Clawhammer wrote:Yes, listen to everything kamikazestorm says. Put your key in, turn it to acc, then to on, but instead of turning it one more time to start you just push the button. Then just turn your car off like normal.

I mounted mine to the bottom half of the steering column cover right under the key hole, so I put my key in and turn it with my thumb and index finger and push the button in with my middle finger.

And I think I'll be fine with the 15A for as short a time as the loop is actually closed? Maybe not. It was a 7 dollar button haha. If it fails I'll get a new one and a relay.

Duce, :p
you have to keep in mind, when your are starting your car, the starter takes a 60-80 amp draw on your system. if you dont want to use a relay, at least put a inline fuse on it (a 15amp inline fuse) so youll be safer than running no circuit breakers. like i said, its one of those rather be safe than sorry things.

Yeah, that'd make it easy for theives. Plus you'd still need the key for the steering wheel lock...unless you left that out too (see point #1).

exactly. without the key in the ignition your steering wheel would lock.

and why would you wanna do that. 240s gets stolen often nowadays, do you want to add yours to the list too?

1sikS13 wrote:yeah if you do do it properly...i would enjoy seeing the writeup.....not to thread jack but turbo dreams , what ever happened to that new shell you got? and how did the parts transfer go? got an update? i was following your thread before but i forgot what it was titled and cant find it in the search.Just curious on how it went.
The new shell i got is/has been my daily since august, the swap went over just fine but she ran like crap afterwards, missfiring, timing all off, bunch of vac leaks, but eventually all that was dealt with and now she runs just fine, however i just finally put p/s on her about 3 weeks ago and yesterday i bottomed out on the hi-way and the pressure line went, AGIAN. So once again no p/s, and since my last car was crashed in the front my a/c condensor was done, so i have all the lines n condensor i need to have a/c in this shell however im waiting till it gets warm enough to install that, my main goal right now is going ka-t, which im about 2 paychecks away from getting the rest of the parts i need ...anyways i'll have a thread for it soon, just been busy with work and school, sorry to thread jack, and that s2k buttom is AWESOME

Im really careless with them, and as far as the car getting stolen i would come up with other idea's to prevent that from happening

+1

a buddy of mine from high school got me lot sale of switches out of Zero warplanes for Christmas one year, and I've been contemplating rigging them up (yes they still work) for various features in the car.Although an easy button from staples wiring as a push button start might confuse a thief mid robbery...

I've had my share of them working at staples.

every 6 minutes of sweet silence in between being forced to hear "bizarre love triangle" 4 times in a row a day then it would happen just like nelson on the simpsons "THAT WAS EASY"

Not to mention staples SUCKED they didn't drug test and I was working with a heroin fiend who would come in so jacked up he would throw up everywhere, or he would take xtc during work, smoke a joint in his car outside the ****ing managers window.none of my managers ever cared and catching the smell of burning BBQ sauce in the bathroom always made me Ill.

Anyone who has done this on a S13, have you noticed that if you leave the car for a while, it takes a few more cranks than usual to start it up? But if the car was just running, it starts up right away?

It's not a fuel pressure thing, as starting with the key fires it right up no matter the situation.

what about a wireless key fob that would enable the start button, is that feasible? maybe something close to this http://www.my350z.com/forum/sh...96176

but it uses keyfobs to send a 5v signal to trigger a relay as long as the keyfob is close to it.

email me if your interested
