewhere to have someone do it right before letting you drive the car again.
I'm not the type to holler "SUE!" but this is a case where something more could have happened, or something more could have been prevented.
The turbo timer probably fell down in the wreck, but I think you're looking at my boost controller. I put my Greddy Profec B Spec II below my radio. I am glad I can save as much as I can though, you're right. I am about to go get some more things out of the car now.getnrowdy23 wrote:i agree, there could be some damages paid on that air bag issue. also inthe pics the turbo timer is below the radio, not on the review. nice car, sorry to hear about that. but you have clear corners, some eclectronics, seats, 3 rims, maf, NEON SHIFTER and some other stuff you can save. glad you are ok.
Sounds amazing that your brother and his passenger were okay! Just thinking about the steering wheel poking through the windshield...that must've been a terrible wreck! Didn't your brother have to go to the hospital for the broken collarbone? When the accident happened, I wasn't even five miles from my house, here in Greenville. Are you familiar with Greenville? If so, I can tell you exactly where the accident happened.Arrow wrote:Wow.... It's thankful that you weren't hurt any worse! My brother had a similar speed accident back in '90 or '91... I was 5 at the time... but he was on the other side from you (it was his fault) he missed a stops sign and t-boned a 1-ton truck in his T-top camero.... it wasn't even recognizable as a camero after... the window and roof were pushed back so far and smashed so badly that the steering wheel was poking through the windshield.. I think the only thing that was salvageable was the wheels... and at that I'm not too sure if the fronts were good or not... Luckily he walked away... his passanger was air-lifted to the hospital but did well (he only had a seatblet bruise and little glass cuts). My brother only had a broken collar bone and 19 stitches in his head from the mirror (or T-tops)..... It's great to know that you're doing well. Where abouts in NC were you?
I just got back from getting stuff off the car again, I was hoping to get my z32 maf, but it's crushed. My best friend's boyfriend came out to help me get my seats, but their frames are twisted so we left them. We can see a few cracks running up and down the SR from what we can see through that little opening in the hood. I just wish I was more able to get around. I can't use my right hand much because of all the bruising and the leg I'm using to walk on, the one that is sprained, isn't taking the stress well. So it's been really hard to get what I want off the car.J-Spec Tuner wrote:I bet you anything 80-95% of the SR is salvagable. There are honestly so many parts you could save it would be worth buying back the wreck and cutting it all out. (motor with all the parts on it, transmission, 5 lug, seats, etc..) Heck the engine wire harness already re-wired is probably worth $400+ alone.
If you dont some guy at a stripyard will get it all for 1/10th the price.
Thanks for the advice, I can use any advice I get right now. I have a doctor's appointment Thursday, and I'll make sure I keep up with them. I have to have them every week anyway, because my left leg has to be x-rayed weekly so they can decide if they want to do the surgery to pin one of the the bones that was broken.Yeah, I looked at the webpage with your pictures, and that blew me away! The Galant looks really bad, but considering the speed you hit the Hyundai with, it took the impact well. Those girls were lucky they didn't stay in the car, but they should have had the brains to put on the caution lights. I'm sorry about that, 3 accidents totalling the car that weren't your fault in two years is a lot for anyone to take. No, I didn't get any citations, she did. One of the policemen came to talk to us when I was lying in the ER and listened to my story, and I think she'd said something because he seemed a little suspicious, but he said she was at fault.Chaotic_Warlord wrote:just d=some friendly advice but make sure you keep up on those doctors visits, I only went to the ER in my accident as I don't have medical insurance and I wasn't really all that hurt. If you do take her to court the defense, jusdge and jury will look at your doctor visits and use them to decide just how badly you were injured, doesn't our legal system suck. Also you might be able to take her to small claims court for damages outside of what her insurance will cover, so if you can't salvage the engine or anything else on the car you can take her to court for those on your own. Just curious did you happen to check out the link i posted and read up on what happened to me and see the damages to my car and the car I hit? If my airbags hadnt have deployed I would be either dead or eating food through a straw right now, take the shop to court too, it's their fault your Air bags didnt deploy, although it looks like the bulk of your injuries are to your legs from the engine block slamming through the firewall, you could have been worse off if it had been a more serious accident. I had to learn my lesson the hard way (I don't have car insurance because I can't afford it but public trans doesn't go to my school so I have to drive).
Also did you get any citations or did she get those.
Yours looks pretty bad too! Did you come out of it alright?DriftinNC wrote:sad to hear about another 240 wrecking in NC, haha i thought mine was bad until i saw yours...
what do you think she said, something like "she ran a red light?"s14_girl wrote:No, I didn't get any citations, she did. the car was sent to the auction place? did the insurance pay it off or something? im confused here...PalmerWMD wrote:I think they would let you buy the car for salvage valkue like $600 or so.
The engine is liekly still good engines are prettty strong..
I don't know, I'm sure she couldn't have said there'd been a red light because then she'd have been running a red light too. They probably talked to people at the scene (since there were so many) and anyone would have said that the light was green, not even yellow. My ex was there when the policeman talked to us in the ER and he said maybe she knew the cop or something like that. Luckily for me, it's so cut and dry that she can't possibly twist anything around.nismofly wrote:

honestly theres really nothing she can say, other than making up some horrible story
No, it wasn't sent to an auction place, the people who towed it were holding it in their yard waiting for me to get my stuff out of it before releasing it to a wrecker from what I understand.w1ngzer0 wrote:

You mean the one I've got of my hand? Lol, I think my mom could deal with me posting that if you want to see it. I wish I'd taken the picture earlier, because it looks bruised, but the first couple days after the wreck it was blue and purple and swollen.GEO wrote:Post a pic anyways..
I know exactly where Grifton is, it's fifteen minutes away tops. I actually have a couple friends who live near there. It's right next to Ayden where a couple other friends have shops.I can't believe the trooper never took a statement from you. Seems like what you had to say would be a pretty big part of what happened! I bet that girl did get at least a DUI. Why did you get reckless driving though? Like you said, it was completely dark and she didn't have her caution lights on, how was that reckless?I cried when I saw my car too-both times actually. I went yesterday and today, and I understand completely. I always used to call my car my baby, and when you put time, work, and effort into your car and have all these dreams for it, it's hard to let that go. Thanks for the compliment! Nobody who sees me away from my car thinks I work on it, and when they find that out, they're always surprised. I love it, and I do it purely for my own enjoyment, but if another girl asked if she should get into working on cars, I'd warn her to be ready for a LOT of attention. That's what I get at car shows, it gets ridiculous, I get looks, pickup lines, marriage proposals, you name it. I know I'll always work on my car though, whatever I have (though I prefer 240s). It's a passion and an addiction-in a good way.Chaotic_Warlord wrote:Greenville...wow, my grandmother lives in Grifton NC so I know exactly where you are (your about 15 -20 minutes north of Greenville right?) As far as the way you drive goes, all I have to say is that you have the makings of a good racer (or cop) because when you go to racing school and emergency driving school they beat that into your head, always drive like your the only one out there who knows how to drive. At least the cop came to talk to you, the trooper who responded to my accident never took an official statement from me, he just went off what I told him in the (literally) minute that he got to talk to me before he ambulance took me away. In the end I don't know what the girl got (dont know if she got charged as a DUI or not) but I got a ticket for careless driving.
BTW I did see my car after it happened, I litterally cried when I saw the damage, I was more effected by the damage to my car than I was worried about if there was anything wrong with me... Oh and let me to be the first to say a girl who works on her own car is nothing less than hot
The problem with the shop is that I haven't been up there in over a year, and I'm sure it'd be easy for them to say "well we never touched your steering wheel", etc, etc. I've done my work in my garage or in my driveway, and the only shop I've taken it to is a friend's so that I could use the lift. I can't believe how bad that car looks! It was probably one of those shows about amazing events or miracles that you show it on, right? Because that's a miracle that they found it a week later and the kid was still alive! I thought people couldn't go more than a week without water or is that two weeks?bcar240 wrote:man, I gotta hand it to modern safety devices. These are some pretty horrific crashes. You seem to have a pretty good attitude about it, I think that could get you places. For that shop, if I was you I would talk to them first and say their work could have killed me, and that I am gonna sue them if they didn't settle out of court (free parts, etc...)
I saw this just a few days ago on some TV show. Some 19 year old was driving and wrecked this somehow in the middle of the night with no one around. They found the wreck 7 days later, with the kid still inside and alive.
I haven't been down that way since like 99 when Floyd flooded out the place, my mom used ot live across the street from my grandmother (with 4 cousins on the same 1/2 mile of road) and we lost our house and about 3/4 of our stuff (We had already packed up to move before FLoyd hit) and my grandmother had to have the inside of her house redone and most of her stuff went in the trash too. Anyways I'll probably come down there in April or May after I graduate from college and start at Wyotech, we should set up a meeting and hang out, it'd be nice to have something to do other than sit on the farm with no cable (main reason I havent been down in so long ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO except wander in the back forty and maybe wander over to Greenvile or Kinston mall (both of which suck. Would be nice to actually hang out at a shop, get some advice on how they work since I want ot open my own shop in the future.s14_girl wrote:
