As soon as I return from Austin on the 28th with our new car, I'll take the Q over to the fabricator, since we'll have 3 cars for a few days... Difficult to be without my daily driver. :(

Ohhh, if you could bring one (or more) to the meet, that would be TOO COOL.

I would really like to have a little more rumble in my exhaust compared to stock. Not a lot, but just enought at WOT especially after get the ECU, 4.08 rearend, TCU, etc....I just can't imagine not letting a little rumble out the rear while cruising at WOT in the 1/4 mile or here on I-95.... I guess new exhaust is next :)

I couldn't agree more...very well said on all the above. I might just have to go abuse some sales person one day and go joy riding in an older Q to see what I am missing. I'll let you know when I do...:D

Search the forums for "G45". It is rumored that Infiniti will release a VK45 in an AWD or RWD vehicle with a 6-speed manual transmission.

dkill.....I test drove the new M45 and Wow!!! What an awesome car. I about fell over when I pulled into the dealer for service a little over a year ago and saw the car. I asked them what the heck was that and why I have not heard of it. It had just came out the week before. The service guy got a sales guy to give me a spin in it. It is truely an amazing car...very fast and smooth, but a little on the quiet side. I could not hear the engine enough. The M45 has airconditioning seats, where they blow cool air out of the seats and that is really nice living here in Miami. I almost bought one that day, but I stuck with my guns and said that if I am going to buy a car...my next car will be a convertible. I just might have to hunt down an M45 one night after I get all these mods done to see who is faster. I think that the M45 will win, but I would like to try.

Okay. You guys keep talking about hearing the engine. I know I just got my Q45 a few days ago. It's a 1990 None touring edition.

My car is silent. There is not engine noise except the clanking noise it's making. I see the water pump pulley has a lot of play and I'm hoping that the noise is just the bad water pump and nothing major. (Everyone Pray for Me. LoLz)

Anyway, my point was that my car is dead silent. Should it be making noise?

Also, I'm thinking of putting on a 3 inch high flow exhaust is that too much or would that be fine. I don't want it too load cause I don't want to be getting pulled over by the police on a daily basis.

Also, I just got my car and I don't know how the hell do you work the Driver Seat Memory buttons. My car didn't come with the factory owners manual. I was messing with it all last night and I really can't figure out how to set it. Or it might not even work on my car anymore.

Thanks guys and any imput would be greatly appreciated.

Ahem,

Back to the subject of this thread... FSTB. What is the word on them? I saw this on ebay...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...sting

...these things are going for a nickel short of 8 bucks!... Make that 9 if you 'buy it now'

It's a 2k Maxima Strut brace. It looks as cheap as it's price would dictate it to be. The bar looks no sturdier than an umbrella stalk, however, I'm only looking at a pic. Has anyone tried one of these on a Q? If so, what did you think of it?

Hate to be redundant but I need to make sure... did you guys order the very same FSTB that I posted the ebay link to? I'm thinking of buying one if it works well. You can't beat 9 bucks.

drew, unless you want to wait for the custom brace that hitman is working on, i'd say go for it. the maxima braces pop up all the time on ebay, so it really is no big deal. and for 9 bucks (doesn't it seem like the shipping is outrageous!!! guess that's how they cover the 9 bucks!!). i just bought a cheap one that i haven't gotten around to installing, but even after it's on, if hitman's brace looks better, i might upgrade.BTW---don't think there's much chance of the brace breaking while installed.jeff

Drew,

I wouldn't advise waiting for anything, coming from BRM. They seem like a good tuner company, but in terms of Q45 parts, they have fallen flat over and over again.

No ExhaustNo 4.08No STB

Nothing but promises, and delays... Actually a delay would mean, it would eventually be released... So in that case nothing but promises, and nothing.

Yeah Jeff...

Those inflated "shipping" costs are the way some sellers truly collect their money.... Still, the object is an akward shape to ship so I expect it would be slightly higher (but not that high). It's still cheap nevertheless.

I didn't think it would break, however, It seems so flimsy that I thought it may flex under pressure and not perform as well as a higher quality unit. My main concern is not knowing if it's gonna touch the plenum cause I surely dont want any vibrations. Why don't you hurry up and put yours on man? The suspense is killing me... you're not a very cooperative guinea pig. :)

Does anyone know if you can modify a Q45T (Y33) FSTB, to fit on a G50?

http://imagehost.vendio.com/bi...0.JPG

Look how much better that looks, then the flimsy maxima one. That looks much more substanial.

Elw, Thanks. I would much rather use the unit from the Y33 Q45's. It looks much more substanial. I don't trust that flimsy maxima unit. I would much rather have the unit made for a Big two ton RWD sedan, then a much lighter fwd sedan, with two less cylinders.

I definetely do not trust that flimsy maxima bar.

Look at this stillen bar, equiped on someones Q

http://q.spilky.com/lexington/...2.jpg

Once again, this bar looks much better

The Q45T (Y33) looks as good. I say we try to modify that bar for our cars.

Next to each other in the garage. Don't think it is a swap, though.

I'll measure when I have time.

I wonder how much that bar costs to order? I couldn't seem to find it on infinitipartsusa.com, but I may have just missed it...

If it isn't that expensive, I'd be willing to order it and try the fitting on my g50...

I look at it this way...

The Y33 Q45T and the maxima/I30 were produced at the same time... So with this knowledge, I feel it safe to assume, the Q45T bar looks much more substanial for a reason, it probably is..

It's not like they figured out how to make some super thick, yet flimsy bar... No, the Q45 bar IS more substanial then the maxima/I30 bar.. which means, the engineers found it neccasary to make it that way for a reason.. IE the q45 is a two ton rwd sedan with a v8, and the maxima i30 are fwd sedans, that weigh 500+ pounds lighter, are are FWD..

Or maybe there is no difference at all.. even if that is the case, I stiill want the Q45T bar.. It looks much sexier.

Can someone find a link to order a Y33 Q45T FSTB?

Interesting.

You realize, of course, that you're talking about the company that I own and I am responsible for the deadlines on?

Perhaps you'd like to "donate" your Q45 for a few weeks (since you have other cars) so i can conduct all the necessary R&D?

You're welcome to wait for the OTHER companies that are intent on developing parts for the Q. :rolleyes

Good God, you'd think I was actually stealing from someone here. Perhaps your little friend has been unduly influencing your judgement - You'd be wise to ignore him.

<------ Offended beyond belief.
