Haha, drove home from school tonight.
It doesn't block glare as awesome as my Broadway rear view mirror, but now I can look into it without being blinded anymore!

Well, got the Z seats in and redid my headliner in faux-suede!

For the seats, you keep one rear bracket, the one that goes on the floor.
Image

Then you use the brackets off of your stock S13 seats.
Image
For the bracket that goes on the Door's side, cut the stock bracket off WITH the rail so it acts as a spacer.
Bolt the brackets on for a mockup to make sure everything lines up, and weld away!

We had to cut some of the plastic on the Z seats so it doesn't hit the floor and stuff, I'll take some pictures of that later.

First time welding!

I love the suede, so much better than my old stock cloth one!

going to want to redo that. practice on some scrap first. try it slow, fast, push the nozzle closer and pull it further away. figure out what works. you want it to sound like scrambled eggs. lol. you dont want that seat bracket braking during a hard turn or hard braking lol. also make sure you clean all the paint off first (looks like you already did.) also you can try like "zig zag" patterns or "horseshoe" on welds that overlap like that. you get a wider spread that way. dont know what kind of welder you are using, but mess with the amps and wire speed. if its a newer one, they usually say the desired ball park of the amps and wire speed under the lid.

your interior is so clean looking. i like it a lot. but paint the dome light black please haha

and how are those mirrors working out for you? hook up the heated mirror option yet?

Good tips Moto!
I also kept the bolts that held the brackets in too, just in case.
I didn't hook up the defrost on the mirrors though, never really need em haha.

Also for my interior pieces, I'm probably going to keep the visor and stuff unmounted until I get black pieces for em, including the dome light.

Nope, they sit a bit lower now, I like em!

read 490 posts in this thread (thats all of them) and I dig the car, do you happen to remember the thread that you used for your replacement interior pieces (the ones made of leather) is it just heavy-duty red thread?

Thanks!
It was just a heavy-duty thread from JoAnns, seems to be holding up okay but I wish I went with something a bit more quality since the one on the handbrake is getting a bit fuzzy looking.

Yesterday, while I was tightening my downpipe bolts, all my transmission crossmember bolts were loose and one was missing.
Add that to the junkyard grocery list.

Razi! haha hey buddy, I remember you left a comment on my intro thread awhile ago when I joined NICO. just read your thread from beginning to end, and I gotta say I dig what you're doin!! one of the cleanest KA-T setups I've seen. I like your interior and the all around cleansliness of your car. I'm def going to strip some side mirror lenses off a maxima next time I go to pick n pull now that I saw that. those Fortune Auto coilovers look like quality pieces btw, I'm surprised I've never heard of em. keep up the good work man, I will be checking this thread out fo sho!

Thanks for the compliments!

Also a small update on my engine, I removed that rat's nest of vacuum lines at the back of the head, unhooked the line to the Swirl valve so it stays open all the time, and simplified everything else.
I recommend people to remove that swirl valve or just unhook it, my boost comes on more smoothly now it seems.
Don't mind the arrow.
Swirl valve controls the butterfly valves in the manifold.

The Fortune Auto coilovers are awesome! It's quite comfortable even on the freeway, as long as I don't hit any large bumps, it absorbs everything else quite nicely.

hey man, have you had any problems with your speaker adapters? I installed the same ones along with some expensive jbl speakers. 2 months later they started sounding funny. took the panel off to find that the adapters placed the speakers in a location that made them rub against the door panels. both my speakers have big holes in them now.

Nope, mine are fine right now.
My speakers are pretty sunk though, so I think I'm safe.

A bump from the abyss! :gapteeth:

Thanks Bex!

Currently I'm putting in a Quest alternator and replacing my front main seal since I have time during Winter break.
Finally I'll stop having oil leaks. >:|

Ugh, finally a new update.

Installing the Quest alternator was a bit of a pain in the butt with the car so low.
I was basically upside down in the engine bay just to see be able to mess with the alternator.
The write-up around the Internet was helpful, but everyone that did it seemed to have an underdrive crank pulley and the belts info wasn't any good.

Going back and forth from Autozone, I found a belt that worked!
Image
Give them that belt part number, but see if you can get the one that's slightly smaller than this one or you'll have to modify the alternator bracket a lot to get enough tension in the belt, but it works!

The front main seal was a pretty easy job, if you're thinking about doing it, I say go for it!

I also decided to trim the fan shroud.
The stock radiator's core is actually thinner than the top and bottom tanks so the shroud sort of sits inside the radiator, but the Koyo's core is just as thick as the end tanks so the edge of the fan shroud doesn't sit flush with the radiator.
I trimmed all the edges so it sits flusher, and probably slightly improves airflow.
Image
I also trimmed away the vacuum hose holders on the fan shroud since I deleted all the useless vacuum lines and now the shroud looks smooth!

Then I repainted my cooling panels in gloss black, and installed a stock SR20 airbox. ;)
Image

Finally, I ordered a new pump from FRsport since my current one was acting weird for a while now.

I don't like the way the Walbro fuel sock attaches to the pump so I found a small washer and pushed it onto the pump so it keeps the sock on.
Then I ziptied it for extra security. :)
Image

My old pump's sock fell off once and it sucked in a lot of crud in the fuel tank, I think that's what killed it.
I reattached it but the damage was already done, still this way of securing the sock seems to work very well!

While I was in the garage I decided to wrap the cigarette lighter socket in tape so it fit snug and stopped flopping about.
Couldn't really think of an easier solution besides JB welding the thing on there, which would make things more annoying when pulling the center console thing off.
Image

Hope those tips help!

Now I need to do an oil change and install my Nismo t-stat sometime.
I hate coolant!
