I have been thinking of doing a mass project of modifying the maxima bars and selling them out to Q owners.... Not to mention im poor and I need a little something until my job starts back up in the spring......

I have a shop available with all the necessary tools to get this done....

Assuming I would get the bars for about $10, I would sell them for about $20-$25 shipped......

Assuming everything goes according to plan, Id do about 10 at a time to keep my overhead low...

So do I have any takers... Take in mind that the stillen bar is like $80.... And to my knowledge its just as comprable....

You would also have the peace of mind that it was done right.. I would test fit these on my Q before shipping, so it should be a bolt-and-play, no adjustment required....!

Right now, if I can get 5 takers I'll start initiating something.....

Wes - I say go for it!

However, you're gonna need to reconsider your price, as I considered doing this project myself when I made my FSTB.

If you get them for $10, you have to pay shipping. Then you have to ship them out to the customers. There's a good $20 there. You want to make $25 each just to make it worthwhile, so set your price at $50-60. They're a lot of work, and from Jeff's (and my) experience, to do them right, you really need to do some cutting and welding.

Actually, you'll be BEST off if you can just fab up some new feet (the holes in the Max design are placed terribly for the Q), and the metal is far too flimsy IMO.

Also, keep in mind that the height is VERY sensitive. Try to set it so it's 3/4" above the plenum at the center. Any higher and it'll crush the hood insulation. Any lower and it'll hit the plenum on hard acceleration.

I can send you pics of mine if you want.

Some one to manufacture the mounting brackets is what is needed here. Cast or CNC machined aluminum would be nice, but forged would be best.

I would take one of these in a group buy....you guys are convincing me that this would be good for my 94.... I want it to handle like the 90, but ride like a 94.... Is that asking too much?

I have considered pulling my one-off custom ones OFF the car and delivering them to a local machine shop for duplication.

However, i don't want ONE DAY of wallowy handling! :)

In case someone is interested in a used one already modified for a 91 Q, I'm selling mine. I'm giving the car to mom and she doesn't do quite as much hard cornering as I do. Email me at [email protected] for info/pix.

Yeah, I've never been a big poster but I've been a fly on the wall pretty consistently. I recently bought a 95 m3 and am also selling my Stillen intake with my custom made heat shield/cold air system. Also, my beautiful O.Z. wheels with Kumho tires. Email me for pix and pricing if interested.

True.

As soon as i receive the bar it will go to our guys for replication. I can't promise it'll be as "sexy" as the Steelin bar, but it will be beefy and functional.

I've had nothing but bad experiences with Stillen... and for some reason nothing they've sold me has lived up to their claims...

I've delivered the one-off prototypes to the fabrication experts, so we should be pretty close to completion. I'll keep you all posted!
