rustoleum ftwi woke up one day and told myself, that i was gonna paint my carthe original paint was chipped and fadedi stripped the hood and the fenders and realized that it was too much work to do for the whole cartools i used: harbor freight sander, and paint stripperi taped the car and fixed a few dentsput the first coat. there was a butload of orange peel.second coat, or third.. i cant remember i sanded, gradually moving up in grit. then i cut with some rubbing compound and finished with polishing compound. no wax yet. i still havent finshed the whole car but i am making progress.half finished finished fender i will post more when car is done

so just out of curiosity, are you going to clear it as well? for all the work you've done so far I personally would have got some proper clear coat and then wet sanded and buffed that

been there...not a very good idea to paint it with rustolium ....it will cost you prolly 500 bucks in sandpaper and a month of sanding to get it off!

i was gonna do this with hunter green. turned out the green was brighter than what i wanted. the more cars i see with rustolium paint jobs makes me wish they made a darker color green

i dnt know what clear coats are compatible with rustoleum. i heard that if they arent the same brand they might mess each other up. i dont think rustoleum makes a clear, not sure though

For painting, did you thin the paint out with mineral spirits? and what percentage roughly did you mix?

it really depends on the temperature........50/50 was way to thin so i tried 20/80?? 20 thinner and 80 paint
