K AZ, you can send those ten beans to my Paypal account. :D

I think that's the block Jason (GeeqSan) bought from Sophann. He commissioned Zigouras to build up the bottom-end and customize a twin-turbo kit for his Q but he's now in Iraq and the TT Q45's been scratched. I'll vouch for Zigouras, they do quality work and produce slick forced induction apps for mostly big detroit V8's. But $1,250 is a bit steep for just a "freshened" block. I bought a running VH45DE and transmission with only 58k on the clock from Sop for $900. Too bad he's not in the business anymore.

Dkill that's one fine specimen of an automobile you have there.

On my last posting I screwed up and said the picture was the "Carolina" track, but it was actually outside of Savannah Geargia. Maybe tomorrow I'll even remember the name of the track. [Roebling Road]:ylsuper

Carolina is where I crashed my daughter's G into the guardrail at 85 mph. . Damn, I hate when I do that!! But that's a story for another day.:D

I know you want pictures of the cage, engine, etc. The pictures that I have have posted are all from my screensaver -- and I don't have any close-ups there.:(

I'm sure it doesn't help to tell you the the cage was installed by a true artist. It is extremely tight. No complaints. Because of all the brake work, I had him put a center post in the rear so I can jack the rear with one lift. It's great!!

I do have several hours of film here and if I can get to it I'm sure I have some film of the car that I can capture pictures from -- although most is looking through the front windshield.

I have started a new thread, but not the one I promised. This is on the rear differential.

That track would be Roebling Road, sir! :D

I'd love to go busting around that track in my Q. Had a little fun years ago in my Lightning.

A good friend who runs a Porsche race shop in Orlando, (ZOTZ) had a blast passing NSX's & Porsches in his 1.3 liter turbo Tercel a couple of weeks ago at Roebling. :ylsuper

There's another track in Savannah (actually in SC) across the river near the convention center. I think it was someone's failed Indy Track venture. I drove that one a few times, but I think it's been taken over by the county, so they have posted speed limits and so forth. After a few trips around it at a "reasonable" speed I had some blow-the-doors-off fun, but it's not something I'd recommend to everyone... I found out from some people that live nearby that they are cracking down on "racers" on the track. What a waste of concrete!

How does this track at Roebling Rd. work? Do you pay a fee to run there? My girlfriend lives in Savannah (for now) so I'm in the area once or twice a month.

I drive the circuit with Car Guys Inc., http://www.carguysinc.com. I don't think they have Roebling on their schedule for this year, but there are other groups like them where they provide instructors and let you drive according to your abilities.

Car Guys also teaches Decisive Driving and have a skid car on an outrigger. I have instructed for them since before I went on track.

Don't worry too much about the car. It's great on track and you won't be too aggressive on your first outing. Rear bakes will be the only issue. Make sure to have an extra set of pads and the means to change them.

Of course, you have my email and phone #.... :)

Tony - If you don't mind changing out the axle stubs, you can use the 4.08 R200 out of a 90-96 300ZX non-turbo. The flanges are the only difference (5-bolt vs 6-bolt). Identical otherwise.

I just referred Palmers emails to a guy i know that talks to Clark over at JWT to see if he could get some answers. Did you hear anything back yet Palmer?

Thanks everyone for you help on this thread. Many things were discussed and you have given me many new things to consider.

I have posted a new thread, "Racing Q: Weight, wiring, gauges and fire suppression".

Thanks, Duaine :ylsuper

Terry - Please read page 3 of the Forced Induction Q45 thread - I think you may have some contacts that can help. So far, dkill and myself are in 100%.

Does the Q motor have any cylinders that run lean due to a design flaw? Like the mustang for example has a problem with the number 5 cyl. The port doglegs and the fifth inj is last on the rail and the sixth cyl fires before the fifth, Therefore the sixth steals fuel from the fifth. Anything like that with the Q?

During the rebuild they are finding that I did a whole lot of damage. I tore up the exhaust valves in addition to a few other things. I'm told this points to the motor leaned out.

To continue with the rebuild I need to locate 8 pistons with a .25mm overbore -- forged. Looks like I have the rings, gaskets and bearings covered.

Each bank of injectors can be trimmed by O2 {AVERAGE} at cruise unfortunately the ecu is not fast enough to deal with this at WOT higher rpms. One of the reasons that WOT is so excessively rich is to cover potentially less rich cylinders.

Injectors must be matched at the flow rates [370 cc per minute x 55-60% duty cycle =]. The Q uses a very low duty cycle as the 370 cc injectors could flow enough fuel to make 450 HP........whereas many Ford designs are maxed out with 24lb [307 HP] and 30 lb [318 cc] [384 HP] fot NA V8.

They make some wonderful black boxes that allow +- 20% individual trims on each injector and plenty of room to put a EGT sensor on each header port..

Spending $3-5,000 on precise engine managment and monitoring sure beats rebuilding engines frequently.

Monitor the rail and returnline pressure [with a data logger] to see the minute pressure drops as each injector opens.http://www.picotech.com/auto/waveforms. ... index.html
