What mods would need to be done to an rb25/26 motor to keep up with or beat bpu supras?

I know a couple of guys with them, and they are cool, but they think every other car besides the supra is a joke, as far as imports.

They are bpu'd. I have saved up quite a bit money. I would like to go rb, putting straight 6 against straight 6.

What would be a better choice, rb26 or 25? I have about 15k saved up, I was going to buy a supra, but I decided to kill all of their noise and show them an rb powered 240 is a monster.

Any advice?

Thanx

The Rb 26 mated to the rb25 transmission would be your best FR combination and with that much saved up you could easily be putting a driveable 650+ if you want the specifics you may want to try the engine specific RB forum they would be able to give you the best advice for your particular target

thanx I appreciate your reply. I am not looking for quite so much hp. 650 is a bit much for a 240sx fastback. I was looking along the lines of 400whp or maybe even 350whp.

I could easily run low 12 to high 11 with that, I beleive. What mods would be necessary to get to this point?

Thanx again

Turbo, Injectors, Standalone, FMIC.Well those are the major things for a 25 to get to that level.

Wont a Safc be sufficient vs a standalone?

I know I am not an expert, but even a SR can go to 350/400+ hp with T3/T4, safc, FMIC, bigger Injectors, walbro255l.

Right?

FRed..:)

I figure that if you're going out to show people what your engine can do, a half a** tune job on it is kinda lame. But for around 350-400, yes a piggyback will do the job. A standalone will just do it better and yield better power. If I had that money I'd definitely spend the extra bills for a decent standalone setup. :)

I think it mainly depends on you and whether you'd be going from a dig or a roll. Up top, sorry to say, you're going to get pizowncaked. From a dig to say 100 you might (depending on driver) be able to stay neck and neck. Supras do have the upper hand when it comes to gearing.. even though they're not the lightest of things, BPU supras can put down a good 380-400 WHP... straight BPU.

Bam, instant low 12's on a supra.

Okay, what turbo do guys recommend? t3/t4? Damn I love supras, but I hate them too, you can make them so damn fast for next to nothing, and the engine and transmission will take hella abuse.

Maybe I should just save more and get the supra.

low 12s!?

jesus...i thought that supras were like high 13 second cars stock...and then maybe BPU would put them in the low 13 second range...

a stock supra with a good driver, good tires can do about a high 12, low 13. BPU, you're tappin on 11's already.

Once you start jumping to the 650-750 whp range with a responsive turbo, you're knockin' on high 9's, low 10.

Not to mention, they would also destroy a LOT on the freeway.

As you know, they can beat a variety of cars of lower weight (granted it's not 1,000 lbs lighter), and of the same power simply because of their superior transmission. That's always something to look out for. They run with a lot of high end luxury (m3s are a joke), as well as high performance street cars such as the corvette and viper at a simple BPU- BPU+.

If you're getting this engine just to run with a supra, I'd stop wasting your money.

Low 13s stock? I don't think so.. You're talking abut a car with 320hp stock @ 3,505lb. That does not equal low 13s. High 13s maybe, more than likely with your average driver on street tires low 14s. No doubt with increased boost and such they'd be a lot faster, but let's not act like they're faster stock than they are. With that engine he could easily compete with a supra. And still spend total less than it would cost for a stock supra.

teriyakibroccoli sounds like one of those people who thinks the supra is the 'end all' import. It's not dude. 240sx with RB could easly outperform and outcost a BPU Supra.

just visit the supraforums drag section sometime, and maybe you'll learn a little something before you start putting words into my mouth and making assumptions about what i'm saying?

I'm sorry, but it's a very feasible time. You think a good driver in a stock supra is gonna run a 14 second pass? You know I'm not counting NA supras in when i'm saying this right?

And to be honest, I don't have to act like they're faster than they are because .. they are as fast as I'm saying they are.

And uh, I think the supra is the "end all" import. Find me another import that will hang at the track, hang on the freeway, turn the heads.. without hacking up and swapping parts from other cars.

Sure, it costs more.. but thats what it takes to be that perfect.

Flame away 240sxer.

By the way, its not ALL about power/weight ratio.... If that were so, my minibike would own all at the track. Keep in mind the driver and gearing of the transmission play a HUGE role in determining these stats.

Uhh, i think that a R34 Skyline would give the supra a run for its money, they are just as sexy, and have a similar QMT as the supra. I found your challenge right here.

I personally think that you are stuck in a mind loop. You must obviously love the supra and thats fine. but as far as declaring a be all "end all" to imports, you are stuck like a broken record player and need to fix your mindset.

Not to mention that you are on a nissan forum talking smack about toyotas. If you must flame away, look. The stock (no mods at all) R34 weighs 3,395 LBS. Close to your end all supra, and has less power to boot. I was quoted 13.3 on the QMT so what do you have to say now?

actually they're all rated at the same power, you're telling me you haven't heard about the whole "special tax" thats placed on cars above a certain power rating in japan? Put a stock r34 on a dyno and you'll be surprised. You'll notice the japanese supra and skyline are both rated at 280 HP... yet the USDM and JDM 2jz-gte s produce similar power? Hmm..

Please let me claify, I also meant to throw in AFFORDABLE.. the skyline is priced well enough to be considered an exotic. Yeah, a r34 would give the supra a run for its money, but keep in mind, the R34 transmission is also geared better to handle the h2h type of competition that a supra v. skyline would undertake. A 5 speed will simply not do.

And I do know I'm on a nissan forum, but I'm not talking smack about toyotas... OR NISSANS. He wanted the facts? Well, sorry to say, the stock RB25/26 mated to the rb25 transmission will not hold up against a similar engine that has a better matched getrag 6-spd.

I'm getting frustrated with people who think i'm FLAMING them. I'm not a goddamn internet troll, nor did I want to bring this thread off topic.

The original question: RB25 240 v. 2jz BPU who will win? who do you think will win.. honestly. With the kinds of numbers BPU supras are putting down easily.. what do you expect me to say.

I think the RB 240 will win. The RB puts out around 300hp with "BPU" 350-400 or somthing. And it weighs 2600-2700lb. It's nearly 1,000 lb lighter than the supra.

I saw these 2 dudes at LACR with "BPU" supras on huge *** tires running high 12s. They were whining that the track was oh so horrable and they couldnt hook up. wha wha wha..

I was running mid 13s at the same track on 225/45R16 Kumo 712s in the rear.

I think you could easily make a 240 kill a BPU supra below the cost of a base supra.

yeah gearing can only make up for so much wieght...1,000 pounds is a HUGE gap there broc...don't get me wrong a supra is a badass car here, but we are talking about a heavily modified 240 here..

yep... i think you went overboard w/some of the stats. I see all the time supras struggling to get into the 10's with 700+hp...

And the fd will give the supra a run for the money.

In all honesty, low 13's is very do-able in a stock supra.

I re-read the poster's original post, and I somehow managed to skip over the part where he had 15k saved up. Guess it really depends on how they'll be racing... There are just too many variables to factor into this.

Well the R34 actually had higher power figures due to minor changes/improvements. That power figures crap of 280bhp is misunderstood alot. It also uses a Gewtrag 6 speed so yeah that would be fair to. They give Supras owners a run for their money but thats not the topic here. Both import titans with respect to each. Haven driven and having friends own a few BPU MKIV's I will say it is amazing to see what you get out of the 2jz with just the upgrade but wanting to beat one of these in a S13 hatch? Sounds like you are amazed by these cars but you really dont want the power to keep up or beat them, do you? Im still building up my RB26 power s14 and will be for some time. Originally I was gonna push it stock but im gonna use uprated internals as I feel its so much safer. Power upgrading to extent such as this is something you need to have deep pockets for. you can get 400+whp from the KA with torque numbers up there to assist or the SR with bolt ons and tuning. Again I dont mean to bash or hijack this thread. Just my .02

I really don't know what to say....

But, I want to set most of you straight....

A RB26 Powered 240SX with BPU will KILL a Supra with BPU.

The two motors will make about the same horsepower with stock twins.

The 240SX is much lighter.

If you doubt what I'm saying, feel free to call me on it.

I own a RB26 Powered 240SX, and I'm not speculating like most....
