Did you modify a single din kit to get it to fit?

nope everything you need is in the box. You remove the side brackets on your OEM radio and they fit perfectly to this head unit, then it screws in exactly like your OEM and theres a small trim piece included in the box as well

Very cool. I have a question, when you browse through files on the usb drive with the conrol knob, is the list looped or you have to scroll from A-Z? I have a Kendwood KDC-BT838U and one of the thing I find somewhat annoying is that I can only scroll through the list from top to bottom. I also like how you can rest your hand on the gearshift when wheeling the control knob.

no it automatically scrolls back from z to a for you no need to go all the way back. If you organize your files like i do...artist folder, albums inside it....this will give you a very easy to use interface

i am however having issues with the usb....its not seeing all the songs on the drive. Now this flash drive was given to me for free so maybe its bad quality, but Im going to read the manual (as i still havent set the damn clock) and see if i can fix this then i can get an external hard drive and.....well im giving too much info already, just brace yourselves this year, thats all.

I see.

For your usb problem, check the manual and see if there's a section about how to properly structure files for each folder. I remember when I was reading the manual of my Kenwood, it stated that you can only have maximum of 255 folders and each folder could have maximum of 255 files. I think this is universially true accross different manufactuer because it has to do with the USB protocol that's used for reading these kind of devices.

yeah i looked into it, you can have 500 folders, 8 tiers, and up to 15000 files. min storage space of 250mb and max 250gb

finally figured out the clock setting adjustment.as for the usb, im using a flash drive, gunna try my external hard drive see if that works

Thats Beautiful, its what i've been wanting to do. did you get yours off crutchfield? thats where i've been lookin at getting mine. i haven't done much in the way of stereo installs, is it very difficult with the bose speakers?

no its very easy to install, wires are all colour coded, and you need to buy an aftermarket wire harness to connect to nissan wiring ($10) and to get the bose speakers to work its an additional 1 wire connection to the harness.

I just started school again this week...last year of college thank god! Its been consistently -20C here all week(-8 degrees F) so its really not time to be near the q unless im driving it. but i did go out there just now to see if something worked...

So as i said before, the sound quality on bluetooth streaming music was decent but not great, a distinctive high pitch could be heard slightly,. drove me nuts. And the USB....isnt showing all the files. I tried a memory stick with no luck either.

I also didnt like how the bluetooth music didnt show track names! ARGH! but i found that if i connect my PHONE direct via usb.....it reads its memory card and plays the songs on it..again doesnt see all of them though. I cant figure out why. but this is a huge plus right now....bluetooth calls still work, and i dont have to open the phones media player, just plug in and shows folders and track info, in perfect quality.

I got a feeling if i use a USB hard drive instead of flash it will read all files...we shall see!

i told myself id return the deck if ther was anything i didnt like...but my friend who is my mechanic was gunna change my oil 2 days ago and while rolling the q into the shop...he screamed at the cd player about how amazingly sweet it looks!

ive grown too fond of it and im sure will find a fix to these problems, its just something stupid. If it reads most the tracks then it should read them all.

note i used a blackberry curve for a bit and the Bluetooth music sounded alot better but i really prefer my motorola q over that phone!

I just picked up the exact unit from best Buy, $299, couldn't pass up the deal! I'm waiting to get the right harness before installing it, but I am so excited to have it up and running, should have it installed by the weekend. How do you like it now that you have had time to use it a little more?

i love it! some things you should know though...

depending on phone, bluetooth music may not be the best quality...its better on cd or usb. Expected since your streaming music wirelessly.

call quality is amazing....your phone connects automatically when you enter the vehicle it doesnt even have to leave your pocket. Numbers are displayed...caller id when someones calling, you can go through your phone book and dial direct all without taking your phone out. very slick, and conversations go fine, no complaints of echos.

USB.....this i JUST figured out. About 50% of my songs wouldnt be found when i connected a USB drive. I did some research and found that ID3 tags cause it not to be read. If you want i can send you the program to remove tage (very easy to use) just make sure you use it when the songs are on your USB drive...if you do it to YOUR songs on your computer your computer and ipod or wahtever wont be able to determine artist, and info like that.

I got 80% of the songs working...ill figure out whats up soon. very busy lately. I organize my music so that there is folder>folder>songs.....so...

Artist > Album > songsTiesto > Elements of Life > Track 1 as much as i hate ipods, this gives me the exact same interface as them on my pioneer HU.

The remote control kicks ***. The rotary knob kicks ***. the sound quality kicks ***. and the bluetooth functionality is absolutely perfect. Bluetooth audio is still new tech so of course its not perfect (like songs arent displayed on screen when streaming from bluetooth) but pioneer mastered in car calls with this deck.

at $299 you cant go wrong especially with cell phone laws in cars coming in to place everywhere

That's awesome, I was concerned about the BT call quality, in my dad's 530i, it always sounds a bit echo-ey, but that may also be because he insists on having the volume up. I don't use USB drives often, I will probably just stick with my ipod for now, untill i instal an actual hardrive sometime. Do you think i should have any problems with song info being displayed from the ipod?I'm so excited to have it up and running, i have a Harmon Kardon drive and play in there now, but it attracts attention from the wrong kind of people. if you know what i mean. and it's parked in a driveway, no garage.

Interesting on your ID3 problem. My Pioneer loves the ID3 tags and shows all the info when its all filled out.

However my pioneer bluetooth plug-in adapter (not built in to the unit like yours) sucked so much that i sold it, it did not work with my phonebook and theres no point in looking at your cell phone and dialing the number into the stereo. might as well just use the damn phone if you already got it out. And people did complain of the sound quality (i had the mic in the exact same spot as you).

im glad you can use the bluetooth without pulling your phone out your pocket cause thats exactly what i wanted. pimpsh!t!!!

I like USB better than an ipod too, but i hate ipod so you could say im biased.

hey does your stereo faceplate come off?? like for security? (wait do you have that problem in canada??)

I have the AVIC-Z2 Headunit and the steering wheel control set up is a little tricky but not that hard all do-able with a little patience.

you guys are great but crazy.

the ipod is so sick in my opinion.

i have 160gb of memory for video, music or pictures and it all displays on my pioneer screen. full ipod interface for videos music and it charges my ipod while i use it.

im sorry but im not going to be-able to put 160gb of video on any device and have it operate on my screen without taking the thing out of the glove box. i throw the ipod in the glove box lock it and forget it. great security

Nothing beats it your just hatin.

I agree with slickroger. the Ipod is awesome. i only have a 40gb, but still, find me a usb stick that can hold that much music and i can pull out, sync with laptop, and go to my friends house, pop into his stereo at an event, then go skiing with, then pop back in my car and still have new music for the day? got my hands on the harness and the 8000bt is going in tommorow morning. we should get another GTA pathy meet going, i missed the last one, we could get some good 4wheel drifts in before winter leaves.

its a tiny 2.5" external drive, and its usb powered so no pesky cables...i paid $100cdn for it, its worth less than that but its considered a "collector item" to me because its stainless steel and was designed by f.a porsche. as jeremy clarkson of top gear would tell me...i am a c***. lmao sorry i like car memoribilia...i cant afford the real thing so ill wear my damn ferarri hat in my nissan thank you very much!

Well, the deck is in! it is mighty sweet! i will post pics once i can get in the Pathy and clean her up... damn canadian winters. I think i might go the usb drive route as well... it just seems alot better than the ipod route, even though i love my ipod. my only concern, will the usb drive skip at all due to the vibration? the ipod or a usb stick handle movement well, but would an actual hard drive?

LOL alright slick, you got it, just txt me whenever you want me to come by and drop it off.....and maybe ill get some of those women off you :p

as for the splitting the usb drive...you stole my idea! LOL i was thinking of putting a whole slot for multiple card reading, and usb stick. so you can connect an ipod (hey i MIGHT get one some day) or any kind of media. splitting the usb WILL work, just have a toggle switch between the two....and make sure all 5 wires are switched.

the hard drive does not skip...just make sure its a external hard drive and preferably a 2.5" that size is made for laptops....skip proof. I almost got a military grade hard drive they use in the panasonic toughbooks off a buddy of mine who worked at panasonic...but it was only 40gb

anyways, great things are to come this spring, i have a vision. i just built a new pc since its too cold to blow any money on the q without a garage!

and yes. i cuddleing love top gear.

oh c*** did i just swear?

Who doesn't love top gear!? in the off seasons, i watch old reruns to keep me going.

Question, so I don;t know if my buddy wired it wrong ( i can't solder) but my antenna is always up now, as soon as i turn on the car... is that how it should be?

more than likely i think he hooked it up to ur amp turn on wire as apposed to the antenna turn on wire, it should not b up unless ur source is set to radio, did u have the two wires, or just one? how are ur speaker is the sound louder and better than stock, try switching between sources and c what happens

p.s. roger thanks for the link

The sound is a HUGE step up from normal. the system is actually louder and crisper. the deck has some moderate equalization options, i'm happy, it was a great addition.Only issue so far is the antenna, and my now nearly deceased ipod. i leave it in my truck all night, and when it gets to cold, it refuses to turn on. i may be switching to USB flash drive very soon. i don't know if its worth the time to pul the deck out and fix the antenna issue.
