I appreciate the compliment man, thanks. the sideskirts and spoiler are a completely custom, the front lip is made by kamei and has not been produced in the last 20 years. it may very well be the last one that is inexistence, it was found by the previous owner through a parts warehousein germany.

I'm just being honest when I say there is nothing available for theS110 chassis 200sx and that nobody knows anything about them.

you're going to have quite a time finding stock parts let alone aftermarket. sorry to be so bleak about it, but I'm running into a lot of dead ends.look forward to doing a lot of custom fabrication for your datsun if youwant anything to happen with it.

by the way, what is your vin#? mine is very low, I'm wondering how low itis in comparison to others made in 1980.

dude!

be cool and make a mold of the lip out of fiberglass or carbon fiber.

that'd be pretty bitchin' of you.

I need to get bored and get some fiberglass and play around with the foam gfx on my S12..

I'll have to take a looksee and see what the VIN is in a little while. I might have to get really good with fiberglass to try and make subtle side skirts, and maybe even do a front lip. It's a shame that there isn't much out there for this model, but imagine the sense of accomplishment by making things work for this one.

BTW Continental Drift, if you don't mind me asking, how much did you pick your car up for? Did I pay too much for mine?

probably...

both of the cars are dirt cheap really...my S12 was free because it was worth more as a tax write off....

sadly, until we become hardcore drifters and challenge every AE86 out there, they'll be lacking in the aftermarket and have crap for resale.

I have a buddy that is toying with the idea of making cf parts. if it pans out,we plan on making a one-off cf version of the kamei 200sx lip. I suppose ifmodular doesn't mind paying for it, it might be a two-off instead of a one-off.

its still pretty far in the future, so yah, if it ever happens I'll let you know on a related note, you need to A) post pics of your broke *** S12,and B) start playin with the fiberglass... might as well do it now while

you cannot put a price on happiness. what you bought is a good start.you can go a lot of places from here and its not like its a car that comesup for sale all the time.

oddly enough, one the same color as yours... only in PRISTINE conditionwith only 9800 miles on it (garaged) sold for $4500 on ebay just a week or 2 before yours showed up (probably WHY the owner put yours up for sale ), so I'd say $950 is fair enough. what prompted your choice?did you know about these cars before you bought it?

I got mine for $400. it was a hell of a deal. it was the guy I got it from'sfirst car, he'd held on to it since '87. the body has some rough spots, but mechanically... its been tastefully modded and runs very well.I recently got some KYB shocks and struts onto it, they're not real stiffbut they are an incredible improvement over the old ones. anyways, it mainly sits in my garage for now.

anyways, the body on yours is real clean overall so its gonna be a lot easierfor you with a lot less bodywork than it is for me. so what do you plan on doing to it first?

..

Once I fix the rust, I want to custom make a body kit, and throw an L20 head on it if possible. I'm happy as hell with the car, imperfections and all. I forsee jet black as the new color too.

so I had a very interesting day today. a good day.

I thought I was going to have to work, I did not

went and had a great thai lunch with a couple friends

rode with my friend while he proceded to do donuts and drift his skylinein a secluded parking lot

drove a right hand drive car for the first time, namely that very same whiteR32 skyline gtst.

heres a shot of his car, even though he's posted pics of it on nico before.

I also went to pick n pull and there was an s110! a coupe, 82 I think. it had some decent damage around, but almost theexact same color as my hatch and had a passenger door with very fewdents (unlike mine) so I pulled that and a couple other parts and boughtthem. it also has a good radiator, so I need to find out if the z20e and thez22e have the same radiator in 200's. it also has good tie rod sleeves, and I need those, so I'm going to go back with a separater and get them.

i'm pretty stoked about getting a door to replace the other one. I know itsgonna be tough finding body and trim parts, so that makes me feel a lot better.

heres the dented door which is on the car ( i don't have a close up of thedent right now, but its a weird one) and then the new, clean door, which I am fairly confident will fit right up, even though it is off of a coupe.

then I watched the UFC pay per view and ate pizza. good day indeed

The door you got looks really clean. If I'm not mistaken, the hatch and the coupe use the same door. Its aft of the B pillars where things get iffy.

BTW, that skyline is sharp!

lol, nice, bringing nautical terminology into the thread, I like it, hahaha.yah, I'm fairly certain it should fit right up.

although in a moment of DUH!! and D'OH! I realised that either due to the fact that its a coupe, or due to the fact that its the second wave ofs110's (82-83) the door does not have a mirror nor does it have a placeto mount a mirror!

which is great for not having to do extra body work to fill the door if I wantto go to fender mirrors, but for the time being could be a little awkward.

oh well, atleast it'll look clean, I suppose at worst I could make some damnholes and mount the mirror but... whatevah, we'll see what happens... I'm still just stoked that I got a clean door in comparable color! woooot!

At least it's the passenger door, which (at least here in Illinois) means that even without a mirror on the door, you can't get a ticket. Out here it's the driver side doors that need a mirror.

Honestly, right now I think that I am ok, the only thing that didn't come with the car was a center console storage compartment cover, that and my ashtray is broke.

If you could find either of those, I would be most greatful (and would pay you for the item plus shipping)

Do you think I should swap my front seats for something more comfortable? These seats are beat to hell, both cosmetically, and comfort wise.

yes, I 100% think you should change out your front seats. atleast the drivers side. I have a couple old school recarosthat are just sitting in the garage, waiting for me to havea reason to install them, I also have wedge engineering seating brackets that are specially made for recaro intothe 200sx. If you want, I could probably take some fairlydetailed pics of the brackets which bolt to the floor and maybe take some measurements if you wanted to try and fabricate something similar. with the right placementof holes and sliders, the style of bracket should work formost aftermarket seats (just be careful because thesecars can't fit anything particularly wide... which is a shamesince I have a really nice corbeau bucket racing seat thatI'd love to install in there... oh well)

truthfully, I didn't really know much about these cars. Then one day on ebay I was looking for a second vehicle, and spotted the 200sx. There were a dozen or so cars that I was looking at (1990 mighty max pickup, 1987 mustang gt stick), but I fell in love with the styling of this car. In my opinion, it's one of those body designs that you either love or hate. Guess which category I fell into.

I posted these in a thread in general chat, but thats just because I need help.the pics really belong in this thread as an update, so I'm adding them.

anyways, this is some better pics of the damage to the old door and thenpics of the new door installed. unfortunately the window doesn't fit causeits for the coupe style, so I have to swap the windows and I have no ideahow to do it.

anyways, enjoy the pics. pretty good fit and decent color match, right?

check out the JDM "no side mirror" door, screaming fender mirrors, right?

I tried adjusting and just ended up getting pissed off and giving up for a couple days. I think tomorrow since I have the day off I'm going to attempt to just swap the windows.

so I'm also trying to come up with cash so I can buy this damn sway bar setthat came up on ebay. I want it pretty bad.

I hate when you're like, extra broke, and RIGHT THEN is when the stuff youwant comes up for sale... really pisses me off.

anyways, check back as the car progresses... I'm keeping this one as anexclusive to "others" until I've made some significant progress on it. thenyou'll probably see a post in datsun or general chat about it...

unlike some other people's resto projects, mine is "not ready for prime time"

thanks for checking in though guys

as soon as I can afford a decent set of tires, the front ssr mesh will be puton the s110 to match the rear.

if you look at the pics you can see the rear meshies with the deep dish lip.the fronts look just like that except the lip is maybe 2 inches instead of 3.
