Concept Z Performance. It's pretty basic really. Just a couple plates and some hose caps and zip ties and then a plug. You could probably machine it yourself, but 300 degree did a good job of making it pretty much perfect. I think I paid $45 shipped for it.

Word to the wise, you do have to have an ECU flash or you will throw a CEL for emmisions when you delete the EGR.

On with more!

Accesories off the old engine, Alternator, A/C specifically.

Pulled these off the old engine instead of buying new ones, though they are actually cheap at some 15 bucks, it was going to be two weeks before anyone could get some in.

I'm still extremely nervous about the fact that it's not a factory button-up on this engine and someone has been in there fiddling around, but I'm just going to hope for the best, knowing that I've got a whole other engine in the garage that's eventually going to go in there anyway. This just needs to get us through a few seasons of autocross, it doesn't have to be perfect. Anyway, also this is a reference shot for post header installation.

this thread is awesome, keep it comin!!

but why would u get rid of your EGR, i mean it helps keep your combustion chamber temps down and what not. or are u just doin it for weight purposes

A little bit of weight savings and the pain in the *** that is replacing faulty EGR. The small benefit that you get from having the system can be easily remedied by adding water injection, which is of course in the master plan.

These are all f'ing blurry, sorry. The ones with the flash suck and I had no tripod, so whatever. Installed Exhaust Cam Gears and got the oil pan on. 11 days until the next Autocross...

For some reason I like this shot.

Jesus, I wish that was my house. We've have NICO tech days every weekend. The shop is actually a very good sponsor of our club who specializes in Imported cars (Yes, he literally turns away all domestics) and a family friend of mine.

It's so close, I can almost taste it.

UR Crank Pully Installed

New Passenger side motor mount. Oil filter... uh harness, I guess that's what you'd call it. Check out that bitchin JDM oil filter all f'ing banged the hell up from shipping. Funny the things you forget when purchasing parts, I actually need to pick up a damn oil filter... heh. I'm saving this one though.

Yay to header test fit.

Driver side header test fit, motor mount installed. FU EGR.

Get to clean all this up next. Headers from the back.

Sort of Assy looking, I should've powdercoated the timing belt covers.

She's damn near ready to go in. Just waiting on a few hoses and clamps and it'll be time.

Alternator and A/C installed, belts hooked up.

Passenger side EGR delete

Passenger side PCV

Driver side PCV

Drive side EGR delete

New Rear Main

She finally gets to move from her spot. LilBlueZ's (Kevin O's) NA next to me.

That's what a hole shot looks like from the front... heh

I need to order some JDM tails ASAP.

Imagine a extremely fat man. Now imagine what would happen to your ride height if this extremely fat man were to sit on your hood.

The Z engine is an extremely fat man.

Ono, an actual engine in the bay? Who would've thought! The defacto hood on roof shot. The flash really makes the engine bay look super dirty. I assure you, it's not quite that bad. The total absense of parts in the hatch, amazing.

I actually kept it NA on purpose. It would've been just as cheap to do a TT swap. There is more explanation on page 1 of this thread.

I have a pretty stout TT already (see signature), I really don't need another one. I'm planning on testing the bolton performance of the NA engine and then when it's said and done, I'll see about the maximum attainable performance that can be had from a VG30DE.

I thought so, I was wondering wtf was going on with that comment.

It was about time someone said that again though. I've only heard it about 3 dozen times... heh.

As soon as I turn the key and get vroom vroom noises, we'll be going for some breakin miles and I'm sure to hit up the weigh station.
