i bought that under the impression that it would save me time on the dyno, and at $100 an hour that adds up pretty fast. if it doesn't work out i'll sell it and get an aem. good luck with your project!

so i took all these nifty pictures for you guys and left my camera at the shop. brilliant girl. the RA1's are in, mounting/balancing should be done on wednesday, then i can finally throw out the disgusting, dry rotted tires that came on the car and clean up the stock rims. also can install that sweet tein suspension.

valve cover is done, haven't seen it yet, but i hear it looks damn good. who wants to guess the color?

in my boredom with waiting for the lift , i decided to relocate my climate control to the lower radio bezel. really not that difficult if you have a dremel, looks like it should be there, all in all quite a successful little detour. now i have a nice empty, eye-level space for up to 3 gauges, or maybe just 1 gauge and a boost controller...i'll post pics when i find the camera.lots to do this weekend!

I'm guessing pink for the valve covers.

Lookin good, you going to be doing some serious track duty? If so oil coolers are very necessary for rb26s on the street alone not to mention on the track. And your not going to gain two quarts using one. My greedy gave me less than a quart.

i used the rb26 oil pan and the sway bar you can use to clear the rb26 pan is the a31 cefiro rb20det front sway bar and it will clear the pan and if you have a nismo power brace it clears that also, and bolts up with no mods needed.

how did you get your hands on one though, i've looked everywhere...nothing.

spooled240-the entire car is going to be painted to match the engine bay.

no one has guessed it yet! this is sort of fun.

Well, I didn't get as much done as I wanted, but at least the transmission situation is cleared up. We sent these huge effin bolts through the bottom of the McKinney mounts and cross member. Then we tightened down the bushings and noticed this:

The drivers side black bushing McKinney sent has no metal reinforcement whatsoever. So all it does under compression is-compress. I don't like it. So when we get it back up to do the driveshaft install we are going to prop up the motor, take out the bushing and put in a steel sleeve through the middle. At this point I can't even tighten down the nut , there is still a gap between it and hte aluminum plate backing. The passenger side, a yellow one they recently sent me, looks great and allows the nut to tighten up, if I had 2 of those everything would be cool.

Powder coating pics (or as I like to say "valve cover pr0n"):

It looks lighter and orangy in the pics, but in person it is a very deep and dark red. Gorgeous.

its progress.

Valve cover looks nice.

My Mack motor mount is doing the similar... but its actually melting... I'll be making a solid puck this week for it.

jc, can't believe they are charging so much for something that fails so easily. i was actually worried about it ripping, i guess melting is a better outcome...

jc lol, haven't heard that in a while.

Um, it was fine stock, although stock I broke both poly mounts....10 months of use. 6-7k miles.

My exhaust manifold now dips down only about 1.5-2" away from the mount.... not really an excuse, but the material just cant handle the ambient temps.

I really feel Mack should just make these mounts a solid puck of Alum instead of this poly material, then at the base and top have some type of silicon to help absorb the vibrations. It would be much more effective I feel.

the yellow one he sent is sort of like that, it is solid metal through the center, and wrapped in poly, at least that is how it appears. they are apparently for their higher power customers and road race cars.

even though i bought the kit 5 years ago, he still sent me new bushings, you might be able to do the same if you ask, but make sure get the yellows!

I would prefer the ends to be made of silicone. personally.

but a good idea. Either solid aluminum or a hockey puck =P

Your valve covers are beautiful. I can only imagine what they look like in direct sunlight.

Did you also paint the 'Twin Turbo' emblem the same color? (It looks semi close, from the pics)

*Edit* I need to learn to read better. Says 'Powder Coating pr0n.'

We now offer a semi-solid mount and can supply a alum sollid moun if necessary, but most people want to keep the vibs to a minumin..

call us for info and request the new semi-solid mount at no additional charge when ordering kits...

WOW!!! VERY NICE! I can eat off that engine

solid poly bushings vibrate pretty bad already IMO, I can't imagine solid aluminum bushings.

mack, is that mount supposed to look like that? we loosened the nut a bit so the bushing didn't look so smashed, but in any case the nut can't fully tighten against the bottom of the bracket and this makes me nervous. any suggestions?

I'm not sure what you've heard but I've got solid chromoly mounts on my 26 bolted to steel plates welded to the frame and the car doesn't vibrate that much. It's not as smooth as a Lexus but it's not a Cat bulldozer either. I don't even notice it.

The fact that it's an I6 makes all the difference.
