Robbie and cnichols just found out that, the Bowlijg Green track will be CLOSED after all, on March 8th.

Earlier checks on the time had said it would be open, but now it turns out to be closed.

2 possible solutions come to mind:

1) rent the track, which is said to come out to $20-30 per attendee and still keep our March 8th date.

2) Switch date to the weekedn AFTER which is said to be open by local member, that would be March 15th..

Advantage to solution 1): We can keep our original published dateDisadvantagfe 1) we are spending no small amount of money, for a track that has plenty room even on busier days to park all of our cars in a row for much less$$, also this money paid by members would make it impossible for many to donate anything to NICO.

Advantage Solution 2) We spend less and chances are the weather will be bette,r as its a week later in MarchDisadvanatge we have to get the word out for the new date, but then we have over 2 months to do that.

Please vote in my poll.

Fred....:)Should we spend $$ to keep the date or just move it a weekend later and save the $$?

I don't think it will be that hard to spread the word tellin everyone to change the dates, I am just gonna be tee'd off it the weater is act. better on the 8th than the 15th.

I wouldn't mind though spending 20 bucks on renting the whole place out to ourselves. That way we all could race eachother and set up our brackets and all. I think it would be more fun that way to be honest.

Regardless, I am up for either way.

I voted for the 15th. If I have to pay to stay somewhere and that, geez....a lil pricey there. :) Not to mention to keep out some for gas and such.

but either is good. :D

If you voted to for march 15, then why is there 1 vote for keeping it march 8??? Only 3 votes too, that wierd. oh well.

I also think it will make it too pricey some for members.

Also teh amounts mentioned are IF enough cars show up.What if fewer cars show cuz it costs money and then it raise it to more $$?That way we are sweating bullets hoping enough PPL show up to keep it cheap, that would take a lot of fun out of the meet for me.

What's the breakdown on price? How many cars do we have to have there to get it for $20 apiece? I guess I should just ask how much is it to rent the track?

yes,

If it's just a couple hundred bucks no prob I can spring for that, but I dont know what number robbie used when he came out with teh 20-30 figure.I emailed him about that and am currently awaiting answer. My guess is he assumed we would have at least as many as last time (22 cars). So its probably too much for one of us just to spring for it.

I'm up for anything, as long as I have enough time. I have to put in for vacation time at my jobby job.

And, actually, March 8th would be better for me, since that week is my spring break from college. But, like I said, I'm open.

Thats when my spring break it too. I'm off from 10th to 15th soo if it stayed in that area I have no problem. well I should say 8th to 15th.

Hey Fred, sort of makes me think about what you said while back in another thread, your poll idea to start with. I think in a way we should have done that, but thats my opinion. But whatever is decided I'm up for. :)

Ummm...the poll thing was a little premature. There is no guarantee the track will be closed. RedRocket and I didn't want to say anything because all the info is not in yet.

There is a guy I know who is re-locating and opening up his shop in a different location. In order to bring this to the attention of everyone in the area, I suggested to him that he should have an import meet and rent out the track for some test/tune fun with possible bracket racing and/or all out fastest car and whatever else...maybe even some door prizes and awards (don't hold me to this).

He really liked the idea, but is waiting on a price because the owner of Beech Bend is out of town until Monday. Since we have two months, we should postpone the poll until then, when we will have more information. Then we can make a quality decision based on all the facts.

i think the 8th should still be carried out, just because we have the momentum rolling about it right now. this poll didn't help. i mean if we can get the track, like cnichols said, it would be even more perfect than we thought at first. everyone is excited about the 8th, and ready for it to happen. i mean if we find out later on down the road that we can't get the track, then sure, we can change it then, but ONLY IF WE NEED TO. right now, its still to premature, as nichols said.

Sorry guys I just didn't want to see the momentum of this meet to be screwed up, but for some reason some people felt other wise just be patient with us and we will have everything straightened out and when the date needs to be pushed back Cnichols and I will let everyone know.

C:

how did robbie arrive at the 20-30 est? There must have ben some kinda $$ thrown about.

Eitehr way if ther is achance for teh track to be open w/ normals hours+fees on the 8th we should go.

It is trrue we still have 2 monthsso there is plenty of time to let eevryone know and get some more info.

IF we are reasonable certain that teh track will be closed on the 8th (unless that is, we rent it), then we should move it to the next weekend.

If the original info I received was incompleteand shall have more info in a few days.

Even so, I'd be hard pressed to imagine a successfull meet with a fee of this approx size involved, regardless of the date.

Here's how it is....

The track will NOT be open to the public as NORMAL, BUT....

if the track is not a ridiculous price to rent for the day, Anthony, the owner of the best local shop is going to be having an import meet there and the price will most likely be $10 as usual and will keep some of the domestic crap that usually shows up (rusted out, no muffler turds that make your ears bleed).

If it's too expensive for Anthony, it will be too expensive for us.

Then, I see moving the meet to the 15th as the ONLY option and we will give all we have to getting the word out to everyone and then some. But, everyone sit tight until Monday...I will be calling the owner of Beech Bend and figuring out a price.

Once we've decided on the date...ask everyone you know...EVERYONE...even post on other forums. I think we've got the other 240, 3000GT/Stealth, Maxima, and 300Z forums covered somewhat, but we could use all the help you can muster. But only once we know for sure!

If it is an import meet, Repoman and I can bring a few friends. We constantly have about 5 people that go to IRP to drag race with us on Tuesday nights. Just let us know either way.

I just voted for the 15th, but I will try to make it either way. I just prefer the 15th for financial reasons.

Either weekend is fine for me too even though I voted the 15th (mostly becasue it may be a tad warmer, but in Kentucky, who knows). Whichever, I will be there. :thumbup
