2ZZ is great for cars that weigh nothing. I wasn't picking on it's high-strung nature. I was picking on the fact that even at 8200rpm it is still gutless.Even Elise owners in their featherweight cars complain about lack of power. My point was there's no way the teeny gutless 2ZZ is adequate for what will be a 3000+ lb modern 4 seat coupe. The Elise and Celica and MRS are one thing...this thing is a whole different story.HashiriyaS14 wrote:The 2ZZ is a great engine for track use, which is why it's in the Elise. I like it better than the B18C5, actually. Low end is irrelevant in engines like that, so there's little point in disparaging their high-strung characteristics.
It looks more like C-4S than C-45, but the youtube vid isnt all that clear. The C might be what Toyobaru is gonna badge its Boxer engines with,4 - 4 cylindersS - Direct injection, Thats what S used to mean on Toyota engines anyway.RCA wrote:This was posted in the first page of the thread but did you hear the car shift in the video...
Sounded a little to quick to be a manual shift. Also what is with the C-45?4.5L? It definitely looks like a 4 cyls though.
MRS's used a 1ZZ.MinisterofDOOM wrote:

All of this is so unrealistic for a $20k car nowadays. If thats what you want, then go buy an Elise. 2500lbs is even lighter than the current Miata. And I assume you still want back seats?flohtingPoint wrote:
They want to release a real next-gen 86, give me the following:-A technologically stupid car (no fancy lights, only analog gauges, etc)-plain-Jane interior-3SGE motor-No more than 2500 lbs curb weight-option for crank windows-No bigger than 15 inch wheels stock-no plastic motor garnish anywhere under the bonnet
I can keep going but it's a moot point. This idea by Toyota is misguided.
Saving cash on a totally plain interior and no gadgets can drop that price quickly.simmode1 wrote:

They'll have to use exotic materials to get the wieght down that low and still make the car liveable for a DD. And that will drive up the price.
from what i've heard... could be wrong... but its a government regulation that they weigh more now so that they are 'safer'flohtingPoint wrote: Car companies have little excuse at putting out the pigs they do these days.
I love how the government wants to make everyone safe even if they are unhappy. Problem is they don't want the liability. I'll sign a waiver, give me what I f*cking want!!PEZi720 wrote:from what i've heard... could be wrong... but its a government regulation that they weigh more now so that they are 'safer'
