That's why most of the world hates hearing us complain about $4/gal gas...

Yep.

Of course, I don't think it's really a fair comparison. The situation in America is just different than many other places in the world. Specifically, America is huge and, in many places, has a relatively low population density. This means that more Americans have to travel further to get somewhere. Factor in the complete lack of public transit in most places and fuel prices have a huge impact on a sizable portion of the population.

I'm not trying to downplay the impact of high fuel prices elsewhere in the world (Scotland, for instance), I'm just saying that because of our situation we are a little more sensitive. The only places, in my opinion, that really have a right to tell us to "suck it up" are Canada and maybe Australia.

my opinion on it from where im sitting is the uk is a disaster, and the usa is a little safer at the moment, you would'nt belive the stuff going on here by the government to just get more and more money out of people, no one can afford to live due to the size of inflation and new taxes

im trying to run an rb s14 that gets 140 miles to a tank! haha

Quite a nice looking S14 from what I saw in your intro thread.

I won't really comment too much on this because I don't really know what the situation is like for you guys over there and I don't like to comment on things I know nothing about. I will say that It's not exactly a picnic over here either. America tends to lean a little too far in the opposite direction for my taste, but I will refrain from going off on some rant. I believe there's a politics forum for that lol.

$3.67-3.79 for regular. Premium is nearly $4. The miata's gas mileage is a godsend.

Ethanol in Boston is 3.40. Comparison to ethanol over in other states?

I put plus in the hoopdie 560sec. had to spend 230 bucks since last friday, just for gas (about 3.70/gal and I only driven about 100-120 miles total.) 60 bucks bought me 15 or so gallons on monday. Let's see how long that lasts. It' like I can see the needle moving every time I step on the gas. Almost makes me want to turn the car off at stop lights.

And definitely pushing me towards ethanol conversion in the z.

Love the Vol State and it's gas prices! Regular is about $3.55 +/- a gallon at Murphy/Wal-Mart and a little more from the name brands here in the Tri-Cities.

$4 for the cheap stuff in Montgomery County, MD.

I went for a drive to Silver Spring on Saturday and they had $3.70 up on the board, came back an hour later and the same station changed the board to $4. I was like :ohno:

Its a wash. E85 tends to be around 30% cheaper then plain gasoline, but to reach the proper stoich ratio for Ethenol, you need to add 33 or so % more fuel.

Basiclly, you fill up 1/3 more often, and pay 1/3 less. You are not saving any money.

Depending on your location; If you were in Annandale, MN you'd pay 2.79 for ethanol.

But here, it's only 50 cents cheaper than premium. Oh well.

Still, much cheaper than race gas though!

It jumped from 144 yen per litre at the end of February to about 165 yen per litre since this past Saturday. 21 yen in crease in two weeks.

This is the breakdown.

$1 is 82.2368 JPY
1 JPY is 0.0121600 USD

3.7 litres of gas at 165 yen per litre is 610.5 JPY.

So, at the current exchange rate, I am paying...
7.42369 USD per gallon for high octane in Saitama prefecture.
Screw that. I'd take the train (if that were an option).

Well, I usually ride the bus as it's quite convenient for me as the bus stop is a two minute walk from my house and the bus station is a 5 minute walk from my job.

BUT...I also have to travel into Tokyo 3 times a week for part time work. It's only about 10 miles one way. I could take the train, but, I'd have to bus to the train station, then take two trains and then walk to my part time jobs. Time it takes to drive from my house to part time jobs...20-25 minutes.

Time it takes to bus, train and walk to my part times...40-45 minutes. And that's as long as I make the scheduled times to get me there by the times I need to be.

I have to drive on the weekends, though as I have to run my kids to practices and I have a private student as well. I use about 3000 yen per week on gas in the GT-R. There are times when I can ride my scooter to the Tokyo jobs, but if it's raining, I'm in the car.

I also know that the U.K. prices are pretty bad. I have a friend in Aberdeen, Scotland and he always tells me how much it costs over there. I can't imagine how hard it must be, but then again, maybe the cost of living is a bit more expensive there too.

Just a bump to let you know the prices aren't going anywhere but up. National average is $3.93 / gallon.

Question - has it changed how you drive or how much you drive?
