Thanks zilla, I was going back and forth with myself on using them or buying a Tomei or Greddy Metal Gasket kit for that side.

Will make use of the paper ones now and take your word on the RTV as well.

what did you use to seal the rear drain? Just RTV or you make your own gasket? Also what size fitting is that on the drain pipe?

for the metal i'd probably just keep the surfaces clean and put it on. maybe use some copper spray to give it some tackiness/thickness (that aerosol headgasket stuff). I think the main reason mine failed is because of many re-uses. The smaller gaskets tend to warp and stuff. With paper gaskets you're kinda forced to throw them away

the paper just seems a bit more forgiving to surface imperfections, but probably not as durable as the metal ones. the metals are more expensive and probably seal better if they are fresh and you install them right.

It fits perfectly into that upper Oil plug in the back of the head when you pop it out. The fitting has a large o-ring that snugs it in there tight. There are set screws that go into the back of the head which everything was RTV for added assurance.

The fitting is a whopping -12AN which runs down to that weld on -12AN bung on the sump. (just gotta buy the line )

So is there a little circular pretrusion of the drain plug that slides into where the welsh plug was? Or did they cut a circular groove into the square part of the drain plug and place an o-ring in there? Did you happen to take any pictures of it by chance?

Hey i noticed you are running one of the Turbonetics GTK's .... how did you like it? Any noticeable differences over a Garret Ball Bearing?

I can't really say or compare since I have yet to run this GTK on a 100% running motor.

it looks like the HG was leaking on the #1 cylinder.. unless that brown is just oil on the head....

most likely its the oil from the head / copper crap all over the place.

All but the #5 cylinder had 160ish PSI compression while #5 only had 60.

Leak down test showed no signs of leaking through the rings or the valves of any sort.

take the head to a shop to get the ports checked for leaks, you can eliminate one item there.

yea, thats the plan. Other than that an OEM headgasket is going down since this motor will only be seeing 20+psi of boost.

hmm
